Deciduous Azalea "Golden Embers"
Weigela
Hello everyone.... I hope you are all having a lovely day. What started out here as another awful day weather wise, has turned into a sunny, warm but very windy one. Perfect for drying all my washing outside. I had to take a couple of photos of my flowers. The azalea has now flowered (see above) and has the prettiest flowers. It really lives up to it`s name! The other is a photo of the weigela that I have edited with Kodak Easyshare. Jim is much better today after being quite unwell yesterday. His `cold` seemed more like `flu yesterday as he was feverish and achy all day, and even called work and told them he just wasn`t fit. He does however, have a really bad cold, but as he says he can live with that, now that the aches and fever have gone, and he intends to go back to work tomorrow. He is grateful to everyone who hopes he will be better soon..:-)
I have started reading a new book. It`s called `The Last Family in England` by Matt Haig. It came recommended to me and it is most unusual. It is a story of a family who are going through the motions of being happy and it is all told through the eyes of the family`s black labrador Prince. Without giving away the story, I will say that it a story of betrayal, humour, deep sadness without being sentimental. I find it compelling reading and it is hard to separate Prince from Jake. This morning when I got up I went straight to Jake and gave him a big cuddle, while thinking all the time of a passage I read last night. I just know this story will not have a happy ending....sob! I do say though, if you like reading, and if you know anything about Shakespeare eg. Henry IV part 1, then give this book a try. Falstaff and Hotspur are both there.
I`ve just had to mess around to get the photo of the book. Thank goodness for digital cameras though. What did I do without them ?
The sunny day I was talking about just a while ago is now looking decidedly black...my fault for being so smug over a little show of sun! Kerry is due home tomorrow evening, and so far everything has gone well for her. It won`t be easy for her however, leaving Slava behind for a month. I hope she will be ok on the flight home, as she won`t be able to get into business class this time. She will be happy as long as she gets an aisle seat and can stand up from time to time. Yesterday afternoon, my friend B called me and we now have plans to go for a chinese meal on friday night. I`ll ask Kerry if she wants to come, as there will be a friend of B`s that I don`t know ,and I`m sure we`ll have a good night. I haven`t been out for a while and I`m looking forward to it.
Thats about it for today, but enjoy your day and take care of yourselves.......and now some trivia.......:-)
~ A citizen of the UK is most likely to be shot in November. Why this is so is unclear. You are most likely to drown, for obvious reasons, in July, though no-one knows why fatal-fall deaths peak in December. perhaps it is as a result of putting up the Christmas decorations? ~

Beautiful flowers Sandra, stunning. That books sounds like a good read, I shall have to try and get hold of it. Glad Jim is feeling better xxxxx
First of all, beautiful flowers.....
Glad Jim is able to go back to work. I still feel bad for him though. It's hard to work not feeling well. Sniff sniff cough cough. <I'm better today! yippee!>
Now for this book....that is a very interesting book. I would like it if it had a funny twist and no sadness. I need to read upbeat ones so it won't make me sad!
Glad you are having a pretty day afterall.
It is 71 degrees here at 11:13 and I may go and stand outside for a minute and get a fresh breath of air and some pollen to refill my bronchials. LOL!
Have fun eating Chinese. I guess people eat "Chinese" all over the world? I use chopsticks do you? LOL!
Lovely pics Sandra :o)
So glad that Jim is feeling a little better today, colds can really make you feel rotten can't they.
Will keep an eye out for that book, though I have a big long list of books to read, it always makes me happy to add another! Great that this one has a black labrador, awww. I know you'll be relieved to have Kerry back tomorrow (((((hugs))))) to you my dear.
I didn't know that about cress, I won't be growing that again with J!! He's a little bigger than a mouse of course, but you can't be too careful can you!

Perhaps the book can be Jake's bedtime story-Just change the ending!
Your flowers sure are purty! I love azalaes more than figs! (You seem to know something about Shakespeare so find that paraphrase!...)
We can't have flowers in the gardenas The Terrors (esp. Matisse) always rip them up. Any Advice!

Oh your azalea and the weigela look so pretty...mine are still in bloom but not for long here...season for them is soon to be over.
So happy Jim is better. The book sounds wonderful and the photo came out great too...I wonder how it will end, you will have to fill us all in. Hope it doesn't storm again too bad, still rain here in Northern Virginia! Take care! Joyce
Glad to hear Jim feels better. It took 5 minutes for your pics in this entry to show up as i read. Strange. That book sounds exciting to read....i often wonder what the dogs are thinking? I love it when you sit and talk to them and they tilt their head as if to say "hey you crazy human, what are you saying?". lol. Have a happy Tues! Love, lisa

Lovely photos! That book certainly sounds different - and yes, better be careful how you treat Jake now, lol! Hope Kerry copes with her flight home all right, and I'm sure she will. It'll be nice having her back again anyway. Have fun with the Chinese meal - making me hungry just thinking about it!
David.
