Hello everyone,
I never thought I`d get here after the busy couple of days I`ve had. Yesterday I spent some time with Jim trying to help where I could while he hung two more new doors. I know I was more of a hindrance than a help but the thought counts! He finished one in the morning, we went for lunch, bought the last three doors, got home and he hung the other one. The other two will have to wait until he has his next couple of days off. He`s done a great job and we now have three new doors so far. It makes our upstairs landing look so much lighter, even with the doors closed and if there`s one thing our hall badly needs it`s light, and on top of that there`s the wonderful smell of pine wafting through the house!
Kerry called me in the afternoon and told me that the doctor she took Roman to see, (not his usual doctor) didn`t think it necessary for him to see a specialist nurse, despite the health visitor`s recommendation. Kerry isn`t too happy about this to say the least as the doc said the Roman`s excema isn`t very bad and most babies grow out of it. She did say however, that if it ever flares up to come back and she`ll think again! Kerry told her that it flares up all the time but she didn`t want to know. Kerry told me that she`ll give it a month and then see Roman`s usual doctor and see what she says...sigh!
A friend of mine was in the local paper today. Chris is blind and she has two labrador guide dogs, one retired and the other one still working. Last week she rang for a cab and the cab company owner said his drivers won`t take dogs because of the hair. She told them that they have to take them because it`s been the law since 1995. That law clearly states that all public conveyences HAVE to accept assistance dogs. The man wouldn`t listen and just told her the name of a cab firm that would take her. She was really annoyed and contacted the press in a bid to help not only her but other people who need their dogs because they have a disability. She`s a very capable woman who told me that she didn`t want the publicity but the law is there for a reason. There are many less able people who would otherwise be housebound without the aid of these highly trained dogs. I was so pleased to see that the article had been printed and can`t wait to see her to find out what the reporter from the paper had to say.
I might be going to Danny`s again tomorrow with Kerry, Jim and I bought him some nice net curtains today and I can put them up for him. Kerry hasn`t seen his new place yet and wants to visit him. Hopefully he won`t be too busy tomorrow. We can never be sure until the day what he`ll be doing so we`re waiting for him to let us know . Anyway that`s it for now. I hope you all have a lovely weekend, take care and Bye Bye for now. :o)

Yep, that is true, your friend is within her rights to demand that the taxi company take her! Loads of drivers try to get out of it but the law is the law!!! Hope Romans eczema is not too bad.
Now do you think I could risk my still tempory tooth biting into one of these lovely rosy apples ,I bet Kerry is getting well fed up with all this conflicting advice,I'm sure you were some help with the doors just holding them whilst Jim got the first screws in ,anyway if you were in the way ,I'm sure he would have said lol ................Jan xx
Great Graphics again.Congrats on the new doors.Thats bad about the doctor.Have a great weekend.
Well done to your friend Chris for speaking out against the daft cabbie. I bet he is cringing now and serves him right. My daughter had bad excema as a baby. Poor soul would scratch her knees and elbows and face till it bled so I had to keep mittens on her. Nothing seemed to help and thankfullyshe grew out of it about 6/7. It does seem to be true that it will last for about 7 years...sorry... Eve
Love your graphics. Good going for you and Jim getting and hanging the new doors. if you just stand there and hold the doors in place while Jim works on them is a big help to him. That's a shame the Dr. won't send Roman on to the specialist. As much trouble as he has been having I don't see myself why it would hurt anything to go see one. Thats a bad deal your friend got from the cab Company. They should be reported. They just didn't want to have to vacumn the car out is all. Bet the curtains are pretty. Hope your weekend goes great. Helen
Sandra I'll bet you were a great help with those doors ~ they are very heavy to hold in place while the screws are put in ~ lol ~ Yes if I were Kerry I would take Roman back in a month ~ but it is one of those things that babies grow out of ~ thank goodness it doesn't bother him ~ Well done for your Blind friend and the Taxi cab ~ I hope they are well ashamed of themselves ~ Hope Danny will be at home so you can fit those new curtains for him ~ You have a lovely weekend :o) Ally
It's the beginning of the wkend! Wanted to stop in & wish you a grand one!
Hugs,
SUGAR
Glad you like the new Doors, when I moved in here 3yrs ago, we had to have new ones on most Rooms, and it did make a difference!
Wish I lived around the Corner from You~ I bought 81" nets for French Doors last weekend, and I've now decided I don't want them, I'm looking to give them to someone who could alter them and use them (lol)
Your friend did right to report the Driver....poor Woman
Aileen...X
I'm so glad your friend made an issue of the cabbie's failure to obey the law. I'm appalled at the number of businesses that refuse to tolerate even minor inconveniences to accomodate the disabled. There shouldn't even have to be a law--they should do it out of simple consideration.
Hi there,
Send Jim my fondest wishes for I know, to my cost, what it is like to try and sort the doors out, it is a very hard task.
How sorry I was to hear that your friend could not get a taxi, I think this is an awful thing to happen and I hope it is sorted out for her soon.
I am sorry I have not had time to read your journal before, I have been too busy because of the house move, but I have to say that your layout is wonderful. I love the moving picture of the male Mallard.
By for now,
John.
You are getting on well with all those doors and and am sure it will look super when finished. Love you graphics today the ducks are super did you make it yourself. Love Joan.
Hope the door hanging goes well. Well done of your friend for taking that to the newspapers, that firm deserves bad publicity.

I think it is wonderful you helped Jim with the doors. I know my husband always appreciates my help on household issues. Shows I care, he said. Not that I have any talents. I bet Jim feels the same way. Little Roman will be fine...but I am happy Kerry is on top of things and is a wonderful Mom. Roman is such a cutie. I know Dannys flat is going to be so nice when all is done. I hope Kerry has a very nice visit today...hugs and love for a beautiful weekend.
Say hi to Jake for me!!!
Joyce
Good on your friend making a stance :o) Does my head in how many people, companies, etc etc still think they can get away with treating disabled/special needs like 3rd class citizens...Your kerry sounds like she's having as much luck with doctors as my kerry :o( Caff xxxx
I LOVE the apples! Do you think John would come here and help me hang doors? I have eighteen to replace. Hehe. We battled excema when my youngest brother was little too...messy uncomfortable stuff. Enjoy your weekend too hon'! ;) C. http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies
Such a pretty entry. I am so happy Chris stood up to that jerk of a cab owner. I hope he gets in trouble. Take pics of your new doors sometime. That doctor who said dont worry about the skin condition sounds like he/she didnt know what he/she was talking about. I understand Kerry being upset.
Love,lisa
Hi there. I sure hope little Roman gets taken care of. I know you have been mentioning this skin irritation, for a while...or it seems like it anyway.

It's just amazing that in this day & age, some companies are still insensitive to the needs of those with disabilities. I think that cab company should have sensitivity training for all their employees. If a certain driver is allergic to dog hair that's one thing..they can send someone else. But to out & out refuse to pick this lady up is deplorable. Bravo for her...she brought it to the public's attention. Hopefully Roman's excema will go away with better weather. As I child I had it in the winter also but not the summer and outgrew it as an adult. Love those graphics...Linda
Hope the door hanging is going well.Lovely graphics and those sparkly apples.......Jeanx
how bad is that taxi firm - good on Chris to go to the paper!! Glad the doors are hung and up :-) Well done jim. Good lord what is it with that doctor - I'm not surprised Kerry was annoyed - poor thing!!
Ooh Sandra I LOVE those apples! Your graphics are fabulous.I hope the taxi driver gets a fine or something. You know it bugs me because a drunk can get a cab and be sick all over but somebody blind who needs a taxi can not always do so. . .thats so not right.
