Wasted Paper

Photobucket

Well I was right, I said winter hadn`t left us yet and today it reappeared with an icy blast. It makes feel cold even thinking about it despite having the central heating on. I won`t mention the weather until the sun shines again...lol!

I should have mentioned the other day that Jake is laid up again, this time with an injured front paw. He has been a bit lame on it for a while but we put it down to arthritis. On Sunday I noticed he was really chewing his paw and he wouldn`t let me look at it, a sure sign that there was something wrong because handling him has never been a problem. On Monday Jim took him to the vet and she found that he had bitten a big chunk out of one of his pads, no wonder it hurt! She thinks he must have had a thorn or some foreign body in it but had chewed it out himself. She gave him a course of antibiotics and told Jim that he mustn`t have any exercise on hard surfaces until its healed for at least several weeks. At the moment he can`t go out at all and must be bored rigid being at home all day. On top of that he has to wear a big Elizabethan collar so he doesn`t chew his paw again.....poor old thing, I wish I could explain it to him.

We had less customers at work today because of the change of weather (sorry, had to mention it...lol!) I did have plenty to do thankfully, saving me from a morning of terminal boredom which is the downside to working at a garden centre in Winter, roll on Spring when we`ll be busy, busy, busy. The time always goes so quickly and we barely have time to draw breath but I love it.  I`ve been mentally planning how I want my garden this year. I decided that I`m going to plant some tall dahlias along with cosmos and gladioli, a bit of a change for me but I`m looking forward to it.

I filled the bird feeders this afternoon and swept the discarded seed from the garden path. Those goldfinches may be pretty birds but their table manners are dreadful, they seem to throw as much seed on the ground as they eat. I have a feeling that come the Summer I`m going to find sunflowers springing up all over the place...lol! Those birds are really funny because they sat nearby waiting for the replenished feeders to be hung back in the tree. It didn`t take long for a good flock of them descended along with a few chaffinches, great tits and some starlings, I just hope they`re grateful....lol!

As I`m going to Kerry`s on Saturday I`m going to do the ironing tomorrow instead of Sunday, I was going to do it today but decided it could wait another day...sigh. We`ve had a set back with the decorating, Jim finished papering the bedroom and it looked great, initially. However, once it was nearly dry we realised that the wallpaper wasn`t thick enough to cover some blemishes that were on the wall. So yesterday afternoon the new wallpaper came down again, much quicker than it went up. :o(  Jim is now going to paint the walls with white emulsion before wallpapering again, it`s just a shame that his hard work (and money!) has gone to waste. We are going to buy more of the same paper because we both really like it and we don`t want to settle for something else. On the plus side I managed to find a new duvet set in the colours I wanted. I couldn`t find a thing in the shops so I trawled the internet and found just the thing last evening, that`s one more thing out of the way. I still have to find a lampshade and two bedside table lamps and that will be that, though I doubt I find them online.

That`s it from me today, if AOL lets me I`ll be reading your journals, if not well...I`ll keep trying!  Take and Bye Bye for now. :o)

PS:  Happy St. Valentine`s Day!

Sorry to hear that the weather changed back to winter stuff.  We are currently enjoying some nice weather for a change.  However, they say after the weekend it will be cold and nasty again.  ::sigh::

Glad you could keep busy at work even if it was slow.   Nothing worse than sitting around work with nothing to do, and having to look like your busy.

Have a nice day!

Spring has NOT arrived for us yet here in Tennessee...I know you will enjoy your gardening, especially since you work at the garden center.  You'll get all kinds of ideas going for your own garden.  That would be nice.
So sorry about Jake's paw.  Give him a little paw kiss from Tugie.  LOL
Have a good day with Kerrie..I think that was today.  Oh, and leave the ironing for the day you need it...LOL  We iron as we go. It gives us a chance to watch the news each morning.  tee hee.

Hello~
The weather here in Vegas has been awesome (sorry). Both hubby and I have been wearing shorts and our sandals almost all week. But I'm not ready for 115' everyday...lol
You know Yager has done that with the pads on his paws. I'm not saying this is what happened to Jake, but dogs feel there allergies in the pads of their paws. And that's what it was. After an exam they discovered that was why he was chewing his pads (almost chewed half of it off! AWFUL) because they itched so bad. So he thinks that if he keeps chewing on it, which is his way of scratching it, it will stop. They gave him antihistamines and doctored up his injured pad and it got better. Poor baby had to wear that lovely cone for about 4 days..........awwwwww. Give Jake a big kiss & hug from me :)

Huggers,
Gayla
