Shopped, Dropped and Wrapped

Hello Everyone,

I hope you`ve all had a great weekend, I certainly have though I`m paying the price now. On Saturday I went shopping with Danny and Salina to Bluewater in Essex.  For those of you who don`t live in the South of England, it`s a huge shopping centre that has about everything you want and more.  You have to have a lot of energy to walk around it and more money than sense to spend there as it`s full of designer stores that are VERY pricey.  Of course they are out of my league and even if I could afford to shop in them I wouldn`t out of principle. An ordinary mens black knitted scarf cost £59.00 or about $150, can you believe it?  It was ONLY a scarf for goodness sake!  Anyway, I left that side of the shopping to the youngsters while I dreamt of a nice cup of coffee and some good bargains.  They bought me coffee and later a nice lunch so I easily forgave them for dragging me around their posh shops.  They bought Kerry, Slava, Roman, Jim`s and my Christmas presents and Dan insisted on carrying them all and wouldn`t hear of me or Sal carrying anything at all, eventually he relented and took the bags back to the car with arms much longer than when he started...lol!  I did find some bargains and I`ve almost finished my Christmas shopping, just Jim to buy for now, though perhaps I might pick up a little something else for Roman...and maybe Kerry and Danny...lol!  I did treat myself, not to clothes this time but to a mattress topper. I`ve always wanted one and after sleeping on a bed that had one my mind was made up.  I find one at last in John Lewis and it`s a little piece of luxury, just like sleeping on a feather bed...bliss!  After walking around Bluewater for 7 hours my feet and legs ached and my left hip was sore, I felt I`d aged 10 years in one day, I knew it was time to go home when Dan said he was tired, all 29 yrs of him...lol!  I must say before I change the subject what a wonderful son I have, he tries to hide it but he`d do anything for me.  Thanks Daniel , I love you to bits!

Sunday was another full day.  I had 2 weeks worth of ironing to do and I duly finished the the lot.  In the afternoon I wrapped Roman`s presents for Santa to collect at a later date, I`m running out of space to store them now Dan`s moving back home on Saturday.  He`ll be in our spare bedroom which at the moment is home to Roman`s cot and my extra wardrobe , which is staying mine, Dan is bringing his own.  I must admit it will be strange having him home again after so long but I think I`ll manage for six months without all my hair turning white...lol!  Like I said I love him to bits but we`re not used to living together anymore...watch this space to see if all runs smoothly, you`ll be the first to know!

I bought a cyclamen from work today, it was in the sale and only cost £1 as it has seen better days and needs some care and attention.  Over the last 2 months I`ve tended hundreds of them so I think I can save this one.  Our plant manager told me to use a little tomato fertilizer on it as it works wonders, she knows what shes talking about so I`ll give it a try. The orchid I rescued not long after I started there has flower buds on it now, I`ll take a photo once they open up.  We had a new member of staff start today, he seems really nice and friendly and it`s good not to be the `new girl` anymore...lol!  Anyway,  must away and read some journals.  I`ve not long finished yesterdays!  I hope you all have a nice evening, take care.:o)

Cheerio for now.

Trying To Catch Up

Hello Everyone,

I really thought I`d have to miss another day without posting an entry as I`ve been so busy all day.  I did some gardening before work and the job itself was busy all the time I was there.  When I got home I had a list of jobs as long as my arm because I`ve let the housework slip the last couple of weekends and I just had to catch up before it all got too much.  Anyway, I`m almost up to date now, apart from a couple of loads of washing to put in my lovely new washing machine and I have the rest of the evening free...apart from watching `I`m a Celebrity...` at 8pm, mustn`t miss that...lol!

Our weekend in Kent was really smashing, we left the dreadful weather behind in Berkshire and enjoyed a full two days of warm sunshine.  We wrapped up well against the sea breeze and didn`t feel cold at all and it was really nice to breathe the fresh air, especially as I had developed this cold.  I think if we`d been able to stay there longer I wouldn`t have suffered the cold symptoms at all.  Jim`s sister`s bungalow is really nice and as for her garden, well it would suit me fine.  They have this small apple tree that is sheltered by a high brick wall, it attracts so many different kinds of birds it`s unbelieveable.  I sat watching them out of the window for over 30 mins on the Saturday morning until my SIL asked me if I was going out with them or not!

