THE TROUBLE WITH JAKE.......!

The trouble with Jake..........and so far there has been no trouble !   Is his liking for one particular lady.  Today, as any other day we take him on a long walk in the park.  Today we thought it would be a good idea to take him to Burnham Beeches, a local beauty spot and a haven for dogs and people alike.  We had nearly finished our morning hike when we were approached by a young woman pushing a baby in a buggy with a small staffordshire bull terrier by her side, we let Jake off his lead, not foreseeing any problems.   How wrong we were............

The two dogs met and greeted each other the way all dogs do, when the woman screamed out ` Oh no, she`s in season !`   Now she tells us,  the staffie took off with Jake in hot pursuit closely followed by the woman who had quite forgotten her baby as she ran screaming after her dog.  I pushed the baby after her and Jim was muttering darkly how it is totally stupid to have a bitch in season off the lead where there are so many other dogs, well those aren`t quite the words he used but I`m sure you get the idea !

Catching the now, almost hysterical woman and reminding her that she had a baby wasn`t easy but we eventually found her and she thanked us for looking after him/her.  She then said ` Ruby never , ever leaves my side.  She`s a good girl and isn`t interested in other dogs. Are you going to help me find her ?`  ` Errmmm.... no , I`m going to try to find Jake if you don`t mind.` I replied ` and when you do find her, I suggest you take her to the vet`s for a morning after injection !`

Jim and I split up and asked everyone we met en route to keep an eye out for him.  I asked the Park Wardens if they would have a look as they  did their rounds and of course they said they would too.

So for the next hour and a half we searched and searched and were now getting seriously worried about him.  He doesn`t have any road sense, so we were very worried that he had run out onto one of the little lanes that surround the Beeches.  What if he was hurt and lying by the side of a road somewhere, or totally lost , cold and frightened, he hadn`t been fed yet so he must be hungry.  What if...... what if ?

Then we bumped into a couple who we had spoken to earlier, they said the warden had found him and the staffie.  So Jim and I split up again and circled the wardens work area. Jim found him first and Jake was pleased to see him but he wasn`t distressed about being lost at all.  So alls well that ends well, and as for Jake, when we got him back to the car I`m sure he had a faint smile of satisfaction on his face !

Thanks for making this lovely siggie for me Sharon !

Lol, Sandra, what a wonderful mental picture you conjured up. It really made me laugh!  I do hope Jake got his oats lol.  Certainly an interesting day for you although the worry was not fun.  No, she should not have taken a bitch in season into the park, it was asking for trouble. Wonder if there will be a lot of little Jakes around in the future.  Thanks for a great entry and for a wonderful graphic.

Taking your dog, in heat, to the park and letting it off the leash is not the best idea I gather!  Wouldn't have thought that running off to catch your dog leaving your baby behind was one of the best either!!  What a silly woman, am glad you told her!  Jake had fun though ;o)

That woman should have had better sense than what she had...and to chase a dog and leave her baby?????

I am so glad you found Jake. :) and that he was alright.

Love ya,
Sharon
