Life in the Old Dog!

Hello there, I found this poem in the Daily Mail newspaper some time ago and it made me smile and I`d love to share it with you.  It goes like this...............

THERES LIFE IN THE OLD DOG YET

a true tale of a dog who was boarded at kennels when his master died while on holiday:

His master`s dead ! The note decreed,

Now falls to you the awful deed,

that faithful hound, your long-term guest,

Take to the vet and put to rest,

Then when he`s met his dreadful fate

Your costs we`ll meet from the deceased`s estate

I looked at him, he looked at me,

This host of multitudes of fleas

Who freely licks his private parts,

Who`s scared of strangers and the dark.

With one ear up and one ear down

His gormless look became a frown.

That evening found us at the vet`s

With other owners and their pets.

It seemed like hours that dreadful wait,

To sit and sadly contemplate,

Fourteen years old, he seems so well

(He`s always had that dreadful smell).

`Shame`, said the vet, `but if you`re sure,

I`ll just need your signature`,

It`s a full 12 months since that woeful night

And I must inform you as I write

That the subject of my tragic fable is snoring loudly `neath this table.

Fourteen years old, he seems so well

(He`s always had that dreadful smell).

`Shame` said the vet,`but if you`re sure, I`ll just need your signature`.

Its a full12 months since that woeful night

And I must inform you as I write

That the subject of my tragic fable

is snoring loudly `neath this table!
