Ugh, what a wet and miserable day it`s been, it`s not stopped all day and today being Bank Holiday too. I feel really sorry for working people who have today off with their families as it`s unlikely that they`ll be able to enjoy a day out as they would have hoped.
As I guessed yesterday, work was a complete washout. We are supposed to be really busy at this time of year and at Bank Holidays we should be rushed off our feet. Instead we were sitting around after doing our usual daily tasks waiting for the customers to come through the doors. They DID come but mostly the ones who wanted cheap discounted plants and the ones who didn`t quite know what they wanted so left empty handed. I can tell you, I was really happy when 1pm came around and I could come home again. My poor garden has taken quite a beating from the wind and rain and it has seen off the last of the Spring flowers that were vainly hanging on to their fading petals. The Clematis are hanging on to the trellis for dear life and I can only hope they don`t get blown down. One of my roses was so battered that I`ve tied twine around it hold it up, it looked so sorry for itself despite its many flowers. Jim was going to finish digging over the new flower bed but of course he had no chance today, anyway, the poor bloke had to go to work himself at 12am so at least he could have a rest before he went.
Kerry was coming down with Roman tomorrow but she hasn`t been feeling well and has called it off. I don`t blame her either, she hasn`t been right for some time and I wish she`d go back to the doctor as I know something`s not right with her, you know these things about your own children don`t you? Danny was here overnight as he went to Twickenham to watch the rugby sevens yesterday. Like before it was a corporate do and it didn`t cost him a penny. When he came home a little worse for wear he told me that the hospitality there was wonderful, the food the drink ;o) and of course, the rugby...lol! I didn`t see him this morning and when I got home he`d gone home but I`m sure he`ll tell me more about it another time.
This morning on the way to work there was a fallen tree lying across the main road, I found out later that it had only fallen down just a few minutes before I got there. I did notice other overhanging trees looking just that little bit lower than usual and I must admit to being more than a little nervous, somehow being crushed by a tree isn`t something I relish, nor, as it happens did I enjoy being hit by a tidal wave after a car that was driving much too fast, hit a deep puddle. For a split second I couldn`t see a thing and where it happened the road is very narrow. I wish people would adjust the way they drive to the weather conditions, it could save their lives one day....grrr!
Right, I`m off now, time I put something on for my evening meal. I hope you all had better weather and have enjoyed the Bank Holiday. I hear the weather in Scotland and in the North is lovely today so to my friends there I say, please send some of it here...lol! :o)

Oh Sandra ,yes hasnt it been a washout ? you cant blame people staying in doors this weather ,so very pleased that tree missed you ,but sorry that idiot drowned you that can be dangerous ,some drivers dont make allowances for weather condition do they ? ...love Jan xx
Hi Sandra! Not sure which bit of the country North Lincolnshire is meant to be at the moment. It's been getting progressively windier since Friday, ever so cold, but dry and sunny. This bank holiday we must be sitting on the cusp between north and south. The rain's coming tomorrow apparently. Oh, don't let's have another 2007!
love, Angie, xx

It sounds like you folks are really getting battered by old Mom Nature. The weather is just weird all over. AOL Jlander Kathy posted pictures of a twister that hit California overturning railroad cars and huge semi trucks. See; http://journals.aol.com/kaydeejay5449/a-little-left-of-center-ii/ . Hopefully your severe weather will calm down before it does anymore damage to your garden. Linda in Washington
Sandra what an awful wash out holiday weekend ~ the weather here has been a typical English Holiday weekend ~ I hope Kerry will be feeling better and gets to see her Doctor ~ sounds like Danny had a good time at Twickenham ~ and glad that tree fell before you reached it ~ some people are really inconsiderate when driving and have little thought for other drivers ~ Ally x
Hi Sandra,
Our garden too, is looking rather sorry for itself, we're supposed to have rain all week I think.
I think you're right about knowing when your child isn't well, Kerry really should go to the doctor and get checked out, it's hard when you have a baby and you're not feeling right in yourself.
Good to hear Danny enjoyed the corporate hospitality..and the rugby!
Love, Pat http://journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat/
The way I see it, is that if it rains and I'm at work, I don't care because I'm at work. If it rain and I'm off work, I'm so grateful to be off work that I don't care!
It hasn't rained here for a while now. Better no rain than those terrible tornadoes that have come so close to everyone. I hope your flowers recoup after all that rain. I hope Kerry will soon be feeling lots better. Helen
Have a good week and I hope the rain stops!

IT WAS GORGEOUS HERE....:-P

Yes, we have had wonderful weather over the Bank Holiday weekend up here, it has been windy but very sunny. However, all that has changed as of this morning when I woke up to rain and much lower temperatures. Hope your rose bush has survived. Eileen x
Wow, another eventful day. Hope Kerry feels better soon...happy Danny had a good time at the Rugby game...and thank the Lord you were not hit by the falling tree. Your entries are getting so exciting. Hope it is not boring at work...love hearing about your job too.
Hugs and love...

Could Kerry be pregnant? I am now truly worried....let us know what happens..she MUST get to a doc! I hate it that it has rained so much that your plants are suffering. I bet with your tender loving care they will come back to life quickly.
Much Love!
Hi Sandra ,hope Kerry is feeling better ,we always worry when our kids are ill or off colour .Glad Danny enjoyed the day at rugby .So pleased you missed that fallen tree..but sorry you had to drive into a deep puddle made by a careless driver ,hope this week is going well for you .......love Jeanxx
Rain can be so destructive
Weather was awful for me on a trip to London for the weekend and got drenched. We left the good weather behind us at home! My plants on the balcony took a bashing too and the daisy type plants look very bedraggled and do not look as if they will survive. Love Conniex
I hope you (and your garden) get some relief from the rain and wind. Seems so unfair to work so hard to raise beautiful flowers only to have the weather ruin them! I hope, too, that your daughter feels better soon. I know what you mean about knowing your own child and just knowing when something isn't right.
Hugs, Kathy

It sounds like the weather was horrendous while I was in Italy! It was 90F and gloriously sunny there, you should have come with me! I hope Kerry can get to the doctor and find out what's wrong with her. Have a good week! Jeannette xx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
