Hello everyone,
Before I start this entry proper, I`d like to thank you all for your good wishes on my nomination for Best Family Journal in the VIVI awards, you are such lovely people. :o)
I got paid for the first time today and got the whole lot in cash as there was a mix up at head office and they forgot all about me. Anyway, I came home a little bit richer and now I have to take all three sackfuls of dosh to the bank ...I wish...lol! I really have to get into town sometime between now and Thursday to get a few bits and pieces for our weekend away, just a few bits, though I HAVE seen a really nice jacket in Marks and Spencer. I thought perhaps I`d pop in there, just have a little look you understand. :o)
I treated Jim to some nice cream leather gardening gloves today and a patio weeder, he asked for the latter and I bought the former to stop him using mine, he always stretches them and then they are no good to me. He`s really going to like these, although I`m sure they won`t stay looking quite as good once he`s worn them outside. Of course that IS what they`re for so I shouldn`t complain. One of you made a comment that I`d probably spend all my wages there and I must say they are not far wrong, I know I will spend money there because I get a good discount but hopefully after a while the novelty will wear off a bit. Mind you having said that they have some lovely Christmas bits and pieces....lol!
I`ve had quite a busy weekend, despite not going anywhere. Saturday Danny came over for a cuppa and to show us his new car in the daylight. On Sunday he was here for dinner and Kerry, Slava and Roman visited for a couple of hours also, so what with catching up with tons of housework, loads of washing and ironing I`m really tired and was glad to go back to work for a rest...lol! I was pleasantly surprised when a lady that usued to work in the restaurant came into the centre, she was as surprised to see me working there as I was to see her. Jim and I always had a good laugh with her when we had our lunches in the restaurant and we missed seeing her around the place. We chatted away for ages and she told me to send her best wishes to Jim, who missed her too, because once she left he didn`t have anyone to complain about the service there......it was a standing joke between them...lol!
Roman has cut six more teeth over the last few weeks, without so much as a whimper either. I can`t believe he cut four double teeth without any problems at all, they always seem to give babies the most trouble, at least they did in my experience. I think it`s good that he isn`t suffering with them, good for Kerry and Slava too. Hopefully he`ll cut the lot with no trouble at all...fingers crossed!
I`ve started packing for our trip already as I like to be organised. I haven`t a clue what to take apart from an umbrella because Kerry, who has been there many times, says it rain a lot especially at this time of year. I`ll have to look at the long range weather forecast for Amsterdam and then just hope for the best, we don`t want to take too much just for four days but we don`t want to be too warm or too cold either...sigh. We fly out Friday morning and Kerry is taking us to the airport. Luckily we`re flying from Heathrow which is only about 10 miles from here so we don`t have to get up TOO early, not that I know exactly what time our flight is...hmm, must make a note to ask Jim...lol!
AAAAHHHH! I nearly jumped out of my skin just then....a firework exploded just across the road from me...horrible things! We`ve been treated to a barrage of them over the weekend because of the Hindu festival of Dhiwali. Every year they seem to get louder and louder and poor Jake won`t set a paw outside the door after it gets dark. I suppose now they`re here to stay until long after Guy Fawkes Night on November 5th. I like organised displays but the constant din for no particular reason for weeks on end is too much for me. That`s it, rant over.
Anyway my friends, I`m going to make a cup of tea to calm my shattered nerves...lol! Have a really nice evening. Cheerio for now. :o)

My poor Sassy is afraid of fireworks that we have to give her a pill everytime ,,,she also is afraid of big trucks...lol poor thing,,,,,, she is a big baby, DIANE
I knew you would end up blowing your first lot of wages, and why not. I would do the same thing and I would love to be able to work in a place like that and get discount because you know how I am about plants and garden things. I love garden centres, used to go to your particular one a great deal although it is some drive away. I do miss not being able to go because they used to have wonderful Christmas displays, great pet supplies and pot pourri and all that sort of stuff, not to mention the plants. I hope you enjoy your trip to Amsterdam but we will all miss you.

I've been checking Amsterdam, wondering what kind of weather Bob & Cheryl are having there. And it's been about 60-65 degrees with rain. Here's a link to a web cam that shows one of the city streets and gives the temp, etc over on the left.
http://www.overtoom.tv/. Leather gloves are especially good when your working with roses. I have several pair and use them when I'm doing anything with roses so I don't get scratched. Otherwise I don't like gloves when I'm gardening. I just put tons of hand lotion on and go out & dig in. The lotion coats your hands and makes them easier to wash up when you're done. I had a dog that was so terrified of fireworks that he ran away one year because the neighbors were setting them off. We got lucky because he could be a real pain in the butt if you didn't understand his language, so a month later the people he wound up with put him in an animal rescue that notified us they had a dog that might be ours. But I haven't liked the fireworks ever since.

Oh bother! I have to read your entire entry in a british accent and my is not quite up to par, I'm afraid!
Although... they say that the US southern accent and the english accent aren't too far apart which is why Vivien Leigh was able to play Scarlett O'Hara so aptly. I'm not quite sure...
At any rate... I'm rather enjoying your journal... and have you on alerts!
*hugs*

I'm glad you've settled into the job Sandra and picked up your first wage packet! Go on, get the jacket, that's what money's for! That was a lot of teeth for Roman to cut so quickly! He's growing so quickly now. It's nice that you see him so often otherwise you'd miss all those moments. Have a good week! Jeannette xx
It must have been lovely to receive your first pay cheque (even if it was in cash) and have lots of fun spending it "I know you will" ~ glad Roman is cutting his teeth with no pain ~ let's hope the rest come thro' so easily ~ Hope your weekend to Amsterdam goes well and you won't need that umbrella ~ I think Fireworks should be banned before and after 5th November ~ I love the organised displays ~ but they can be a nuisance at other times frightening our pets ~ congratulations on your nomination for the Vivi's ~ Ally
I once sold Avon and ended up doing the same thing you're doing. What fun! And after all, you didn't go mad, now did you?
I wondered what all the fireworks were about so early. Now I know. Poor Jake! Since your old girls don't lay anymore, at least you don't have to worry about them being affected to badly. Though I imagine it's just as terrifying for them, poor dears.
Enjoy your holiday!

Woo, congrats on the first paycheck. What will you do with 3 bags of money? LOL I do hope you have a wonderful time on your holiday. Take lots of pictures to share with us when you come back. I wonder if there will be any tulips blooming while you are there. I would imagine not. Hope they have that jacket in your size! You deserve a new jacket.
Hugs, Kathy
