I`ll Try Again!!!

Hello everyone,

Here I go again, I had just finished a reasonable entry, right down to putting my signature at the bottom and for some stupid reason I closed the entry by clicking the red cross.....Waaaaa!  Why on earth did I do that....???

Anyway, enough of my stupidity for one day, I hope you`re all having a better day than me, oh well that`s not fair because I`ve had a pretty good day up till now. It`s been really cold again though with lots of half-hearted snow flurries which makes me think we might get a proper fall of the stuff soon.  Marshmallows falling from the sky, as Kerry tells Roman....now there`s a thought, imagine walking around knee deep in THAT!

Last night we had a visit from the Police who were asking if we`d seen or heard anything suspicious earlier in the evening.  Hmm...Not much to go on I thought.  It turned that the house at the back of us had been burgled at about 8pm.  Very strange because the house is empty having been vacated by some really dodgy looking tenants who trashed the place during their overlong stay. I can`t for the life of me imagine why anyone would have broken in there when there are so many respectable homes hereabouts............not that I condone burglary and don`t want to be a victim of it but I wonder how the owner stands when it comes to an insurance claim?  It was just a thought that passed through my simple brain......

Jim and I went to the garden centre cafe for lunch and found that the heating was broken.  Mind you we kept our coats on and throughly enjoyed our meal.  Afterwards went to Homebase and bought a couple of the pine doors that Jim is going to hang on the bedroom doors.  They are really nice and look really light and modern, a far cry from the old ones which are dark and have seen better days.  Kerry popped in on her way home for a quick cuppa and I played with Roman.  He has now decided that sitting up isn`t good enough for him and he likes to stand up on his stubby little legs and bounce up and down, I don`tknow where he gets his energy from.  Mind you he made me laugh last night when he went to sleep sitting up.  One minute he was playing happily, the next his head was slumped forward on his chest so I laid him on the sofa where he was more comfortable, bless his little heart!

Anyway, I`ve got another ghost story for you, this time it`s fictitious but it`s quite good so enjoy...............................

The Haunted House

It was late at night, and raining heavily, when Susie's car broke down on a narrow, country road. She put on her coat and had a look at the engine, but she couldn't really see what she was doing. "I'm going to have to go and find help," she thought.   Susie stumbled along the road until she came to a large, iron gateway. A sign beside it read, "Haunted House", but by now Susie was too soaked to worry. She ran up the drive and knocked on the door. A young man opened it. "Hello," he said, "I'm Paul. I think you'd better come inside, you may not have noticed but you're rather wet." Susie gratefully went inside, and Paul led her to an enormous fireplace, in which was burning an enormous fire. "Wait here," he smiled. While Paul was gone, Susie looked around. It was a very old house, and she began to think it did look rather haunted. Just then, she heard a strange clattering noise in another room. Was it a ghost? The air seemed to feel suddenly cold, and the fire went very dim. Susie decided it was a ghost, and stood up to run away.  At that moment, Paul got back, smiling. "Here," he said, "I've brought you some blankets and a bowl of nice, warm broth."  "I'm not staying herre," said Susie. "There's a ghost! I heard a clattering noise, the room went cold, and the fire has gone dim."   Paul grinned. "I dropped a spoon while I was making the broth, I opened a window for a moment to let out a small bird that had got in, and the fire needs some more coal." He chuckled. "Nothing to worryabout."   Susie felt rather foolish. "You must think I'm silly," she said, as she began to eat her broth, "believing in ghosts and haunted houses."  "I don't think you're silly at all," said Paul, "because there are such things as ghosts, and this house really is haunted. I do think you're silly to be frightened, though, especially with me here."  Next day, it had stopped raining, and Susie found that Paul had called a mechanic overnight who had fixed her car. "What a nice man," she thought, waving goodbye as she drove past his house. Paul smiled as he waved back, then turned and walked inside through the wall.

Paul wasn't afraid of ghosts because he was one.

It's so good to have the time to read journals again - and this entry was a bonus! You know how I love a ghostly tale. Mind you, it was a different story last Wednesday evening. Was watching "Haunted Homes" and it got to a really, really, scarey bit - the tv went phutt! and there was me sat in total darkness: You guessed it - we had an electricity cut!! I'v vowed not to watch any more haunted programmes, until , hopefully, I get Ron home from hospital. Not that he would be able to do much, but it's definitely more creepy being on your own. Hugs from your dappy friend.
