Monday Musings

Hello everyone,

Welcome to what was a beautiful day.  It`s now clouded over and I`m hoping that it will at least stay dry until the remains of my washing is dry.  The weather forecasters said it is supposed to be warmer today but I wouldn`t go that far, the wind feels decidedly chilly now the sun has disapeared.  Out walking with Jake this morning I really could have done with taking the camera.  First of all I saw a large dog fox along a path just few yards away from us, goodness knows what he was doing out and about at 11am, Mrs Fox would have been wondering where he was!  Just after that I saw a Great Tit sitting on a low branch of a tree and he was singing his little heart out.  Each time he paused from his warbling another Tit returned the call.  On and on it went and Jake got fed up with waiting and flopped to the ground with a sigh.  That was the signal to move on but I really enjoyed listening to the birdsong , one of nature`s sweetest sonds.

I took the above photos this morning when I got home from our walk.  The daffodils are called `Tete a Tete` and are a miniature variety with the heads no more than an inch and a half across with stems about 7" tall.  I bought a couple of pots of them for 99p for the two in Tescos last week, a real bargain because I`ll put them outside in tubs for next year. The crocuses are from my garden, the mauve ones are in abundance this year but the golden ones are not for some reason.

Thanks for the comments you left on my entry for yesterday.  We would like to sell up soon rather than later but circumstances prevent us from doing so at the moment.  But we have had some insider information regarding the road where we live.  Also there is a new school being opened just a couple of hundred yards from our house.  The point is because the school is a faith school these particular houses are being snapped up by parents of  young children of that particular faith.  Alocal estate agent has told us that the house prices should go up by at least £20,000 in the next couple of years.  So it is definitely worth waiting for,  as we know for a fact that we could sell our house very easily even now.  In this town our area is much desired and most of the houses go for the asking price so we will wait and see.

Well that`s about it from me but I have some funny stuff for you.  Take care and have a nice afternoon.  Bye Bye for now.

Wonderful pictures Sandra.  We do not have one single crocus.  I planted many over the years but our ground if a quagmire in winter and baked like a scorched desert in summer, not ideal conditions for bulbs!  So, it has really brightened my day to see your wonderful flowers.  Yes, very unusual to see a dog fox during daylight but they are getting bolder and bolder.  Birds seem to be scarce around here at the moment.  Our Robin no longers comes and I have not seen any bluetits for ages.

Your flowers are beautiful. Yes, you need to swing that camera around your neck when taking Jake for his walk. The laugh list gave me some chuckles. Have a great afternoon. Helen

Lovely entry Sandra...I planted 'Tete a Tete' out from last years and they are coming up now outside. My crocus are quuite sparse though, a Squirrel visits and he has dug up a lot of my bulbs.
The Birds have been quite rare, but in the sunshine today, there was a Ring Neck Dove.Blackbird, Blue tit, and a couple of sparrows all feeding together, but they did have a little 'fall out'... The Blackbird is a regular visitor, love his 'Tune'
Oh! and thanks for the laughs..so funny!

Hi Sandra, I've got daffs blooming here at my place too.  I've always loved them, and I just realized why....when the daffodils bloom, spring is just around the corner ....YEAH !!!!!  We even have a Daffodil Festival here.  That's coming up in April.  Each high school chooses a Daffodil Princess and from the 12 or so Princesses, a Queen is chosen.  She rules over all the festivities, including the Magnificant Mutt Show, the Grand Floral Parade, the Daffodil Marine (boat ) Parade and various other activites.  Come On Spring !!     Linda in Washington state
