MAN AT WORK

Hello Everyone,   I`m cross with myself....... I forgot to take my camera with me to the park.  There were so many photo opportunities to be had too....so yes, I`m very cross with myself!   We met up with our friends M and M and Marshall the GSD at the park, and the two dogs ran straight over, obviously overjoyed to see each other...that`s when I realised I had left the thing at home !

I decided to take this photo of Jim building the brick wall for the edge of the patio area he is building.  I didn`t ask him if he minded but I`ll let him read the entry later when he isn`t covered in dust and mortar.  He has wanted to do this for a long time even though he hasn`t done any bricklaying before.  But he has done his `homework` and is taking things very carefully as usual....he has to get things just right, and I`m really proud of him for doing it.

The chinese meal was lovely.  Mr. Lai`s was not as busy as usual and the air-conditioning was very welcome too.  They have stopped the music and entertainment though because they say it costs too much to pay the DJ.  But never mind, the food was great, we had prawn toast, spring rolls , crispy duck pancakes, egg-fried rice, spicy beef with vegetables, lemon chicken  ( VERY yummy!), sweet and sour pork with vegetables and prawn crackers.  The whole meal was a set price each, £10 or approx $15.  We all had a nice evening with great chat with lots of laughs.  We`ll do it again, somewhere else in about a months time.  It`s so nice to be able to leave the men behind and us women going out together.

The weather yesterday was somewhere in the 80`s. It`s cooler today thankfully but very windy again.  I do hope the sunshine will last at least until tomorrow just so Jim can finish the wall.  His mate, S, has come round to give him a hand , which is really nice of him.  Two pairs of hands should make life easier! Kerry came over to peg some washing on the line, she then decided to come walking with us and then on for luch at the garden centre cafe.  While there we met a couple of friends that we haven`t seen for at least four years.  It was so lovely to see them and to hear how their family are.  They were sad to learn that we`d lost Hannah, (our old lab) but very pleased to hear about Jake, and they want to meet him. They haven`t seen Kerry since she was about  22 and had just got her first singing job on the cruise ship, and they couldn`t belive she was now married with a baby on the way.  How time flies by, where does it go?   We have agreed to look after Marshal when M and M go on holiday in the future. It will be a mutual arrangement as they will have Jake sometimes too.  We always looked after their old lab Barney, who was a really big lab, but a great softy too. Our house was like his second home, and he fitted in well with Hannah and Rosie ( our Basset hound) As Jake and Marshall are such great friends it makes total sense.

I think that`s it for today. Enjoy a restful weekend,  Bye Bye and take care. :-)

Jim looks like he is doing a great job...make sure you take a photo again when he is done!  Glad your Chinese dinner went well.  We had Chinese too last night.  Ours consisted of General Shols Shrimp and Crispy Eggplant!  We also love their lemon chicken where we go to eat.  Well, you have a wonderful weekend and sure miss those photos of Jake. Will look forward to more in the future!  Joyce

Go Jim, go!  Looks to be a wonderful project underway, and please don't forget to include a photo when the project is complete.  And I completely understand about the forgetting to take your camera with you.  DOH!
We all need a girls time out every now and then.  I don't do it enough I think and I need to change that.  The weather is extremely warm here, yesterday it was 93 degrees when I left work at 3 to get my car worked on.  The heat here is dry, not humid like the UK is.  Humidity is unbearable sometimes, but the dry heat is so terrible for the skin.

Ok, Sandra, here i am with my question...what is a prawn?
Jim looks like he will do a fine job at what hes doing. I dont have the patience to learn things like that and thats bad. I have always wanted to learn to knit and crochet. Glad you got to see old friends and had a good time at dinner! Love, lisa

Looks as if Jim is doing a good job but looks as if he could use some knee pads.
Makes a person feel ill when they forget to bring a camera. I love your graphics today. Helen

Well done Jim!!!! He looks like he is making a very good and very neat job of it as well.  Too bad about the camera.  Glad you had a lovely meal and that you met up with some old friends.  Hope the weather holds so that Jim can continue working especially now he has help.  Have a great evening xxxxx

Great photo Sandra. Good news for Jim, the weather appears to be "set fair" for the next couple of days, albeit cool. Happy holiday weekend.

Jim looks exactly like a one of my dearest friends, also named Jim.  Of course I can only see the head and broad shoulders, but I swear he could be a double.  It looks as if he is doing a beautiful job.  The mean sounds terrific.  I love Chinese food.  Pennie

Nice photo :-)  Hope we'll get to see the end product when Jim's finished.  Sounds like the chinese was fun.  Hope Marshall will enjoy his stay but I'm sure with Jake around he will!!

Great job Jim.  I think it is awesome when the men try their hand at something new, especially around the house.  Hubby likes to cook but does not often get into many projects other than the "have to" ones!  I guess I'll take the "cook" in him though.
Sounds like the chinese dinner was awesome.  Making me hungry for din din now.

The Cafe Center, must not be too far from you as you go there a lot, eh?
Have a good weekend.

Jim's making a really fine job of it, by the look of things. And that patio area will feel so much better when you sit out on it, knowing that he did it all himself. Let's hope it keeps dry for a day or two!
