HAIR TINT AND TENNIS BALLS!

Hello everyone,

MORE photos I`m afraid of me and Kerry with Roman.  I really need to find more subject matter ,  but then I just can`t resist the little darling!

It`s been a lovely day here, sunny and warm, and Kerry and I sat in the garden this afternoon, all thoughts of job-hunting completely out of my mind.  Hmmm....I must get motivated and get out there and earn a crust.  This morning I was at the hairdressers getting my roots done and I was out in just under an hour because they weren`t very busy today.  Much as I like the girls there it`s nice to get out early and away from the smell of hair tint and perm lotion.

We are getting a new camera.   Jim ordered it last night and it will be delived soon.  He doesn`t want to take anymore pictures with the one I`m using now as he says (his words not mine) it`s rubbish!  Oh well, who am I to argue as I`ll use it more than he will and he can have this one back for his fishing photos.  For some reason the fishing camera doesn`t take pictures of people very well, just inanimate objects, which I suppose, fish are when out of the water.

We are having problems with our neighbours children and tennis balls.  It all started earlier in the summer when they started playing cricket in the back garden.  That in itself was not a problem, what was, however, was when the balls started flying over into our garden.  Nobody minds the odd ball in the garden but not at the rate we`ve been getting them.  We have been getting around 12 a day on average and both Jim and I have asked the kids nicely if could try and not keep knocking them over as Jake sits and waits for them to come over and then chews them to bits. A couple of times I`ve had to get bits of ball out of his throat.  Not very nice but even worse for him. I`ve also been concerned that a ball could hit Roman while we are sitting in the garden.  The last straw was when we returned from Canada.  We had over 30 balls in the garden, including a heavy cricket ball and a basket ball.  We had to search through the shrubs to make sure we had found them all.  This time we didn`t get them back and we are waiting for them to ask and then Jim will speak to their mother.  He is going to give them all back with the warning that it will be the last they see of any that come over in future.   Do you think we are being mean?  As a child I remember having neighbours that wouldn`t give our ball back, but then it wasn`t something that happened often. This to me is different, the `children` are 13 and 12, not little ones.  We have had enough now and surely they must be getting fed-up with buying new balls all the time!

That`s my moan over and done with...lol and now for some funnies.  I`ll leave you all now, so have a great day and take good care.

Can You Believe it...?

November 1999, Florida

A Port St. John resident was never what neighbours would describe as friendly, ro they greeted news of his recent self-inflicted wound with amusement.  The man had been standing in his front yard aiming his gun at his neighbour`s dog with malevolent intent.  But his marksmanship proved lacking that day.  We he pulled the trigger, he hit his own foot instead of the dog and wound up suffering in hospital for his transgressions against man`s best friend.

What does the mother buffalo say when her boy leaves home?

`Bi-son.`

Two atoms are walking down the street.

The first one says, "Oh no, I just lost an electron."

The second one says, "Are you sure?"

And the first one replies, "I`m positive!"

What do you do if you see a blue frog?

`Stop and cheer him up.`

I know all about the ones that come over the fence....at our last house the boys next door (similar ages to your neighbours) were forever sending balls of all shapes and sizes over...I got so fed up that it got to the point where we also refused to give them back, at one point it honestly felt like it was done deliberate just for the crack; the final straw was one day when I was in the garden minding my own business reading and trying to ignore the noise they were making when a football came over the fence and hit me very hard on the head...if that had been Mum she would have been knocked out....after that I went round, told the family what I thought of them and how serious it could have been....no more came over after that!!!

Great pictures Sandra. Go ahead and post all you want to of Roman. We all like to see him. Yes the tennis balls are getting out of hand. Wonder why some people are so inconsiderate. You would think they would get tired of buying balls. Helen

No, I don't blame you for getting stroppy about the balls, as you said they could hit Roman or Jake could swallow parts of them. I'd tell them in no uncertain terms to stop or be more careful when playing. People have no consideration nowadays. Jeannette.

Been there, with regards to neighbours tennis/footballs and its a no win situation. if you take them away, they buy more. Sorry to give you the bad news. Love your pics though.

You post as many pictures of Roman as you want, I will never tire of them and they grow so quickly.  I do my own roots thank God so do not have to visit the hairdresser.  As for the balls flying into your garden, no you are not being mean, we had the same thing with our neighbours.  In the end we told them anything that came over would not be returned. They got fed up with buying new ones and we had nothing since.  Now, a good thing to do would be to ask them nicely to stop, if you get any hassle ask them if they are going to pay the Vet's bill if Jake swallows some and it gets trapped in his stomach.  Also you are quite right, they are a danger to people, not only to Roman but any of you could get hit.  So have a word.

Your hair looks lovely in that pic :-)  Great photos as usual and I love seeing them as I'm sure you love taking them..............I don't think your being mean with the balls but at the end of the day if you've asked them not to do it there's nothing else you can do!!

Beautiful photos...Romans eye look so bright and alert...
On the tennis balls, you are sooooooo right about the safey of the for Jake.  I remember the days when my parents would hold the tennis ball, basketballs, you name it...your right in those days we kept them.  The age group you are referring to know better...wonder where the parents are and if they care?
Cool, you all are getting a new camera...that is going to be fun fun fun!!
You have a great evening and a wonderful Wednesday!
Hugs,

Joyce

The way I look at it..when they come over your fence they become your property. I'd keep them and then when I got a lot of them, I'd take them to an area where there are under privilleged children..they'd probably be thrilled to get them as gifts.  That is very rude of them to continue to do that.  It sounds like those kids need a visit from "Super Nanny"...she would put them in the naughty corner!

You will have to post lots more pictures of Roman as we want to keep up with his progress....Remember we were with you when he came into this world.
As for the balls coming into your garden I certainly would not give them back - have you spoken to the parents - maybe they dont know ?
I know when I lived near neighbours - was sitting near the back door and something whizzed past my nose . turning left to see what it was - stuck in the wooden fence A Dart Bolt fired from a gun...Now if that had hit me - well I dont even want to think about that one..Ally

You are quite right to get angry about the balls coming in to your garden, any one of you could get hurt, tell them.

What has happened to your hit counter? Have you taken it off because I cannot see it.  Oh dear, and you had gone way over 10,000.

I love your subject matter, mustn't change it ;o)
How annoying about the tennis balls.  Not just annoying, but dangerous for Jake, and as you said, if one should hit Roman while you're sat out there...
I think you have been very reasonable, and wouldn't blame you at all for not giving them back any more.

No, you are not being mean. Especially when it is a danger to children and pets. But do yourself a favor. If it continues, take photos of every ball and whatever else in your yard and record the date. Just in case the parents see no harm being done. Keeping a record of these kinds of things is necessary in the states. Well...it helps the case a lot should it go that far. Especially if someone gets hurt.

My alerts no longer work....but its no excuse....sorry i havent commented! I think of you every single day. Roman is a handsome lad, huh?!! I think he looks a bit like his daddy. I dont blame you or Jim for keeping the balls. i would have already went to the mother....as soon as Buddy or Maddie had bits of ball in their throat but i am one to deal with the confrontation NOW. You are much kinder! Love you, lisa jo
