A Chilly Start to June

Hello everyone,

It`s the first day of June and the sun has been shining all day with temperatures in the top seventies.......well no, it`s not actually, but I can dream!  It IS June 1st but it`s been really overcast and chilly all day.  Because Jim is still poorly I`ve put the heating on for the odd hour because the cold is getting to him at the moment.  He`s better than he was yesterday but he`s still not well, he wants to go back to work on Saturday but not if I have anything to do with it he won`t.  I don`t want him ill again because he didn`t give himself time to recover properly...men!

We took Jake to the vet this morning because he was in a lot of discomfort with his leg.  Last night when I let him out before I went to bed he stumbled on the step and yelped loudly in pain and fell down on the floor where he stayed until I could coax him back indoors.  Jim heard him cry out several times in the night so I couldn`t let him suffer. The vet said it seems that it`s a severe sprain but she can`t be sure it`s not a fracture.  She has given him Rimadyl tablets and I have to take him back in a week for a check up.  If he`s no better in a couple of days it`s straight back for an x-ray.  If there`s a break it will only need strapping up and lots of rest but hopefully it won`t come to that. I can take him outside on the green where he can sniff around the trees but no proper exercise for at least four days.  He doesn`t seem to mind as he`s spent most of the day lying next to Jim by the settee in the front room, two invalids together, Jim said...lol!

While Jim is poorly, Kerry is taking Roman home when she finishes work.  She wants to break the cycle of this virus that we keep passing around like the proverbial parcel.  I`ve never had so many bugs as I have this year and nor has Jim, who is always disgustingly healthy. Our doctor doesn`t know who Jim is because he never needs to go there but just lately he`s been a regular visitor.  Along with the abcess and the flu virus, his arthitis in his hand flared up really badly the other day and his hand was badly swollen, lucky after upping the dose of the tabs the swelling went down and the pain improved but he can`t believe what`s going on with his health at the moment.

I`ve just heard the weather forecastor say that tomorrow will be warmer and Saturday and Sunday will be even better..hmm, today was supposed to be nice and it wasn`t. We`ll see!  I`ve been covering up my summer flowers every night in case of frost.  It`s marvellous what bubble wrap can be used for, though I`ve had some funny looks from passers-by when they see me doing it.  It works a treat though, as do old net curtains.   I`ll say goodbye now and leave you with some jokes that Jean, (Nedmoh) sent me in this morning. :o)

Two hydrogen atoms walk into a bar. One says, "I've lost my electron". The other says, "Are you sure?" The first replies, "Yes, I'm positive..."

A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says "I'll serve you, but don't start anything."

Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted.

A sandwich walks into a bar. The bartender says, "Sorry we don't serve food in here."

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One says to the other: "Does this taste funny to you?"

"Doc, I can't stop singing 'The Green, Green Grass of Home.'" "That sounds like Tom Jones Syndrome."
"Is it common?"
"It's Not Unusual."

An invisible man marries an invisible woman. The kids were nothing to look at either.

Deja Moo: The feeling that you've heard this bull before.

A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet and says, "My dog's cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?" "Well," says the vet, "let's have a look at him." So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then checks his teeth. Finally, he says "I'm going to have to put him down." "What? Because he's cross-eyed?"
"No, because he's really heavy."

Poor Jim and Jake. I hope they both feel better soon. You need some of our hot weather over there. It has been in the 90's the last few days. They have been calling for rain for several days now but we have had only a small shower over the last weekend. The poor birds have their beaks open panting for some air. Helen

I hope your invalids get better soon. I don't visit the doctor for years then I get everything going! Once I didn't go to the docs for 17yrs! There seems to be bugs everywhere this year, you'd have thought the cold weather would have killed them off in the winter! Jeannette xxxx

I do hope Jim and Jake feel better soon.  Sure hope Jakes injury is just a severe sprain...keep us posted on how he is doing.  I know how frustrating it is to try to keep a baby healthy with so many bugs going around.  Here they are allergies getting everyone down...me it is still my poor legs...go figure.  Storms are now coming our way...I want to sit on the front porch and watch it all...hope there's no wind with it so I can.  Hope your Friday is a good one...hugs and love,
Joyce
PS...love your tags today...