Jim and Steve had already taken Jake for a long walk from Epple Bay to Minnis Bay and back, giving him chance to chase seagulls and have a swim.  In fact he swam, and swam and swam and by the time they came home he was exhausted and slept for most of the day. We all left him to it and went into Margate, I hadn`t been there since we were first married 32 years ago and it had hardly changed either. It is a little more faded than I remembered but the seaside always looks different at this time of year.  It was sad to see the old seawater swimming pool had been filled in for `Health and Safety Reasons`, I don`t know what they are but I`m sure somebody does somewhere...sigh.  We walked around the small shops there where I bought a nice pair of black leather gloves for just £6, they`ll be very useful for driving when it gets really cold.  I also bought a few things for Roman to wrap up for Christmas and some fingerless gloves for work, it get`s pretty cold in the shop.  Later in the day we went home, changed into warm clothes and wellies and headed for Minnis Bay to walk Jake and go `crabbing`.  Jim was really looking forward to catching some, and he did too, fourteen of them though they weren`t edible.  The fisherman in him was satisfied until his next day at the lakeside...lol!

That evening we went out for a meal in Broadstairs at a restaurant called The Captain Digby which is situated it is situated at the top of a cliff; not that I could tell because it was pitch black when we arrived there.  Sue told that it`s a lovely place to visit in Summer when you can eat looking out to sea.  Anyway, the food was delicious and we had a really friendly waitress, both very important in my book.

On Sunday morning after a hearty breakfast we went to Westgate where I spent several happy family holidays until my parents divorced when I was 11.  Westgate as I remembered it was very quiet and charming and I wasn`t disappointed.  Although it was out of season it was still very pretty and remarkably clean.  Several new buildings had sprung up over the years but what could I expect after 43 years?  We walked along the promendade because it was high tide but on the way back it had started to go out and the beach was alive with seabirds.  I watched the Oystercatchers squabbling over the mussels and whelks that they caught, just like schoolchildren with sweets, what a row they made.  Before long we had to go back to have our Sunday lunch before heading home.  Sue cooked us a wonderful meal of roast lamb, roast potatoes, broccolli, parnips and cauliflower and then we had to leave.  However we were told that we are welcome to visit them anytime and you can bet we will take them up on the offer.  We are seriously thinking of moving down to Kent eventually, it`s a much nicer area, the properties are cheaper and it has everything we need, but until then we`ll remain here and visit them as often as we can.

Bye Bye for now. :o)

Oh yes, I almost forgot.  I want to wish all my American friends a very

Shopping, Shopping and more Shopping!

Hello Everyone,

I`m just popping in to say Hello.  I took a days holiday today so that Jim and I could go Christmas shopping in Reading.  We spent the entire day there and have bought nearly all the presents I`d planned on getting this year.  My purse is much lighter than this morning and my debit card nearly worn out but it`s nice to know that I don`t have much left to buy.  Now of course for the mammoth task of wrapping them all up and writing out the Christmas cards.  Now Danny is moving back home I won`t have any space to store them all...Oh well, I`d better give Father Christmas a call and see if he can look after them for me...lol!

Of course it wasn`t possible to go shopping without buying myself something now was it?  I bought a lovely cardigan/jacket for the chilly days ahead.  I got it from Marks&Spencer`s and it`s a great fit as well as looking very stylish.  I have to find a present for Danny who has no idea what he wants, he`s exactly the same every year.  "Don`t worry about buying me anything"  he says, as does Jim who is just as difficult to buy for.  Hmm...One Christmas I`ll surprise them both and buy them nothing, that`ll teach `em...lol!  I also have to buy for my brother and my two nephews and a couple of friends.  Also at the beginning of the year I started buying cash stamps from Tesco.  I was really worried that I wouldn`t be working and I wanted to make sure I could by Roman some presents regardless.  Now I have a job and the stamps I`ve saved, next week I`m going to redeem them on some clothes and toys, it`ll be like getting something for nothing.

Jim and I are totally worn out after our long day shopping, mind you we really enjoyed it and we had a lovely lunch at a place called Tootsie`s, an upmarket burger restaurant.  The food there is delicious and the service is second to none. There`ll be no evening meal for us as we didn`t eat until nearly 2.30 which is a good thing because I haven`t got the energy to cook anyway.  Still I did manage to drag myself upstairs to the PC...lol!  Anyway, I want to read some journals before I watch `I`m a Celebrity.....` at 9, I`m becoming really engrossed in it already!  Bye for now. :o)

Miseries, Pain and Explosions...lol!

