THE DAYS DOINGS

Hello everyone and welcome to my journal on a beautiful , sunny Monday.  Today has been truly Summery, and being a Bank Holiday, Jim and I have been out and about with friends, and half of the population of the country, judging by the car park at Black Park.  It took ages to find a space, whereas we normally stop in a layby off the main road, we knew it wasn`t worth trying that today and the car park was full of day trippers.  We peservered and eventually found a spot and set out on our walk in the sun.  We spent most of the time by the lake and let Jake swim back and froth for a stick.  Then the funniest thing happened.  It`s moments like this that I wished I`d had the camera with me.  Some young men were there messing around by the water, climbing into a tree and throwing themselves into the water.  They had had a few drinks but they weren`t bothering anyone.  One of the men kicked a foot ball into the water and it drifted out into the lake, Jake spotted it and made a beeline for it.  When they saw him head towards it one of them jumped in and started swimming after it too.  That`s when everyone started to cheer, some for Jake and some for the guy.  Of course Jake reached it first and started making for the bank with it on the end of his nose.  The young guy got there just after and everyone cheered for the Jake who had won the race. I suppose it helps having four legs rather than two!

We spent the rest of the afternoon in our friends garden.  They have a really nice patio and we sat round their table and soaked up the sun.  I have to say though that I`m glad they had the parasol over the table or I for one would be quite sunburned.  Nothing else to report today so I`ll leave you now.  Enjoy the rest of today and take care.  :-)

Sounds like you had a lovely day. It was very hot and humid wasn't it?  I really enjoyed the story of Jake and "the race", would have liked to have seen that!  He is already storing up wonderful memories for you.  We were at home as usual and I spent quite a lot of time repotting houseplants and cleaning the kitchen.  I guess I should have sat out for a while and got some sun as they say the weather is changing for the rest of the week xxxxx

Glad you had a nice day Sandra.
It rained here most of the day.
And of course it is only a local holiday here which happens to coincide with your holiday weekend. We don't have thse  national holidays in Scotland

Your weather sounds better than ours was today near Buckingham. Spits of rain, an occasional downpour, cool and windy most of the time. Glad you had a nice day.  I had a really restful, do as I wanted to do, afternoon. It was lovely.
Take care.

I like the story about Jake winning the race in the water....that would have been so cute to see. In Ohio it doesnt know if its fall or spring here. Sunny but the winds are ice cold. Nights are freezing. No wonder i am sick. I havent been able to properly walk my beagles at all and they know something is up. Makes me feel so bad. Take care, friend! Love, lisa

Yaaay Jake!!
Sounds like you all enjoyed the day, like the sitting out on the patio in the sun bit, can imagine doing a bit of that myself when it brightens up again :o)
Rabbits love licorice?  Wondering how they found that one out!

I see you 'attracted' your own hummingbirds.  ;)  What a pretty pair!

As for the impromptu swim meet, I would never go up against a lab.  Four legs with webbed feet are definitely a major advantage over the human two legs without webbed feet.  LOL!

Your day outdoors sounds like a bit of heaven.  :::sigh:::  So glad to hear you had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather.
