DOGS, SONS and TV!

Hello everyone, I just had to post this photo.  I`ve seen a few journals where people have been playing about with their photos just for fun so I thought I`d do the same. I think I`ll try out some other stuff later.  Today we took Jake for his yearly vaccination booster.  He had a complete medical check and the vet said he is in great shape.  He now weighs in at 32 and a half kilos, which is just over 65lbs.  When we got him  3 months ago he was just 26kilos and much too skinny.  he is all muscle now and his coat is healthy and shiny.  One of our concerns with him was that he hardly eats enough to keep a bird alive, let alone a labrador, but the vet thinks he is just the sort of dog who eats what he needs, and no more, as he is so healthy looking and has gained weight, not lost it.  As he said to us, most labrador owners would love to have a dog who wasn`t greedy all the time! Another concern is that he has never been taught how to walk nicely on the lead.  He really does pull and it`s a good job we are both strong and healthy or we wouldn`t be able to handle him.  We have been given the telephone number of a good trainer and behaviourist , so I will give them a call and he what they can do for us. Oh yes, and a recommendation for Jake to have THAT operation as it will make him a little less likely to chase after the ladies !   When we left the vet, what with the injections, worming tablets and flea, lice and tick treatments our pockets were considerably lighter.  I thought to myself how lucky our pets are, private health treatments, no waiting lists for operations and living in the lap of luxury in centrally heated kennels that we call our houses.  When I leave this world I want to come back as a much loved labrador.  A shorter life perhaps, but ah..... the quality!

I forgot to say yesterday, my son-in-law Slava made his TV debut last night.  He was a bumble bee in the channel 4, 3 part program " Dr Tatiana`s Sex Advice for all Creation".  I know it sounds like it, but it`s not porn!  He was not just a bee, but a sunflower and a couple of other things.  It`s on again tonight at 11pm and again tomorrow.  It`s  a Canadian production about various animal and insect sexual habits...some of which are rather bizarre to say the least, and certainly not something that I would talk about in my journal!  Slava told me that while they were filming he just had to dance about but last night seeing it after the editing he was really surprised and Kerry thought it was hilarious!  Seeing Slava fly after a female bumble bee was just so funny.

Today is Danny`s first day at his new job.  Last night, I called him to wish him luck and he said he doubted he would sleep at all as he was a bit nervous.  I`ll give him a ring later and find out how it went.  Our new front door arrives tomorrow, and the panel for it next Monday.  With luck it will be fitted next Tuesday.  I`m really getting fed up with answering the side door when someone knocks on the front, and poor Jake doesn`t know which door to bark at!

I`ll finish with my usual trivia.  Hope you`ve all had a good day.  Bye for now and take care :-)

That's an incredible photo - how clever of you. You've obviously done very well with Jake. He sounds in wonderful condition - and what a rare thing to have a dog that isn't greedy all the time! Good luck with the new door!

Very cool effect on the photo Sandra!  Interesting...very interesting!

It's amazing what a little TLC can do for an animal (humans, too).   Jake is lucky to have you and Jim, and I'm sure he knows that.  Labs seem to have this sense about them, you know.  Although, I've never heard of one who eats like a bird.  Rum and Allie are two chow hounds, literally.  They can't eat enough it seems.   So, yes, your vet is 100% correct.  You are very lucky Jake's not a greedy one.   But Jake is exactly like Rumbeau on the lead.  Rum pulls and pulls until he chokes himself.  It scares me sometimes!

Does Jake have a sensitive tummy?  Rumbeau does.  He can only eat Lamb and Rice dog food.  Any other kind, and it burns his tummy :(.

Well, it's late and time for me to retire for the night.

Trust me to miss that t.v. programme. Next time Slave is in something, please let me know.  Great photo, what programme did you use?  I ought to try and mess around with some photos.  It is good about Jake, so many Labs are very overweight.  xxxxxx

Interesting entry. Your picture look like some kind of plant but it's very pretty. This is my first visit to you journal. So sorry about the loss of your Mother. My God bring peace to you during this time.
You know dogs are very lucky to belong to people that love them.Helen