Hello Everyone,

The last three days I`ve been lurching from one disaster to another.  Not disasters actually, more like episodes. Unless you count the washing machine blowing up....yes, blowing up......on Saturday afternoon, that WAS a disaster as it tripped the fuses and is now as dead as the proverbial Dodo.  We are now awaiting the arrival of a new one, an expense that we could have done without at this time of year. When I heard a loud bang coming from the kitchen, I ran downstairs much to quickly, slipped and pulled a muscle in my leg that is still hurting.  When I`d emptied the machine of my half-rinsed duvet covers, mopped the floor where the water had spilled from the door, I realised that all my work clothes would have to be washed by hand...sigh.  I took me ages to handwash them all, wring them out and hang on the line, thank goodness it was a dry, windy day.  I`m afraid I`m spoiled and can`t imagine life without a washing machine, these hands weren`t made to rub and scrub...lol!

In the afternoon when I was on the computer I had to bend down and turn on the printer. I didn`t look what I was doing, lifted my head up to quickly and collided with the desktop...did I see stars!!!  Now I had a broken washer, a painful leg muscle and a sore head...and it was only the afternoon.....  but there`s more.  Later when bringing in my still dripping washing, the wind blew the rotary line around and it hit me on the head....again!  Luckily for me it was the last time anything went wrong on Saturday.....but there was still Sunday and Monday ...lol!

Sunday was no better accident-wise.  In the course of the day the following occurred:

Burnt hand on iron.

stuck needle in left index finger .

Tore nail on finger next to left index finger, right across the nail bed....OUCH!

Dropped bag of frozen chicken on big toe.

Burnt hand on oven shelf.

That was Sunday all wrapped up for you.  It would have taken forever to tell you how it happened and I don`t want to send you to sleep with boredom...lol!

Today was different again, up till now I`ve had no accidents but from the moment I got to work all the miserable customers seemed to arrive at once.  I don`t get it, I`m polite and am as helpful as I can be.  If I don`t know something I find somebody who does.  Is it enough for some people?  You bet it`s not.  I`d love to be able to tell you exactly what happened today but obviously I can`t do that.  What I will say is that when it was almost time to come home I served an woman and her elderly mother.  They turned my day around, they were both, the most polite, sweet-natured women, anyone would wish to meet.  Then after they left and I was making my way to my car I saw a beautiful Red Kite flying through the trees in the car park.  I saw one when I first started working there if you remember but this time it was just hovering not far above me.  I felt the day had changed with the nice ladies and the glorious bird.  Tomorrow will be a much better day I`m sure.

By the way,  Roman`s leg was much better by Saturday morning so he didn`t need to see a doctor after all.  Today however, he fell over and bit his upper lip, drawing a fair bit of blood.  Kerry said she was really worried but I told her it always looks worse when it`s the mouth because of the saliva.  Again Roman was fine though his lip is a bit sore on the inside.  Anyway, Slava will be here to collect him soon so I`ll go and read some journals.  I want to watch the new series of `I`m a Celebrity...` at 9pm so I`d better get a move on. :o)

A Memory of Dad

                 My Dad, 1917-1984

Hello Everyone,

I decided as it was Remembrance Sunday that I would write about my Dad, BSM William R. Smith who served with the Royal Artillery, firstly and very briefly in France, then in Burma and India until the end of WWII.

Dad was in the Terrotorial Army originally but found himself in the regular army when war was declared in 1939.  He was just 22.  I was going to relate one or two of the stories that he told me but I find I just can`t tell anyone, they are far too personal and they were his memories, not mine. I feel like it would be breaking a confidence.  What I will say though, is that he would never watch the film, Bridge Over The River Kwai, starring Alec Guinness.  One day he was visiting us in the house where we used to live, that film came on and he put down his cup of tea, made his excuses and walked out of the door without another word.  I knew better than to call him back, even if it were to tell him that we switched the TV off.  There was obviously much that he hadn`t told me,  things that obviously troubled him deep down.

