Daffodils and Road rage

Brrrr.....a chilly day today, the last vestige of Summer, what little there was, seems to have gone for this year.  I bought a sack of daffodils at work and set about planting them this afternoon but after putting in about a dozen I decided that I`d do some more tomorrow as I really wasn`t in the right mood, most unlike me as I`m sure you can guess. I then planted up two hanging baskets with Winter pansies before clearing up and putting everything away, hence my doing an early entry today. I just don`t seem able to get warm which is again, unlike me. I think it`s this virus thing that`s going on with me, I have swollen neck glands and a icky throat but nothing seems to come of it. Hopefully it`ll pass soon so I can get back to normal again.

Yesterday we went to Kerry`s for dinner. It was lovely to see them as it`s been over a week now what with Roman having been poorly too. He`s a lot better than he was but still isn`t 100% yet. We had a lovely afternoon and a tasty roast chicken dinner, Kerry`s a great cook and it`s always nice to have a meal cooked by someone else I find, it always tastes so much better. At the end of the day when we had to leave to come home, Roman wouldn`t give me a kiss and cuddle when we went home despite my coaxing. I felt a bit sad even though I know it was only because he`s not feeling his best.  Never mind, I know he loves me really. :o)

This morning when I left for work the road was almost blocked by school traffic. It is never usually like that but since the new school term it`s become a nightmare just leaving our drive and trying to get out of our road. One driver who blocked my way wanted me to drive on the grass even though I had the right of way, I refused as I didn`t want to damage my car`s suspension and luckily for me he reversed his vehicle, albeit reluctantly and gave me a very dirty look as I drove by. The school are very strict about the parents parking and at first when the new school opened last year there were no problems. Now however, there are cars parked on corners and very other available space. Householders drives are blocked and on friday I saw a car almost run over a small child with his mother. I really think there will be an accident soon, I just hope something will be done before it`s too late.

Did I mention that I had a tax rebate the other week? Well I did and it has come at the right time too, I really need a good winter coat but do you think I can find one I like? Not a bit of it. I did find one but the shop didn`t have my size and were very vague as to when they may have another delivery. I will keep looking though as I`m bound to find something. I know what I want, it`s just a question of finding it.

We`ve been giving our bathroom a revamp and I`m really pleased with the results so far. It didn`t need very much doing to it as the walls are completely tiled but the grouting looked tired and the window blind made the room look too dark. firstly Jim cleaned the grout and the shower door, then he installed a vertical blind we had made to measure in cream colour. He then laid new tiles on the floor to finish it off. What a transformation it is too, its very light and airy in there now, so clean and bright that it looks like new, and it hardly cost very much at all. I always think its the little things that make all the difference.

Our Jake has a bad leg again, we know it`s his arthritis so we are giving him shorter walks for a few days, that usually works for him, then it`ll be back to his usual runs again. Like the vet told us before, it would be wrong to deprive him of his long walks long term. She said it would be better that he had a shorter life that was full than a longer one that was boring because of lack of exercise. She is right of course but I do hope his life will be long regardless. His joints have been much better since we started giving him Seraquin, a supplement that helps lubricate them and contains a mild anti inflammatory. I`ll just keep giving him the tablets and hope for his continued good health.

Anyway, I`m off to cook something for my evening meal. I have no idea what I want to eat, I`ll have a look in the freezer for something quick and tasty as I`m not in the mood for cooking today. Take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Hi Sandra,  You do seem to have a bit of teh blues today...mind you I am nit surprised I think we are all feeling a wee bit like that I blame the weather..I blame the weather for everything   LOL   Glad that you saw Roman yesterday and to hear that he is a bit better.  It is terrible the way the folks park at school gates nowadays...well truth be said I think it is awful that Mothers actually TAKE their children to school nowadays. I am certain that they are in no more danger than we were going to school...unless of course perhaps they have a busy road to cross....  I just had the same decision to make as you a wee while ago I had to search for insperation for something for supper tonight...ended up with a TIN !! actually Sainsbury's chicken in white wine it is really very nice and a good standby..with some potato's and my favourite beetroot...Mary said it was delicious..I must be mad as I had a sunday dinner for tonight however I gave it to our neighbour as he is on his own and dosn't often make himself good food !!  Love for now  Sybil xx

We're having some cooler days here too, some are dreary with clouds & sprinkles of rain. Won't be long now till it'll be chilly.
Sounds like you'were busy in the garden.
Sounds like a nice eve with Kerry, you're right, meals cooked by others seem to taste beter. LOL
I'll wager the redone bathrm does look better. :)
I disagree about Jake, I think as he's older & has arthritis, that his walks need to be cut done...with a long one every now & then. I don't think it's fair to push him. It's not depriving him, to ease his pain. He can still have a full long life with out the painful long walks. Just see that he has lots of other things he enjoys.
You know me, I have to butt in where furrs are concerned. Please don't take offense. {{}}
Have a good week.
Hugs,
Sugar

Well, I could not get warm today and, as far as I know, I do not have a virus.  I used to plant daffs but it is too much for us these days.  I know what you mean about Roman, our boys are like that if they have been unwell, they just say bye bye and go.

We once lived in a street that had a school at the end of it.  In the end we had to move, the parking was so bad, just an endless line and nobody could get off their properties.  If you complained to the Mums you got a load of abuse.

Hope Jake's leg improves soon.

Hi! Sandra, We have the cooler weather, and also  poured with rain just as I put my washing out, but we have had some lovely Sunny days recently. I planted bulbs, mainly tete-a-tete, loads more to do yet, but would you believe the 'Squirrel' has been, and he digs them up. when he's not having a go at the Birdfeeder.

What a nice entry!  Lots of news!  I hope you and Roman are feeling much better very soon.  It's no fun to have a virus rattling around in the body.  I hope Jake's arthritis is easily controlled.  My sister's golden retriever has arthritis in her shoulders and hips.  She has to take pain medication everyday.

I can't wait to see pictures of your flowers when they bloom.  You always have such a pretty garden.

Hugs, Kathy

Hello Sandra. I think I might have that virus you have got. Each day I get a strong feeling that I am going in for the Flu. A pain in the back of my neck that goes up into my head, plus a pain in my forehead. Pains in various parts of my body and a general lousy feeling. I take a couple of pain killers and it fades away. In general I feel lazy and have turned into a right couch potato. The advantage is that I have nearly caught up with all the T.V. programmes I recorded when my sister and her husband visited a couple of weeks ago. They live in Devon and wanted to go out each day to visit my family and friends. I hope you feel better soon and get the rest of those dafs in.
Regards Dan

Hi Sandra,  Sorry to hear you're a bit under the weather, I hope you'll feel better soon and it doesn't turn into anything worse....I blame the weather too although we should be used to it by now!

I have daffodils to plant too but we need to sort out where to put them, we have some wire cages to put over them so that the squirrels don't have them for breakfast!   take care, Love, Pat   http://journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat/
