I`m Back!

Hello Everyone,

I`m back!  I thought I`d pop in to say that we had a great time in Amsterdam.  We arrived back here at around noon, though I can`t say for certain as I didn`t bother looking at the clock!

It is a really wonderful city, busy and vibrant though slightly decadent, which only adds to its considerable charm.  I`ll tell you all about it tomorrow when I`ll post some of the many photos that we took in the course of the weekend.

We had a major incident just down the road to us this afternoon. The first I knew of it was when Jim came home from the local shops and saw that there was a police roadblock.  Apparently a car being chased by the police lost control, veered of the road, across the wide grass area and crashed through a tree and a telegraph pole and into two parked cars.  Apparently the steering wheel of the vehicle was pushed through the roof and we`ve heard they have been two fatalities.  I`ll let you know when I hear more about it which shouldn`t be too long.  I`ll say Goodnight now and hopefully I`ll be reading your journals again tomorrow.

Cheerio for now.

I can't WAIT to see the pictures of Amsterdam! Love the wooden shoes! My dad works for a dutch owned company (ING) and there was a possibility, many years ago, when I was in middle school (so that's MANY years ago!) that he would be transferred there... being a girl... and an inquisitive girl... I soaked up all I could on Dutch-ness... those wooden shoes take me back.... *sigh*

Share when you can!
*hugs*

I agree with you about Amsterdam, it is a wonderful city. Mind you, yours truly fell over on the cobbles and before my then husband could pick me up, 2 ladies of the night (even though it was daytime!) came rushing to my aid -you could say I was picked up by a pair of........and no, I am not joking!!!

Glad you're back safe & sound.  Bob & his daughter got back from Amsterdam Saturday night late.  He brought me a beautiful Delt plate and some wooden shoes with tulip bulbs in them.  He said the traffic in Amsterdam is crazy with all the cars, buses, bikes, motor scooters, etc.  Anxious to see your pictures.  Linda in WA

I would think it would be a bit disturbing to return to the sound of police sirens in your own neck of the woods. Sounds strange to say, but hopefully, the fatalities are a couple of very, very bad men.

Welcome back stranger!  I missed you!  Those Dutch shoes are so wonderful!  Things like you described with the police never seem to make the news unless it's a slow day.  I'm so grateful that those people went into a field instead of someone's house or a school!  What a horrid welcome back!

Love,

Susie