My Dad was just an ordinary man, one of many, who spent six years of his youth fighting for the freedom thart we all take for granted .  He was one of the lucky ones, he came home.  But he never forgot the ones who didn`t.

Armistice Day

Hello Friends,

Today is Armistice Day.  The anniversary of the day the guns fell silent at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month in 1918, marking the end of WW1. At 11am, the exact time of the ceasefire, we observed a two minute silence to honour and remember those who fought and died fighting for their country in all wars since.  There is little that I can add so I`ve decided to post an article I found on the internet, along with the famous poem, In Flanders Fields.

In Flanders Fields the poppies grow,
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

Major John McCrae MD, 1872-1918, Canadian Army

McCrae's "In Flanders Fields" remains to this day one of the most memorable war poems ever written. It is a lasting legacy of the terrible battle in the Ypres salient in the spring of 1915. Here is the story of the making of that poem:

Although he had been a doctor for years and had served in the South African War, it was impossible to get used to the suffering, the screams, and the blood here, and Major John McCrae had seen and heard enough in his dressing station to last him a lifetime.

As a surgeon attached to the 1st Field Artillery Brigade, Major McCrae, who had joined the McGill faculty in 1900 after graduating from the University of Toronto, had spent seventeen days treating injured men -- Canadians, British, Indians, French, and Germans -- in the Ypres salient.

It had been an ordeal that he had hardly thought possible. McCrae later wrote of it:

"I wish I could embody on paper some of the varied sensations of that seventeen days... Seventeen days of Hades! At the end of the first day if anyone had told us we had to spend seventeen days there, we would have folded our hands and said it could not have been done."

One death particularly affected McCrae. A young friend and former student, Lieut. Alexis Helmer of Ottawa, had been killed by a shell burst on 2 May 1915. Lieutenant Helmer was buried later that day in the little cemetery outside McCrae's dressing station, and McCrae had performed the funeral ceremony in the absence of the chaplain.

The next day, sitting on the back of an ambulance parked near the dressing station beside the Canal de l'Yser, just a few hundred yards north of Ypres, McCrae vented his anguish by composing a poem. The major was no stranger to writing, having authored several medical texts besides dabbling in poetry.

In the nearby cemetery, McCrae could see the wild poppies that sprang up in the ditches in that part of Europe, and he spent twenty minutes of precious rest time scribbling fifteen lines of verse in a notebook.

A young soldier watched him write it. Cyril Allinson, a twenty-two year old sergeant-major, was delivering mail that day when he spotted McCrae. The major looked up as Allinson approached, then went on writing while the sergeant-major stood there quietly. "His face was very tired but calm as we wrote," Allinson recalled. "He looked around from time to time, his eyes straying to Helmer's grave."

When McCrae finished five minutes later, he took his mail from Allinson and, without saying a word, handed his pad to the young NCO. Allinson was moved by what he read:

"The poem was exactly an exact description of the scene in front of us both. He used the word blow in that line because the poppies actually were being blown that morning by a gentle east wind. It never occurred to me at that time that it would ever be published. It seemed to me just an exact description of the scene."

In fact, it was very nearly not published. Dissatisfied with it, McCrae tossed the poem away, but a fellow officer retrieved it and sent it to newspapers in England. The Spectator, in London, rejected it, but Punch published it on 8 December 1915.

The Late Edition of The Scribbles

Hello Everyone,

Oh dear...I`m almost overcome with emotion...if I`m not careful I`ll start crying... Am I being sarcastic I hear you ask?  Well, just a tad, It`s just that AOL have finally relented and kindly allowed me to post a comment without me feeling the need to beat my head against the PC in frustration.!

I`ve had a really nice week,  work has gone really well.  I just love this job and look forward to going in each morning, am I alone in that I wonder?  I think it`s because there is no stress involved and it`s certainly not boring. I`m surrounded by all sorts of people, whether they be customers or work colleagues.  I`m learning knew things about plants and gardening everyday and find that I`m giving advice when it`s asked for, something I thought would be beyond me when I started there six weeks ago, six weeks already, can you believe it?  Yesterday I was moving displays around in the shop and I was allowed to arrange a stand the way I thought fit.  Just a small thing in the scheme of things but very important for me.

