The First day Over

Hello Everyone,

I`ve finished my first day at the new job and I really enjoyed it too.  It was a bit nerve-wracking being on my own on the till/cash register but I`m making less mistakes than I was.  My manager P. is really nice and she`s given me loads of help and support. She told me to call someone as many times as I like if I need help, all she wants is accuracy not speed ( which is good because that will take me some time...lol!) Everyone there seems really nice and friendly, and considering I must be the oldest employee there that was more than I was expecting.  Also some of the customers I already know from the garden centre cafe and they couldn`t believe as I was working there. Nor indeed, could the owners of the cafe either.  It wasn`t busy today, apparently it never is on a Monday but tomorrow will be different as it`s discount day for the over 60`s, but I`m sure I`ll manage .  I also helped with clearing up the shop and making it as tidy as possible.  I like a tidy working area so it was my pleasure, but I didn`t tell THEM that,...lol!  I found that the time went really fast because I kept myself busy but I have to admit to being really tired at the moment.

I was only home 45 mins when Kerry and Roman turned up so I had no time to myself, luckily I`d done the housework before I went to work so I didn`t have to come home to it.  Little man really kept me busy today, he`s walking everywhere now I and he doesn`t sit still for a minute.  When it was time for his wash I had to follow him around the room and to make things worse he thinks it`s a game.  I tried to tell him his poor Nanna is too old for all that but he just laughed....lol!  By the time it was bedtime the little love was worn out, if they`d been room in his cot I`d have jumped in with him...lol!

I want to thank you all for your good wishes for this morning.  I really believe it helped knowing that you were all backing me to succeed. :o)

Before I go I have to tell you that Jake has disgraced himself,at least in Jim`s eyes, so if you happen to have rabbits read no further.........

Whilst out with Jim on Saturday, he allegedly(?) killed a wild bunny.  I say allegedly because it didn`t have any blood on it and Jake, being a labrador has a very soft mouth for retrieving game, and never bites on anything really hard.  My bet is that he chased it and it died of shock, he doesn`t run fast enough to catch a healthy adult and he`s the only one who knows what happened and he isn`t saying anything in his defence...lol!  I forgive him anyway.

I must go now, I have 198 alerts to read but I doubt I`ll have time for them all.  If I don`t read your journal everyday I apologise but I won`t have as much time now as I did.  On the days when Kerry doesn`t work I`ll find more time to go on the PC but on days like today I only have from 6.30pm till 9pm.  I hope you`ve all had a lovely day, take care and Nite Nite. :o)

Glad that your first day went well. More than likely Jake didn't meaningly kill the rabbit. Our DIL put the G-daughter's young rabbit outside in it's cage one day and a big dog came running up barking at it and it killed over dead from fright. Helen

So pleased you've got the first day done and dusted. Good luck with the stampede of pensioners tomorrow - it's going to rain and they're known to be lethal with a brolly. Keep laughing.

I knew you'd be good there! You'll feel like an old hand tomorrow! I understand you not having a lot of time for alerts, I get a bit overwhelmed when I'm doing 8 and 10hr shifts! There's just not enough hours in the day, I sit up till 3am answering them and making comments! I'm sure Jake didn't mean to kill the bunny! I had a rabbit years ago and the two dogs across the road tore her to pieces, they'd been warned by the farmer they'd been worrying his sheep, Jake's not like that so we'll forgive him! I knew it would go well. I also knew you would feel tired, just wait until the end of the week- you will be glad to have a rest.  It is hard once you are out of the routine and you are now going to have a much busier life.  Sandra, do what I do, the days I post an entry I comment on others. The days I do not post, I do not comment on others usually - otherwise I would never be off this computer xxxx

Yeah!  So glad your first day went so well!  Good going!  I'm sure you will like it even better as you get used to the routine and get faster at the register.  Jake is still perfect in my eyes.  LOL  He's a retriever and cannot help his instincts.  I have to laugh when I read what you write about Roman as he walks around the house getting into everything.  Oh, my!  They are so busy at that age and they are so fast, too.  Enjoy every minute.  He'll be grown up all too soon.
