SATURDAY BITS

As always on a Saturday I haven`t really prepred an entry so I will just make it up as I go along  ( Alright I know most of what I do sounds like that anyway!)   I had loads of housework to do this morning.  Something to do with spending endless hours on the PC.  Jim says he`s a computer widower, if there`s such a thing.  As promised he has started on the decorating in the spare room, sorry Stuart, he`s not for hire until sometime next year !   I have much for him to do.  I digress, I started on the housework, soul destroying though it is, then decided that the house was cleaner than I thought and left it at that.   Later we went out with Jake.  The weather being not too bad, but very windy and cold, at least it`s dry and I don`t have to put sandwich bags inside my walking boots to keep the water out !  ( it`s a very practical and cheap way of avoiding wearing Wellingtons, which I hate !)   We took him with us to our local Garden Centre where we went into the Pet food shop and showed him off to the staff, who fell in love with his boyish charms and cold, wet nose and waggy tail.  He was given a free bag of healthy option dog treats just for being cute.  I know exactly what is meant by  `living a dog`s life`  a charmed life more like !

Last night we went out to Jim`s company dinner and what a great night we had.  We picked up another couple en route and then travelled to the Renaissance Hotel at Heathrow Airport.  We had a lovely meal there and the Cabaret was provided by a Drag Artiste who was very funny and risque. He/she went down very well with all the audience and after her act  the raffle was drawn and Jim won £50 !   He was over the moon because he doesn`t usually win anything at all.  We eventually got to bed at 2.30am absolutely tired out.  Anyway for now I hope you all have a great weekend.  Bye for now.

BLOW YOUR NOSE

Little Boy Blue

please blow your nose.

It drips like a faucet

and sprays like a hose.

Your brother and sister

are getting upset,

so please blow your nose -

`cos you`re getting them wet !

RECIPE FOR A SALAD

To make this condiment, your poet begs

The pounded yellow of two hard-boiled eggs;

Two boiled potatoes, passed through kitchen sieve,

Smoothness and softness to the salad give;

Let onion atoms lurk within the bowl,

And, half-suspected, animate the whole.

Of mordant mustard add a single spoon,

Distrust the condiment that bites so soon;

But deem it not, thou man of herbs, a fault,

To add a double quantity of salt,

And lastly, o`er the flavoured compound toss

A magic soup-spoon of anchovy sauce.

Oh, green and glorious! Oh, herbaceous treat !

`T would tempt the dying achorite to eat;

Back to the world he`d turn his fleeting soul,

And plunge his fingers into the salad bowl !

Serenly full, the epicure would say,

Fate cannot harm me, I have dined to-day !

Sound like you had a good night out Sandra - and 50 quid better off - can't be bad!
I'd be interested in knowing if this response generates an alert, as I haven't been getting any for the last couple of days.  I didn't get an alert when you posted this, I came into your journal to see if in fact you'd posted anything today - I'm going to have to trawl around my favourite sites if the alerts aren' working.
ta ta for now

Just read Freda's comment. The only alerts I have been getting are yours Sandra. Wish I had a dogs life....Tesco's might give me a bag of goodies. Keep laughing with me.

Sounds like you had a good night last night, and congrats on winning £50 on the raffle!!  Laughing at the sandwich bags in your boots, I used to do something similar!

I use to do that with my shoes (STILL DO)...used sandwich bags or plastic bags from the store, but then my feet don't get wet from snow or rain, just prespiration...hehehehe

Loved that little poem about BLOW YOUR NOSE...so cute. :)

I need to make an entry in one of my journals...just don't know what to make it about! :D

It was warm here today in the Midwest States...60 degrees...like spring.