We`ve just taken delivery of some lovely rose bushes.  Hybrid Teas, Floribundas and Climbers.  The one I particularly liked was the  double flowered `Schoolgirl`, a scented climber with double-flowered orange coloured blossoms.  I might treat myself because it`s the right time to plant and it will flower in the Summer into late Autumn.

I had a bit of a scare with Roman this evening.  He slipped over, got up again and seemed fine,  it seemed nothing at all.  However his left leg kept giving way beneath him and he was getting very upset.  I picked him up and went and phoned Kerry.  She told me to call Slava to take him to A&E but while we were talking he started walking properly again so the panic was over.  Later he started limping again, but this time it was not so bad as before.  I`ll explain to Slava when he gets home and ask him to watch him very carefully over the weekend.  I`m thinking perhaps he pulled a muscle when he slipped, at least I hope that`s all, he seems alright in himself so I`m not unduly concerned for now.  Little Man was exhausted tonight and nearly fell asleep on my lap before I took him to bed at 7 pm.  We did have some fun earlier despite the scare.  He found my yoghurt that I`d hidden from him when I wasn`t looking and I found him trying his best to open it...if I`d left it just a moment longer he would have found a way, he loves yoghurt and would have polished off the whole pot!

I found out more about that accident that happened after our return from Amsterdam:

1) it WAS`NT fatal thank goodness, but the two occupants were taken to hospital.

2) It WAS`NT a police chase but it WAS a stolen car.

3)  It demolished ONE parked car and not two.

It turns out that the owner of the parked car was about to sell it as she is emigrating to Australia next week. She is really upset as I`m sure she won`t get as much from her Insurance company as from a private sale.

As you probably know AOL have been causing me no end of problems this week.  Firstly it has been running so slowly that it took forever to access journals, then once I was in it wouldn`t let me leave a comment,  It kept asking me to for my screenname and password and then told me that I wasn`t a recognised member of AOL...NO?  Then I can stop paying subscriptions and they won`t complain.   How can they when I`m not a member ?...lol!  Anyway it seems that everything is back to normal ( see first paragraph)  Hopefully it will stay that way.

Before I go I want to congratulate two winners of the VIVI awards, I say two because I don`t know the rest just yet.  My dear friend Jeannette of Jeannette`s Jottings has won Best International Award and doesn`t she just deserve it too, Very well done Jeannette!  Then of course there is our Jan of Serendipity, she has won The Lady of The Blog, a huge round of applause for her too, another well deserved win.  So for them both......Three cheers....  Hip Hip Hooray!!!!!

Anyway, I really want to read some journals while I have the chance so I`ll bid you all farewell.  Have a lovely evening and a great weekend.

Oh yes, nearly forgot.  Slava has a new job starting in a couple of weeks.  It`s a much better one than he has  and it has good prospects too.  He also finishes earlier in the evening so Roman will be home in his own bed much earlier.  Good news all round I think!

Cheerio!

Weekend Photos

Hello Everyone,

Just a few photos that Jim took this afternoon whilst walking Jake.  I took the last two of this evenings sunset, my contribution to the entry...lol!  We`re battening down the hatches as the next bombardment of fireworks is just starting.  Poor Jake is terrified already so I hope they won`t be too loud.  I have a very sore throat at the moment so a cold is imminent I`m afraid...oh well, not much I can do about it, I`ll just have to put up with it like everyone else...cough, splutter!  Cheerio for now and have a lovely evening. :o)

Tales From Amsterdam + Catching Up

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to a really lovely Saturday afternoon here in this little corner of England.  (I`ve gone all poetic today...lol!)  After a cold, frosty start the sun has been shining all day.  It certainly lifts the spirits considerably

Before I tell you about our last day in Amsterdam I`ll bring you up to date with my week.  It`s mainly been the usual ` go to work, come home, cook dinner` apart from Thursday when I went to Tesco all by myself again.  There`s nothing nicer than shopping alone with a your husband`s credit card at your mercy, I`m surprised Jim let me out of the house...lol!  It WAS nice to do the food shop again and get the things I needed.  Jim does a great job for a bloke but apart from spending less cash at the till I do it much better job.  We have to juggle the shopping so that he looks after Roman while I do the shopping.  When he`s on late shift I`m at work so he shops.  It all depends on the circumstances but it does work for us.

