A Borrowed Car and Roman`s Box

Sorry I haven`t done an entry for the last few days but I`ve been a bit busy.  At last my car is back from the garage and fitted with a new sunroof. The last time it went in I was told the same thing but it turns out that all they did was do something with the seal, probably to save money but anyway, it`s been done properly this time and fingers crossed, it won`t leak the next time we have heavy rain. I was really lucky because the courtesy car they gave me was a almost brand new Clio which was an absolute dream to drive and very, very smart. I felt like telling them to keep mine and let me keep this one...lol!

I`ve been spending hours in the garden yesterday and today. I`ve managed to weed and clear almost an entire flower bed the length of the garden. Jim has cut the grass and has marked out where he is going to put the greenhouse base. We`ve decided to revamp the whole of the bottom end of the garden and if it all goes to plan it`s going to look great though we certainly have our work cut out before we can say its finished. Already my back is pretty sore but it always happens, if I want the garden to look nice I have to put up with it. Work has been getting busier with the planting season starting up, people are buying a lot of Spring flowers and early summer plants. I`ll be joining them myself very soon I think.

Jake is doing very well on the Seraquin he is taking to help his dodgy hips and joints. Its not a drug as such but a supplement that contains a mild anti-inflammitory About a fortnight after he started taking them I noticed that he didn`t seem as stiff as he had been and he hasn`t been limping the way he was before.  His gait still resembles a kangeroo from the back but that won`t change, whats important is that he`s free from pain and happy, which he certainly is now.

I had an idea the other day and its called Roman`s Box. What it is really is a rather fancy pasta tin on which I stuck the words Roman`s Box on with craft glue. Then I put in a small toy, something inexpensive and a little chocolate bar or sweet (Jim added a twenty pence piece) and then put the lid back on. When Roman comes round to see us I`ll tell him about his special box and then ask him if he wants to look inside. Hopefully he`ll be really pleased to see what is in his box and he`ll take the goodies out and I`ll put the box back. Then when he comes round again we`ll go through it all again. I just want him to associate his own box with Nana and Grandad and I`m sure we can have some fun with it because he will never be sure whats inside. Of course he will have to be a good boy if he wants to have a look....lol!

The new neighbours always speak to us now, much more so than the last lot. They are much friendlier people and very quiet when inside, we couldn`t ask for anything more than that. The other day the chap said to me that he was sorry if his car was too close to our drive but he was building his own drive and he would soon move his car. I couldn`t believe that he was actually concerned about something that hadn`t even crossed my mind. I told him that it wasn`t a problem but thank you anyway.  Thats what I call polite and neighbourly.

Anyway my friends, I must run as I have only been online since 7pm and I have lots of journal alerts and emails to answer. I hope you`ve all had a lovely day, take care. :o)

Sounds like you've had the right kind of weather to allow you into the garden.  We've had sun the last few days but I'm kept away from gardening until I heard what's wrong with me right knee.  My son said he'd come mow the lawn but I haven't seen him yet.  I hope he makes it before the rain.  What a good idea for Roman. Something for him to look forward to when he comes over.   I have new neighbors too.  The actually moved in last fall. The former neighbors and I put a line of bricks along the edge of their driveway right up against the edge of my lawn. These new people keep running over the bricks with their car and now a couple of them have broken.  I keep going out and putting them in place and they keep running over them. Ughhhhh !  I want the old neighbors back. Have a good rest of your evening....Linda in Washington state

I'm glad Jake is feeling better.  What a wonderful idea - Roman's Box.  If my grandkids were here more often I think I'd give it a go!   ~~Kath~~

You are ahead of us up here.  We have yet to make any inroads in our garden as it is either raining, or very cold (as it has been today).  Hoping to make a start before long.  Love your idea of Roman's Box........he will be so excited!  Glad that Jake's treatment is helping.  Eileenx

I love the idea of Roman's box! That's great! It will become a new family tradition for you all.
I can't wait to see pictures of your garden once you get going on it. Sounds like you really made some progress. Be careful of your back, though.

Hi Sandra - I think the idea of Roman's box is brilliant! he will love it! Our new neighbours still dont speak - infact they obviously ignore us when we are out the front - quite sad really! Laine xx

The "Roman's Box" idea, is brilliant. Am thinking of making 3 boxes - that'll keep the little tikes quiet for a few minutes. Daughter and grandson are coming to stay this weekend and I've been told Son and his little tribe are coming over on Sunday as well. Will be a packed house - methinks those boxes will come in very handy. Take care.

I hope your back gets over that soreness soon. That is a cute idea to make Roman a surprise box. My children still remember when they were small going to my parents house and going to the fridge where she kept a bar of candy for each of them. Glad that Jake is feeling better. Hugs, Helen

I like the idea of Roman's box.  I just might have to do something like that for my granddaughters. :-)

The Renault Clio looks like it's on the sporty side - which is always fun to drive. :-)

Glad to hear Jake seems much better with the supplement, poor thing. Roman's Box sounds lovely! I couldn't do it with my younger grandchildren because I see them at least a couple of times a week - I'd be broke in no time!!  I bake cakes for them, it's cheaper!  I hope your back gets better Sandra, the more you garden, the less you feel the pain!!  Love, Pat  http://journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat

What a good idea youve got there with Roman's Box.  Good news about Jake.  They're such a worry when you think they might be hurting.  Our garden is a right mess at present except for the brave little pansies that keep on dusting themselves off no matter what the weather throws at us.

That's a good idea about Roman's box but I thought you were going to make it like some sort of memory box for him.  I made something similiar when I was at my grandparents and we put all sorts of trinkets inside :o)  My grandad made it for me.  Glad Jake is well and your car is fixed xx

I think Roman's box is an adorable idea. I can't wait to start clearing my garden out. Unfortunately the weather here in NY doesn't seem to be agreeable with that idea for a few months yet. Glad to hear your neighbors are kind and courteous toward your family. (Hugs) Indigo

So glad Jake is doing well Sandra.  Good on you for getting all the gardening done, I simply have not been up to it.  Great idea for Roman's box and I am sure he will be thrilled.  Happy to know that, at last, you have good neighbours.  I tried again for the crystal thing but the firm have removed their site.  Looks like they have gone for good.

I'm glad Jake is doing well on his supplement, I'm sure he feels better for it. Roman's Box seems a great idea, I hope he enjoys looking at his treasures when he visits! The weather has gone paer shaped now, I hope it doesn't affect your plants. We've had a blizzard raging most of the day here, ugh! Have a good week.
