Hello everyone,
How are you all today? As for me well, if you look at the above graphic and the title of the entry you can see that I`ve sort of lost the plot! Last night after I`d done my entry I went downstairs to see how my dinner was cooking. I picked up the oven gloves and put them on, opened the oven and took out the dish with my chicken escallope. For some reason that still escapes me, I lifted out the dish in the one hand that didn`t have a glove on.....well! I quickly realised my error and put the dish back in the oven and flew, yes flew over to the sink and turned on the cold tap to cool my sizzling fingers...Oh they did hurt! Not one swear word passed my lips, but then I was in so much pain I couldn`t think let alone speak! Well, the upshot is that three of my fingers swelled up like sausages and for a while smelled like them too. All evening I had a bowl of cold water nearby, so that I could immerse my hand when the pain got too bad. I obviously did the right thing because the pain has subsided quite a bit today and the swelling has gone down too, though I have two enormous blisters to remind me to be careful when I use the oven this evening.
This morning I was up with the lark, well 6am, because I had to go shopping get home and rush off to the dentist. I have a small dental bridge and a piece broke of the back yesterday, leaving a rough edge. I was really worried that I would need a new one which would cost the best part of £350, well that was what it cost for this one 5 yrs ago, it`s probably more now. Anyway, all he needed to do was file the rough edge down and there would be no charge. At that moment though, the compressor went down and the engineer who was working on something else there, said it would take about 30 mins to fix. My dentist, a lovely Irishman, but very blunt in his manner, told him he had 15 mins to fix it as he had patients waiting, and would you believe it, 15 mins it was. He certainly knows how to get things done...lol!
I`ll finish up now as I can`t type very quickly at the moment with my sausage fingers...lol! So have a lovely day and take care. Bye Bye for now. :o)
Murder & Betrayal
Minster Yard, York Life was hard in 16th century Britain and the situation in York was no exception. Many young lads, down on their luck, found a life of crime to be an easy way out of the gutter. Pick-pockets and cut-throats were common place amongst the small alleys and snickelways of the city: even within the Minster Yard.
On a dark still night, two brothers, desperate to boost their meagre earnings, lurked with malicious intent in the shadows near their lodgings at St. William's College. Their victim was to be a wealthy priest from the nearby Minster. As the poor man came into view, the two sprang upon him, slit his throat and made off with his purse and the jewels about his person.
The younger brother had never really wanted to take part in such drastic action and, later that night, racked with guilt, he shut himself and his booty in a closet in the College. The elder, fearing his sibling would break down and confess their crimes, decided to report his brother to the authorities. The young brother was immediately arrested, tried and hanged for murder. He never knew of his brother's betrayal and kept his involvement quiet.
It was now the elder brother's turn to feel the guilt and he paste his rooms at the College both day and night. Over the next few years, he neglected his health totally and soon brought himself to an early grave. His disquiet spirit still paces the upstairs corridor and rooms of St. William's College even today.

Couldn't see the graphic....Ouch you poor thing {{{{{hugs}}}} ohhh the graphic just appeared LOL...Forgot to say on previous comment although the river is high the reservoirs are very empty hence the bans :o( Caff xxx
Ahhh you poor thing. So sorry you burned your fingers! Smart thinking with the cold water. That's the first thing I do, then quickly make ice water if the burn is too bad. When I was a kid we used to smear butter on a burn, which of course we all know it NOT what you want to do. Unless you're going to eat it. Oh mercy, I didn't say that did I?
Glad your dentist appointment went well! Where are you from??
Have a great one!
Barb
OHhh Sandra ,and havent we all done similar things,a damp tea towel is as bad ,watch those blisters dont burst and become infected ,I hope the dinner was as nice as it sounded ,after all your efforts ! Good girl restaining from sweary words ,a little cuss would have been in order .Good for your dentist ,a Paddy you see!Maurice always gets things done too ....later lol ,I think the young fellow in the story, was eaten up by guilt .............Jan xx
Ouchie.... hope your fingers are better soon...
We all loose the plot from time to time lol.Seriously i hope your hand is ok.You did the right thing in putting your hand under the cold tap.Your fingers should be ok but just keep an eye on em.If Trish did that I'd be putting a bandage around em to keep the dirt away and to cushion em.We've all done silly things.Your luck was obviuosly in when you went to the dentist.
Oh Sandra that was a painful thing to do ~ but you did the right thing running cold water on them ~ try not to burst those blisters ~ Your dentist sounds a lovely man ~ and knows the way to get things done lol ~ Glad you got your small bridge fixed ~ Ally
Ouch.. that sounds so painful...hope the appendages are now on the mend. Love Garfield and the cute cat. Eve
I will think of you when we have our supper....sausages!!!! Seriously, that is what we are having!! Oh Sandra, I know that sort of pain......been there, done that, but it was with the mince pies I made for christmas!!!Try some whisked egg white on them!!! If they don't do the trick, try some natural yoghurt.it has a cooling effect!!!
So sorry you burned your fingers Sandra. I hope they will soon get well. I dread it for you when those blisters burst. On the murder and betrayer it just goes to show crime and betrayal doesn't pay. Helen
So sorry to hear about your burnt fingers you were a Billy but we all do silly things at time but try not to do such painful ones as that. Great story really enjoyed reading it. Love Joan.

Ouch is right !! I've done the same thing in the past. Then years ago I had a pair of oven mitts that I loved but they had become thin in places due to laundering. I continued to use them until one day when I pulled a pan of cookies out of the oven and two of my fingers where under the "thin" spot....then I had an OUCH and a pan of hot cookies all over the kitchen floor. The next day I had new oven mitts. Take care of those fingers....Linda
Sorry to hear about your burnt fingers ouch indeed!! I think you need to get the two gloved oven mits :-) Glad the dentist went ok

I see you pulled something that I tend to do. I have a bad habit of grabbing things out of the oven without my mitt on!
Sorry to read about your accident. I do know that ice water does help to reduce the pain. Hope it has gotten much better by now. mark
So sorry to hear that you had burnt fingers, hope they're not too painful......Jeanx
