JAKE`S HERE TO STAY

Today is Jake`s 3rd day with us and he is settling in so well .   The first night he was as good as gold and never woke us up at all.  He stayed downstairs, which is a good thing.  He has simply chosen not to climb stairs which suits as all.  From his point of view it is good because he can`t hurt his hips with climbing and from ours he won`t be in and out of the bedrooms.  He saw our vet yesterday and he was very impressed with him. He likes his nature and condition and he said he is a very fine specimen.  His origins lie in working labradors, who were field trial champions.  So I may try to get him involved for fun as he is a clever dog and young and so willing to please.  I can  give him all his basic training , retrieving etc.  But then I`ll find a club and take his training further.  It`s an interest for us both.  Another good thing about Jake is that he gives a warning bark when someone knocks on the door.  He makes me feel safe when I`m in the house on my own when Jim is on late shift.  So after just three days we have a treasure of a dog and he is coming out of his shell.  All the family that have met him adore him and what more could we ask other than a nice, contented, happy and healthy canine companion like Jake ?!!!

Sandra, he was meant for you.  The timing was right.  Sad you lost Hannah but a new canine needed you, really he did. I am so glad he is settling in so well, I just knew he would.  He is beautiful. Give him a pat from me xxxxxx

Sounds like he's settled in fine :o)
He looks - in this photo - as if he's always been there!!
I think he's going to have fun with you, and vice versa!

You are truly blessed to have him ;-)  Labs are so lovable and can be quite protective of their families. Your photos of Jake bring back memories of my dog. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,

How wonderful Jake looks.  I had dog named Jake, too, when I was in my teens.
Thanks for the kind words about my Journal.  It is mostly whimsy and answers to on line challenges like Scalzi's weekly assignment or Krissy's Photo scavenger hunt.  Jeannette has wonderful journal too  full of gorgeous pictures. She keeps me on Alert and sometimes makes comments within minutes of my posting.
