Hello everyone,
Welcome to a nice pleasant Wednesday. We had a storm this morning and some persistant rain and the temperature has fallen somewhat. It is still very warm but not as humid as yesterday. Now that the pressure has eased the sun is free to put in another appearance now!
In answer to Pamela`s question in her comment of yesterday. Yes, I do live close by to Windsor Castle, about 5 miles in total. It`s actually much bigger than it seems in the photo and it dominates the town of Windsor that surrounds it.
Today as it`s raining I have loads of washing that can`t be hung outside, typical that it would rain on MY wash day...lol! Not that I`m complaining, I`ll just have to use the dryer for some of it, though I`ve hung some of it on a airer and it`s drying really quickly so I may not have too. Marshal will be going home later today and though he`s a gorgeous dog and we love to have him, he`s an overgrown puppy and he needs his own family. Jake will miss him though despite his constant need to play, though he has settled down since his last visit.
Roman is coming over at 3.30pm as Kerry starts work earlier today, I don`t like her Summer work scedule as I don`t know from one day to another what time she is working, roll on the Winter roster so I know where I am...not really Winter can stay away for as long as possible...lol! Roman didn`t settle easily ;last night, in fact he was in a very bad mood and as soon as put him to bed he started crying, and crying...and crying. In fact he cried so much the dogs were both upset too! I did manage to settle him eventually but he was very restless and even when he was asleep he didn`t look peaceful. Perhaps today with it being cooler he might be more comfortable.
We are going to have a new Tesco store opening in the parade of shops just along the road. Of course it will most likely harm the trade of the small businesses but that won`t bother Tesco, far from it. They seem to be spreading their tentacles far and wide and wherever there is a store the surrounding shops in the area suffer. Our High Street has recently seen many closures since the new superstore was opened a year ago and I can see it ending up as a ghost town. I liked the old store which was big enough for healthy competition, this one sells everything and no one else can compete. Sainsbury and Asda are quite some way off and I don`t fancy that so I`ll continue to shop there out of convenience but I wish I didn`t have to....sigh.
Right, that`s it from me today, nothing else has really happened apart from me parting with a handsome slice of cash to pay for my car insurance. My MOT is due on the 18th and car tax at the end of the month...but I`m not even going to think about that at the moment! Maybe I`ll win the lottery before that! Anyway, I hope you`re all having a lovely day, take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Your Tesco store is like our Super Wal Mart.... smaller stores can't compete here either... Its a shame isn't it. Hope you enjoy the day and the sun starts shinning soon. Sandra
I'd love to see Windsor Castle. I have always loved the English Royalty. The only ones I've ever seen are Fergie and Andrew. I'd imagine you see them all, huh?
Glad it's a cooler day for you. Hope Roman feels better. Poor baby!
Have a great day.....Pamela
Its a bit fresher here today we didn't get handly any rain, hope Roman feels abit better.I have washing on the line hopefully it is drying.Glad Jim bought you the rose.Love the bumble bees or are they wasps?......Jeanx
Sandra I am glad you have a nice pleasant Wednesday ~ I think Jake will miss Marshal he is a beautiful dog ~ Hope Roman is feeling better now the weather has cooled down ~ can imagine Jake and Marshal crying with with him ~ Tesco seem to be taking over everywhere ~ it is such a shame when small businesses suffer ~ Hope your little car gets through the MOT ~ Ally
Yes we are to have a Tesco superstore here too,and it will most certainly affect the small shops in our little market town ,I should think its the heat ,unsettling Roman ,we find it difficult and they dont understand do they ?how sweet the dogs getting upset when he cried .........Jan xx
It's typical that Service, MOT, insurance and road tax all fall due at the same time!! Bleedin' expensive running a car but for some of us it's a necessity unfortunately. On the Tesco front, the only reason I like having a big Tesco (we have the biggest one in Scotland - think it's the same size as the huge one in Slough) is that a) I like that it's 24 hrs and ib) t's soooo much cheaper than everywhere else!! I know what you mean about the smaller businesses not being able to compete though which is a bit sad.

If we all continued to buy at the smaller stores, they might be able to survive. I would rather pay a little more and continue to have more stores to choose from. But already in some places in the US there are no smaller stores left to patronize. Soon we will have only one giant source for our daily needs, like it or not.
Living in the shadow of Windsor Castle is pretty awsome to us non-royalists. I would love to have that view out of my front window.
I just caught up with your July 4th and 5th entries. Great pictures! I hope Roman is doing better. The heat sure seems to effect little children. It's about 92 here, too but we're not having any rain and little humidity with our heat. It's just dry and smoggy. Boooo Kathy
Your Tesco stores sound a lot like our Super Walmarts here. I prefer the smaller stores also but not many are left and there is a good bit of savings to shop in them. All that walking in a big store is worrisome on my back so I have taken to riding in one of those shopping cart thingys most of the time. Hope Roman has a better night tonight. Hugs, Helen
We have it very hot here today and still is at 8.40pm most unusual for up here our evenings usually cool down very quickly not complaining but its hot work at the PC tonight. Love Joan
It's cooled slightly here but it's still hot indoors! Poor little Roman, he obviously doesn't like the heat too much, he's very fair skinned too isn't he? I hope his exzema has cleared now, maybe he gets itchy with the heat and it feels like exzema to him. Have a lovely day tomorrow. Jeannette xx
I hope Roman is doing better.....you are so nice to doggie sit! Its been raining in Ohio too.
We pay a car tax only when we buy the car and then when we have to renew tags once a year...about $59.
Love,lisa
It's cool here in the Pacific Northwest, too. Only about 65 today and overcast. Linda in WA
gorgeous and extremely hot here and has been since tues...Actually it's extremely hot so we seem to have swapped round weather as was thunderstorms at weekend here and miserable Caff xxxx
We are still waiting for the storms here and the rain, had nothing, it is getting beyond a joke and this afternoon the humidity was unbearable. Even now it is warm. Know what you mean about Tesco, the supermarkets are out of control this days. Eventually we will all have to shop at the same store because there will be nothing else. Sad day we ever allowed them in the country. Nothing like the good old fashioned traders who knew you and gave personal service. Hope Roman sleeps better tonight
