Hello Everyone,
I hope you`re all enjoying this lovely Sunday afternoon. The sun is shining here in my little corner of England, though it is a bit on the chilly side. I won`t complain though because I`d rather it was sunny and cold than mild and wet.
Yesterday as I said in my journal, I was babysitting for Roman. I think it`s only fair to tell you that I think my darling, sunny natured grandson has been abducted by aliens and replaced by a screaming, howling little bundle of fury. How is it possible to go from this:
TO THIS
almost overnight? I can only guess that it is the alien theory or the terrible twos are kicking in a year early. The last couple of nights he hasn`t been as keen to go to bed as usual, even when he can hardly keep his eyes open. Last night however, was a different ball game entirely. He started to cry half way up the stairs and once in his cot he proceeded to scream louder than I`ve ever heard him before. I went downstairs hoping that he would cry himself to sleep....not a chance. Our living room is right below his bedroom and apart from the screaming I heard him jumping up and down in his cot too. After 10 mins of it I went upstairs just to make sure there wasn`t anything wrong with him and of course there was`nt, he just didn`t want to go to bed. His dummy, his duvet, pyjama bottoms and two cuddly toys were all on the floor and he had a very cross expression on his very red face. I tidied up the bedroom, put his jammies back on and took him downstairs where he fell asleep after about 5 mins. I took him quietly back upstairs but the moment I went to leave he started to cry again. This time I completely ignored him and sat down and ate my dinner, this time I wasn`t going to pick him. It workedtoo, he screamed and yelled for a while and then suddenly stopped. Once I`d finished my meal I checked on him and found he had fallen asleep all right, again without his pyjama bottoms......why he does that I have no idea! He was fine until about 10.30 when he decided that he wasn`t going to stay in bed any longer and I got him out of bed and into his Mickey Mouse dressing gown and slippers. When Kerry arrived home she was surprised to see him and wondered what he would be like when she got him home. She called this morning to tell me he slept right through the night but has woken up in a really bad mood.....it`s like I said, he`s been abducted my aliens...lol!
Today is a Roman-free zone and with Jim working this afternoon I`m here all on my own...ah bliss! It is really nice to have some precious free time where I`m not constantly looking at the clock to remind myself that I have something to do. After a morning spent doing a huge pile of ironing I am in the middle of a do-what-I-want-when-I-want time!
Danny has been having landlord trouble again. Do you remember the last time when she gave him notice to quit then retracted it? Well this time she has issued another notice to quit because she has decided to sell, not long after she decided not to! Confused? You will be by the time I finish. After the original retraction of notice, she decided again to sell but to a couple who wanted to keep him on as their tenant. Everything was going well until Mrs Landlady changed her mind and withdrew the sale of the property. THEN...she decided to sell again, but this time to a young couple who want to live in the flat forcing Danny to move again! He has told her that he can`t wait to move after the dreadful way she has treated him, she has even threatened to keep some of his deposit because he won`t allow her access when he isn`t at the flat. She has no legal right to do that but I wouldn`t put anything past her. I can see a court case coming up though I hope it won`t come to that. We have all discussed the matter and it may be that he will come here to live for a couple of months, we`ll have to see what happens first. I do know that he`ll be better off out of it and I hope she doesn`t change her mind about the sale, the couple buying the flat won`t thank her if she pulls out and leaves them with legal fees and no new home.
I`m off to make a coffee now, enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Bye Bye and take care. :o)

I went through exactly the same with my youngest son when he was that age! He'd just scream and scream at night when I tried to put him to bed! I thought maybe he'd had nightmares and was frightened to be left alone at night.. Could be why Roman was grumpy in the morning too if he had another nightmare. Or maybe your alien theory is right! If so I hope they deliver the same little charming boy back to you! Poor Danny, it must be awful not knowing what his landlord is going to do, maybe the aliens could abduct her too! Jeannette xx
That does sound odd for Roman to act like that from being such a sweet baby. Maybe is is cutting more teeth or just wanting attention. I agree with jeannette, the aliens might should get Danny's landlady LOL. Glad you are having some alone time. Helen
I hope Roman has no more alien nights. Poor baby, he's probably grumpy from a sore throat from screaming! :)

Nice to have some me time isnt it ?I wonder is Roman having nightmares ,the behavier you describe is right out of character for our sunny little lord isnt it ,you wonder what crosses through those dear little minds dont you ?I finished some ironing this morning too ,Poor Danny he cant know wether he is coming or going ,literally! Have a good week at work ,.,.,.,Jan xx
Poor Roman. I wonder what's making him so upset. Do you think he's scared? Aliens....yup.....that's it! Gotta be!
Glad you're finally getting some private time. Enjoy it.

I think Roman is just testing the "I want to be independent " waters. Some don't do it until they are a little older and some do it younger. Or maybe he's cutting some teeth...but it must be very frustrating for you. I feel so bad for your son. It would serve her right if he just moved out, either to your house or somewhere else...just to get away from her indecision. Have a nive evening...Linda in WA
It's been a lovely day here today as well ~ I think Roman is testing the water to see how far he can go with you ~ It's hard to believe your Sunny little bundle of fun has turned into a howling bundle of fury "Although You could be right about the aliens ~ lol" Glad you have a free day to enjoy doing your own things ~ Poor Danny I would think he is really fed up with his landlady changing her mind I hope he finds somewhere more settled ~ Ally
Oh I remember the Terrible Twos. My younger son had Terrible Three. I know it's developmental, but it doesn't make it any more easy to cope. You did just fine. Hugs!

Oh boy, I remember those days. Poor Roman, and poor you. Unfortunately, the only way to get past it is to let them cry themselves to sleep, of course after you've made sure he's OK just as you did. This is a hard age because they're growing and learning and wanting to explore more and more. Of course if the crying doesn't stop after a couple of nights then I would definitely consult an alien invasion specialist, LOL. I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your day.

Oh, poor Grandma and cranky Roman! My grandson goes through that every so often. It's either teeth or a growth spurt with him. He gets restless at night and gets mad when put to bed. He cries at the drop of a hat and you cannot please him for about a week - then all of a sudden our sweet Andrew is back in his body (LOL) and all is well. I just remind my DIL, "This, too shall pass, my dear." It's easy for me to say because I don't care for him on a regular basis. You're an angel!
Hugs, Kathy
i do hope Danny gets it all worked out with the awful landlady. Poor Roman....he is the sweetest little boy.....i hope he doesnt begin to act up in public. I remember the nightmares Meg and Chad put me thru!
