Weekend photos

Hello everyone,

My goodness it`s hot again today, I`m not complaining about the day time temperatures but I wish it would cool down a bit at night so I could sleep properly.  I got up before 6am this morning because I knew I wouldn`t get back to sleep.  Maybe I`ll be so tired tonight I`ll fall straight to sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, I doubt it but I can live in hope!

Because of my early start I got stuck into the ironing earlier than usual so it gave me a chance to indulge in one of my favourite pastimes, `people watching` as I call it.  I always do the ironing  in my bedroom giving me a good view of visitors to the Sunday Car Boot sale just up the road.  It`s amazing what people buy from there, TV`s , fridges, table lamps, mirrors and just about anything you can think of, remember the woman with the double mattress a few weeks ago?  One time I saw an elderly man riding past on his bike.  On the bike were two dining chairs strapped to the handlebars and on the back was a small cane table.  Incredibly he had a rucksack on his back with what looked like a beach breakbreak and it`s supports sticking out of the back.  I have no idea how he managed to get on the bike, let alone ride it.  This morning I saw two police officers accompanying a man who was leading a rather dirty looking pony with a rope, the man looked none to pleased so I can only imagine the policemen weren`t just being sociable....lol!  I think I`ll have to have a stall at the Boot sale just to get rid of some of the stuff that`s in the loft `just in case we`ll need it sometime`, which of course we never will.  Far better to get rid of it and make a few pennies before we decide to move house, I dread to think what`s up there after 20years in this house.

The above graphic will give you a rough idea what I`m going to do to Jake tomorrow.  Goodness knows what was in the water in the park but it smells terrible.  It`s not so bad in the daytime when the doors are open, but after a night spent in the kitchen those two dogs have a lot to answer for...phewww!  Marshal goes home with his owners this evening......Whoopee!!!   No really, he`s a lovely dog but I`m sure Jake will be happy to lie down without being jumped on by an overgrown puppy.  He`s had to tell him off on more than one occasion but the stupid mutt just doesn`t give up.

Kerry texted me last night to say that the wedding went really well and that Roman was really good.  She`s going to ring me later to tell me all about it, so when I know more I`ll tell you all about it.  I thought you might be interested in seeing inside The Hermitage, one of the most famous and important buildings in St.Petersburg, it`s well worth a look.  I`ll be off now,  I hope you`re all having a lovely day. Take care and Bye Bye for now.:o)

PS:  As you know England won the football but they didn`t play well at all.  Come on boys, you can do better than that!

Loved the pics, the park is so nice, the flowers are beautiful, Jake is as handsome as always, & Marshall is quite a handsome lad himself! ;0)
The man on the bike made me giggle, I can just picture him...LOL
I had a huge sale in my yard before moving up here. I had a lifetime worth of stuff to get rid of...I didn't want to sell most of it, but HAD to. No room, only kept my most treasured memories...as I only have 2 rms here. Had a 3 bdrm home & storage bldg there. So you can imagine what all had to go. :(
Hope your day is nice & you have a good week dear.
Hugs, Sug

I love people watching too ,and it certainly helps your ironing along,Ishould certainly consider having a car boot sale ,since you arent too far away,or what about ringing up 'Cash in the Attic' to assess your twenty year old valuables up in the loft ,that stall I bought my books from yesterday was called 'treasure or Trash' rather apt I thought .........So pleased Kerry enjoyed the wedding and Roman was good ,,of course !............Jan xx

Love all of the photos. The purple poppy was very pretty and No, I don't have any idea what the name of it is. I would have liked to have seen the man and the bike and all those things strapped on to it. It's a shame you didn't get a picture of it. Sounds like a great place for you to iron LOL. Helen

Hi sandra,

Love your graphics today.. now that I  only have the little yorkie I can give him a bath in the kitchen sink..he is very good about it..when I had the cocker spaniel he stunk..his ears were the worst..I used wash himoutside with the hose or in the tub in the cooler weather.

I agree the lads for England need to do better but i am still glad they got a win..

take care,

Lyn

Hi Sandra,

I loved all the photos but that park looks hot and parched.  The popply is an Oriental poppy, you can get them in many different colours and the blooms are much bigger than the field poppies.  The seed must have been carried there and this is a cultivated variety.  They are truly beautiful, I have a couple on order.  Once in the garden they come up every year and also seed.
I agree about England, we stand no chance if they continue to play as they did in the second half.

Great pictures Sandra.  So if  Prince Phillip was celebrating his birthday, that meant the Queen was there at Windsor Castle too.  I understand when she's there a special flag is flown.   Jake will probably sleep for days with his little guest gone home.  I'm glad all is well for Kerry and family in Russia.  Have a good Sunday evening.   Linda in WA

I used to have poppies like that in my old garden, they were Icelandic poppies, very hardy and beautiful. I love your peonies too! Why was Jake carrying that tree around with him?! Lol! Marshalls a lovely dog but I expect Jake will be glad to have his house to himself now, they get irritable when it's hot and other dogs won't leave them alone! Glad Kerry's having a good time. Have a lovely week. Jeannette xx

Hi, enjoyed your journal.I wish we could take stuff to a car boot sale, and the last time I went to the attic it was full of all sorts and had an interesting time opening old boxes etc, but our house is so old and the roof leaks in parts, so now most things are damp.Didn't someone find a masterpiece painting in the attic once , worth millions? Quick...where is that ladder..lol
