Hello everyone,
Welcome to Sunday and the start of a new week, or the end of the weekend, depending on how you look at it. Yesterday afternoon, Kerry, Roman and I went to visit Danny. His girlfriend Salina was there too nursing a really bad cold, which was a bit worrying considering that is the last thing Roman wants at the moment. He`s teething at the moment and isn`t as happy as he has been of late. Danny spoke to him and he burst into tears. Danny doesn`t see his nephew as often as he might and he doesn`t seem to find it easy talking to a baby. Roman is reaching that stage in his development where his personality is really showing, and he can be quite shy at times. Towards the end of the visit he did come round a little and gave Danny a big smile.
I took this photo yesterday and decided to mess around with the editing. I think it came out quite well.
I was pleased with these photos too even though I didn`t get too many smiles from my Little Man.
I put up the new net curtains at Danny`s and was pleased with the result. I had to guess the width and drop when I bought them as he didn`t have a tape measure. Luckily they fit perfectly and really help to make the room look nicer. His kitchen is so clean it looks brand new, he was telling that that it wasn`t just a bit dirty but that it was thick with grease and the cooker, which is meant to be white looked brown! After much scrubbing and bottles of cleaning products Dan and Salina have made it look smashing. Apparently he asked for it to be cleaned after he had viewed the flat and was curtly told that it HAD been cleaned, so he asked if they`d do it again....they did and it was still dreadful. He`s made out a new inventory for the landlady and also a list of new bits and pieces he`s had to pay for that should have been done before he moved in. ie. a new shower hose, the old one was leaking all over the floor and several other things. He`s started as he means to go on and I can see that the landlady will get fed-up with him complaining. Good for him, I say!
This afternoon when I was out with Jake I took this photo of the beginning of our walk. It`s where the country roads start and to the right of the picture is the hedgerow where I see most of the Great Tits especially on a Sunday. Why would that be I wonder, perhaps it`s their day off too.....lol! Even though I had the camera with me the photo opportunities were few. I wanted to take a photo of the horses from the Equestrian Centre further down the road to the left of the picture but by the time I got there the horses were at the far end of the field and I couldn`t get a decent shot of them. I was going to walk down to the local church and take a couple of pics there but the wind was really chilly along the lane there so I went another way home instead. I can take the photos when it`s warmer...lol!
Despite not posting an entry yesterday I did read all the journals that I got alerts for. I have found that I`ve not been getting alerts from some of my regulars so if I`ve not been to your journal lately, that`s why. It`s really annoying and I`ve been visiting people via my favourite journals list if I haven`t had an entry for a while. Well, I have a spooky tale for you in a mo, for the time being take care and Bye Bye for now.
The Orphans' Screams
Bedern, York Bedern, off Goodramgate, was the medieval home of the Minister's Vicars Choral. The choristers finally moved out in 1574 and, unfortunately, the area degenerated in region of slums and warehouses. By the mid-19th century, a sort of orphanage-cum-workhouse was established here known as the York Industrial Ragged School. Its master was paid handsomely to round up local waifs and strays and put them to work and he was keen to keep hold of his earnings. The avaricious man paid out little on food and clothing for his workforce and the children died in great numbers - of starvation and exposure.
Being too lazy to even dispose of the bodies, the schoolmaster would lock them up in a large cupboard until the stench would eventually force him to clear up. In the cold Yorkshire winters, he would be prevented from digging even the shallowest of graves and was forced to leave the corpses to rot.
As the months passed, however, the bodies piled up and the master began to become convinced that he could hear terrified screams emanating from the padlocked cupboard. They played on his guilty conscience so much that he eventually went completely mad and ran through the school massacring the remaining children with a huge knife. The authorities discovered him next morning, whimpering amongst heaps of mutilated bodies. He was dragged off to the local asylum where he spent the rest of his life.
The restless spirits of the dead children are still occasionally seen in the area. More usually, however, it is their playful laughter which is heard. The passer by may stop to listen to the eerie sound but, as they do, it changes dramatically into screams of terror!

What lovely pictures today ,especially the one you edited it looks a bit like a painting ,Roman is a lovely little boy,and anyway who wants to smile all the time ?Pleased Danny put his foot down about the flat ,no good being put on !Your story at the end was really grusome I'm pleased he was caught and imprisoned but what horrendous suffering to those poor children ,a bit like that awful Fred West ,life throws up some evil at times does'nt it ?............Jan xx
Danny and Salina must have worked very hard on his flat for it to be so spick and span ~ you taught him well Sandra ~ and well done on you getting the right fit for the net curtains ~Poor Roman Teething can be such a problem ~ I love what you have done to his picture and the other ones are lovely as well ~
Orphans' Screams : scary ~ but a good read ~ Ally
How green it is where you are! Here in upper Midwest US, the grass is still mostly brown--still "wintering over" although we've had almost no snow this year. I hope you will treat us to many more photos taken on your walks.
Roman is beginning to distinguish between people he know well and "stangers" like Danny--a healthy growth of awareness, I think. He is such a sweetie!
Your pictures are great today. You did a good job on the big one. I hope he doesn't come down with Salina's cold or the rest of you don't either. That is a sad story about the children.
There was a big news story in the state joining ours a few years ago about a mortician who was supposed to be cremating bodies who was just piling them on top of each other in a shed of some sort and the woods around the place was covered in bodies also. They did a big cleanup there and had a trial but I never heard the outcome about what was done to him.
I think they said he was burning wood and sending the ashes to people in place of their loved ones ashes. A bad thing to happen.
Have a good night. Helen
What cute pictures of Roman...he is such a little sweetie!! Hope none of you come down with the cold!!

Lovely photos of Roman especially the first one.where he is looking particularly angelic. Hope he doesn't catch cold after the visit. Well done to Danny standing up to the landlady. I don't think I would have dared!
What is a Great Tit?
Roman is absolutely adorable.
I am glad you had time with him, Kerry and Danny. Men sometimes arent all that good at holding and playing with babies.
Your pics only half turned out on my end so i cant see the place you walk each day. LOVE,lisa jo
The alerts are few and far between! but did get this one, I just usually check the 'Regulars'...

Love Little Man's pics hon', but they're overlapped... Wow...you have the best information at the end of your entries. I would be so sad to hear all those little noices... ;) C. http://journals.aol.com/gdireneoe/thedailies
I can see two photos of you with Roman, and one of Roman by himself. The others are cut off as I've noticed some other commenters are viewing. The photos with you and Roman are excellent. The one where you are taking Jake to walk is cut off below the top. I am guessing but it might be that your FTP space is overfilled with old photos from past entries. I have noticed this with many journals happening. I am going to clear out some of my older ones to make space for the new. The ghost story was as scary as they get considering that it is based on truth? Hope your weekend went great and that it makes your week pleasurable. mark
Cute pics....and I think alerts must not be working properly.

Fab pics - that's a shame about Danny's new flat!! What kind of landlady would leave it in such a state?? Hope he manages to get his money back eventually!!
