Sunday Snippets

Hello Everyone,

It`s been one of those days as far as I`m concerned, not that anything has gone really wrong, I`m just in a bad mood that won`t lift. :o(

I suppose if I`d managed my usual Sunday morning lie-in it wouild have turned out better but I awoke at 5.15am and couldn`t sleep after that, it was just too hot. I got up at 6.30 and had breakfast after doing a few odd jobs around the house and by the time I had breakfast at 8.00 I felt wornout and fit to drop. At least my back is much better today though still a bit stiff AND so is Jake`s paw, he is still lifting it occasionally but it`s much better so it can`t be a fracture. I did the ironing this morning and was relieved that I didn`t have as much as some weeks...phew, another good thing to happen, even though I ended up doing a couple of Danny`s shirts. He returned the favour this afternoon by giving my car a good clean inside and out, saving me another job...he`s a good boy sometimes....lol!

I can`t believe we are going to Russia on the 23rd of this month, and I think I`m looking forward to it at last. I can`t say I was too enthusiastic at first but I didn`t want to turn down an invitation to visit a country where I wouldn`t think of going if it weren`t for Slava and Kerry. I still have some reservations but will go there with an open mind....and my camera to show you all the sites. Slava sent off our visa applications the other day and we should have them some time next week, all being well. I have a feeling that what was a nice sunny day is going to end up with a storm. It`s very hot and oppressive and the sky is very ominous looking with very black clouds. It nneds to break to cool things down a little. I love the hot sunny weather but not this humidity...ugh!

At last we have our classic photo view back and we now know what we`re looking at now we can have captions again. I thought I`d post a few photos of my flowers that are blooming at the moment. As Joan suggested I took photos of the newly planted pots and mangers and then I`ll take some more in a couple of weeks so they`ll be a marked change, if we get the right mix of sun and some light rain, more sun than rain hopefully...lol!

Anyway, I`m off to have a shower before watching some TV. Have a nice evening and take care. Bye for now. :o)

Don't you just love this time of the year when the flowers are in bloom ?  Wow, Russia in 20 days...I wouldn't want to go there as a tourist alone, but since Slava's family is there, I'm sure your time there will much different.  I'm really looking forward to the pictures.   Gabi says she hopes Jake is doing better soon.   Linda in sunny and warm Washington

Hi Sandra !!!!!!!!!!!

I have been waking up early this weekend and fixing my usual cup of coffee. I have been feeling pretty good despite not being able to go camping. I hope your spirits have been lifted. I am glad to hear your back is better as well as Jake's paw.

I wish I were going with you to Russia. Russia has been one of the places I have always wanted to visit. Do take plenty of pictures and have lots of fun for me. Do tell your family I said hello for me. Its quite warm here in Atlanta, Georgia. We haven't gotten any rain as of yet except for a few tiny drops yesterday. Your flowers look beautiful. The flowers on our deck and in our backyard that we bought at Home Depot has been quite lovely.

Do take care Sandra.

I know what you mean about the heat at 5.30 this morning.....unfortunately, if what the forecasters say is true, it is going to get hotter and we will be a nation of people suffering from lack of sleep - not good!!!!

We had a wonderful hot and sunny day with blue skies most of the day, it came over hazy but it cleared again quite quickly! I'm so glad Jake's getting better, a bit more rest and he'll be good as new! I love peonies and delphiniums. I know you'll love your trip to Russia, only three weeks to go! Have a good week! I was ever so pleased to hear that you and your dog are feeling better.  As for the early rise, I too am having the same problem.

If I do not here from you, before you go on holiday and I would not blame you, I hope you have a wonderful time and that you are able to send us all a few 'pics.'

I have heard wonderful stories from the ex Russian students I used to come in contact with before I retired.  Had I been a good traveller, I would have loved to see some of the sights that you are going to get the chance to see.

It is wonderful, through today's technology, that you can-so to speak-be our eyes while you are out there.

By for now,

John.

Hope the day ends better than it began, perhaps the coming storm will cool things off a bit. I'm sure by the time the actual date arrives for your trip to Russia, you will be excited and looking forward to it. Great news on Jake's paw. I was wondering the same thing as another reader, has your family crisis passed? (Hugs) Indigo

Glad your back is better and so is Jake's paw.  We never got a storm here. Actually today is very overcast and quite chilly compared to the last couple of days.  I am sure you will enjoy Russia.

Sandra

Great news about Jake and great news you are going to Russia.  Now don't forget to let me know when you pop the photos in your journal.. The Hermitage is a must place to visit.  Sandra it will blow your mind!!!!!  You will be stunned.  Don't forget to visit one of the many stalls and barter.  I bought a beautiful Russian stamp album, huge.  In excellent condition.  It cost me $10.  I only wished I bought the other one, but I was a bit worried about the weight of them both in my suitcase.  With hindsight, I wish I bought it and struggled!!!  I also bought two beautiful china russian dolls.  The workmanship is amazing.  Now you have a wonderful time, look forward to your story.  Shona

Hi, Sandra

Me again, shona!! Just had a comment left on my Journal.  This man loves his garden, he loves tomatoes..he is 93+ and Americas oldest blogger.  He asked me if I knew of any journal writers from England, that would like to read his journal.  He is a lovely man, he always calls himself "Dad", sweet.  Ok, heres the link,

"Each flower is a soul opening to nature."  I love that quote.  It's so poetic and feels so true.  Your flower pictures are truly beautiful.  The colors are dramatic and rich.  It must give you so much joy to see the fruits of your hard work pay off so beautifully.  I'm glad Jake's paw is getting better.  Poor guy.  It was nice of your son to wash your car ~ it was fair pay for having his ironing done!  I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip and seeing pictures.
Hugs,  Kathy

Hallo Sandra, Ivanovic lost in the French finals, she said through nerves.  I think I will place a bet on her for the semi-finals and the winner of Wimbledon.   Oh, just to say also, the horses were never placed, will try again next week.  shona
