Hello everyone,
I hope you`ve all been having a great day. It`s been really nice and sunny here and if the weather forecast is to be believed it`s going to get much hotter too. This morning I went into town with Kerry as usual for a Friday. We went into M&S for our coffee while Roman spent most of the time trying to grab our coffee and everything else on the table. He settled down eventually with a cup of milk and a fig roll, very easily pleased is our Roman....sometimes.
Just after I got home there was a loud knock on the door, when I opened the door there was a large box on the doorstep which contained a rose that I had ordered on Tuesday afternoon. It is called Rosa Nahema and it is a deep pink climbing rose that is heavily scented. I must admit to paying a little more than I had intended for it but I think it will be worth it when the buds open soon, that`s another photo oppotunity for me!
This afternoon Kerry and I went for what should have been a nice peaceful walk, leaving Jake at home because of the hot sun. Roman had on his factor 50 sunscreen and was completely shaded by the parasol on the pushchair and his sun hat. We had walked about a mile when Kerry noticed that Roman`s sun hat was gone so we decided that it would still be there on the way home and continued with the walk. It was really nice walking through the countryside; we were chatting, the birds...and Roman were singing, it was almost perfect. Just at that moment Roman`s parasol collapsed, or should I say Roman collapsed it himself. We discovered that by slowly picking at it from the inside he had broken the struts that held the thing together. I know he`s strong but that`s ridiculous. I`m going to call him Bam Bam in future...lol! On the walk back a man who was doing his gardening called out to me and asked were we looking for a baby`s sun hat? He had found it just after we`d passed his house and he was looking out for us...what a nice man! We had only walked another 300 yds when Kerry realised that Roman had lost the hat again, it was left to Nanna Sandra to go and get it and this time he wouldn`t be losing it again as Kerry had confiscated it and he was still shaded by the broken parasol that I was holding over the pushchair. By the time I got home I was exhausted and I`d completely forgotten just how much trouble a little person can cause...lol!
This evening we had a phone call from Danny who in Egypt on holiday. They arrived there yesterday morning and they are having a great time. He told me that it is extremely hot there and he got sunburned despite being very careful. He says he resembles a lobster while his girlfriend S has turned much darker than her natural colour. He has lots of activities lined up and tomorrow they are going quad-biking, sounds like fun if you`re only twenty-something I suppose! On Sunday they are going to Cairo for the day as Danny wants to see the museums there and I`ve forgotten most of what he told me but I know they`re going to be very busy all week. I hope he`s taken his camera with him but knowing him I doubt it. I can only hope S has taken hers and then I can scrounge some photos from her to share with you. Danny did say the hotel staff are very polite and friendly and can`t do enough for you and is very impressed with everything so far. My one little worry is the troubles in the Middle East but I`m sure they`ll be ok.
Well, that`s it from me, I`ll say Goodbye now and I hope you all have a great weekend. :o))

Great graphics! I'm anxious to see a picture of your new rose in bloom. I love roses myself. And if I was going to stay in this place forever, I'd plant more. Meanwhile I have some minature roses in medium sized wooden planter tubs. Those little guys are something else, they have to be busy all the time picking at something. And I think most babies hate hats, so he was probably happy to have it fall off. I hope your son and his gf have a wonderful time in Egypt, but I think that area would be one place I'd want to stay away from, being content to look at pictures and books in the comfort of my home. Sandra,
Hi my dear friend........I so love reading your journal. Its also been rather sticky hot here in Atlanta, Georgia. What was the coffee you had ? I have never had a fig roll I'm sure Roman was happy. I would love to receive such a rose. I am a huge fan of roses though I have a rather black thumb. I would have enjoyed going for a walk through the countryside. I myself have never been to Egypt I wish Danny could have come to Atlanta, stuffed me in a suitcase and taken me with him and his girlfriend. I love sight seeing. Tell Hanny he should have taken me to Cairo I have never been there either. I'm also upset about the troubles in the Middle East every time I turn on the news its horrible to hear. I hate turning on the television because I know the news won't be good.
Sandra I hope you have a great weekend. Take care.
Bam Bam is a cute name for Mr. Roman. He sure is strong and resourceful!! Going to Egypt sounds soooooooooo exotic too. Cant wait to see any and all pics.
love,lisa jo
When you have have your Granddchild with you when they go home your feel absolutely exausted at least I do I think its because you watch them all the time. Always wanted to go to Egypt as am very interested in the Pharos. Maybe someday. Would love to try a quad bike but after the week I've had I had better not well not today anyway. Love Joan.
What a perfect name - Bam Bam. I do not know what it is with boys but Nathan will not keep his sun hat on either. He cannot bear anything on his head but he has never broken the parasol. You need 1000 eyes with little ones. Glad you got the hat back though. I always wanted to go to Egypt. Been fascinated in the history and the Pharoahs since I was a child but I will never get there of course. Hope Danny does remember to take pictures.

I can just see Roman pulling off his hat and pitching it as you push him along. My grandchildren used to pitch their shoes. We had to watch for them all the time. The Egypt trip sounds so nice. Even in the heat, it seems to be such an interesting place to visit. Enjoy your weekend! Love, Kathy
That is so cute...Bam Bam...Roman has a new little name now. The hat throwing was so cute too...hope you have a wonderful weekend...it is in the 90's here...hot and humid....hugs and love,
Joyce
Laughing about Roman's hat. I know funny now, not then when you were chasing it down.
I know Danny must be having a good time. If he emails pictures will you post them? I guess that is somewhere I will probably never visit.
Take care.