Yesterday we both went shopping in town, taking Little Man with us. When I collected him from Kerry`s he went mad when he saw me and didn`t even want to give her a kiss goodbye....little scamp that he is!  He really seems to love going out with us and he`s great fun to have around.  After visiting the bank I went to have my eyebrows threaded.  Usually a nice girl called Nitu does it but instead there was a beautician that I`d not seen before...in fact I don`t want to see again either.  Threading, as I`ve explained before, is a the ancient art of hair removal first practised in Persia, now Iran.  There was nothing artistic about yesterday`s session, it was more like torture.  It fet like she was removing my skin, not shaping my eyebrows, and judging by the look on her face she was enjoying too!  Please be there next time Nitu, I can`t go through that again...lol!  To over come the shock we went to Marks and Spencer for cappuchinos and to give Roman his dinner.  He is always fussed by the lovely Louise who works in the cafe and has seen him since he was six weeks old.  Like so many other people she adores his big blue eyes...methinks he`ll be a real charmer when he grows up.  I bought myself a few bits and pieces and I got Roman a hooded top and a long sleeved t-shirt from Primark, just £6 for the two.

On the way home I stopped to fill up with petrol.  Whilst waiting to pay I saw three suspicious looking teenagers come into the shop.  I couldn`t believe it as they filled their pockets with goods from the shelves and walked out of the door, they didn`t even try to hide what they`d done.  The lady at the check-out couldn`t see them and anyway she was serving customers and the manager DID see them but just shook his head.  But nobody DID anything, I couldn`t have been the only customer to have seen them, the shop has CCTV but they just got away with stealing .  Doesn`t anyone care anymore?

Now for the last of our exploits in Amsterdam, and they ain`t all culture either...lol!

I`ve really mixed up the order in which we did things so I`ll just slot them in as we go along.  On Saturday afternoon we went for a walk, not to anywhere in particular, just a casual walk.  We saw a nice little alleyway so we thought we`d give it a try, Jim has a great sense of direction so we knew we wouldn`t get lost.  We chatted merrily away as we walked and I noticed this elderly couple in front of us do a u-turn but it didn`t cross my mind as to why. We turned a corner and I looked straight into a window with a red neon strip above the door and had to do a double take.  We were now in the Red Light district and the home of the `ladies of the night`, not of course that Jim had noticed until I had nudged him several times...lol!  It was actually a fascintating place, not at all as sleazy as I`d expected.  There was a relaxed police presence and the place was full of tourists.  There were however drug pushers around but we`d read all the police warnings and knew how to behave if approached by them, which we were or at least Jim was...twice.  One man actually asked him if he had any for sale much to his disgust and my amusement, the poor bloke looks far too innocent for that...lol!   It seems strange to think of a sex industry that is legal and pays taxes, but that`s just what happens in laid back Holland, and strangely enough it works too.  Whether we like it or not these things go on and in my opinion, far better that it`s legal and controlled than illegal and underground.  Soliciting in the streets is illegal and smoking cannabis is only allowed in designated places.  The Dutch certainly seem to know what they`re doing. I certainly felt far safer in Amsterdam`s red light district than I have in London`s Soho where there is a definite air of menace.

On Sunday morning we went to Artis Zoo by Metro water bus, a great form of travel that I highly recommend if you live in a cty that has a network of canals.  It took just twenty minutes to get there and a five minute walk from the bus stop. We had a lovely day there, the zoo is a mixture of old and cutting edge new.  The animals were all very well looked after and all had excellent accomodation.  When we were watching the sealions a little Dutch boy was chatting happily away to me.  I didn`t know the words he used but fully understood the sentiment behind them, children are the same the world over, he was such a sweetie.

Later on when we left the zoo we took another water bus but this time in another direction, we decided to stay on board for the duration of the trip so we could rest, take photos and see different areas of the city.  As evening fell we watched as the city lights came on. One by one they came to life, the houseboats, the canal bridges and the street lights that are much prettier than the ones we have here. The canal ride was a perfect 90 mins at the end of a wonderfulweekend. The whole weekend was an adventure from start to finish, a revelation as well as a fun time. There were things that shocked, Anne Frank`s Museum made us sad, there were things that made us laugh and the horrendous traffic that almost turned our hair white.  But guess what, I wouldn`t have missed for the world! :o)

Cheerio for now. :o)
