Hello everyone..... problems with Jake this morning. When I got up he wasn`t as bright as he normally is. Whereas he would normally be bouncing around he just stood there looking sorry for himself, worried, I had a good look and saw that he had been bleeding and was very swollen. When the vet surgery opened I gave them a call and they said to take him round to see them. We did, and he`s been given tablets to reduce the swelling and make him more comfortable. When the vet explained why we all had a good laugh. His actual words were: " Erm, how can I put it delicately......he was rather well endowed and because of that he has very large blood vessels. That has caused a little bleeding and extra fluid to build up." Now we know why Jake was being picked on in the park.......The other dogs were jealous! The tablets he was given, Rimadyl, were prescribed monthly for Hannah, thats 30 tabs for £32. Jake`s tablets, just 8 of them , came to £29. Is it me or does it seem as though I`ve been overcharged?! I`ll have to ask when I take him back to have his stitches removed.
This afternoon after having lunch at Azarro`s at the garden centre, Jim bought a couple of plants, I forget the name, to go in pots outside the front door. I think the front of the house will look quite pretty once the flowers all open up. I take some photos then. At the moment all I seem to do is cover them with bubblewrap at night to protect them from ground frost and cold winds. It is amazing stuff though and seems to act like a `greenhouse`over night, as the plants are doing so well. Let`s just hope that the weather gets better and we can actually enjoy them.
Jim`s fishing went really well. He spent a lot of the time helping his mate Steve, who is still a beginner, with how to do this and that. Steve actually caught a 10lb carp and had to ask Jim to help him land it, not bad for his second ever fishing trip. Jim himself just caught a couple , in between , but his mate Mick caught loads of them. So all in all, it was a productive and enjoyable day for them all.
If you would like to read a different kind of journal, I have just the thing. Go along and have a read and tell me what you think. It is really funny and it`s called HUMOROUS VERSE Do give it a try, as I highly recommend it. I have it on my alerts now and I sent Jim the site and he had a chuckle too.
Well that`s it for now. Enjoy the rest of your day and take care. :-)

No more risk of frost after tonight Sandra. The frosts have blackened all our lovely rows of potatoes on the allotments. Hubby assures me they will come back okay, wish I had his confidence. Take care.

Poor baby....my doggie had to wear one of those collars. She didn't like it a little bit. She ran into and knocked over everything. Bless their hearts...these four legged creatures we love soooooo much. Hope he is doing better soon.

I sure hope Jake will be okay. I know I worry about my guys a lot...soon my only female Schauzer will be on heart meds. Looking forward to seeing the photos of the front of the house when flowers are in bloom. Take care! Joyce

Using the bubblewrap is a brilliant idea. And you certainly need it in this weather - ground frost almost every night, ridiculous! Hope Jake recovers quickly - obviously a very fine young dog, lol!
