Oh dear, I have a cold....not just any cold but Roman`s cold. He`s at home feeling quite poorly and I`m not really that bad, just a very sore nose, a cough and some congestion. Poor little Roman doesn`t understand and he just knows he doesn`t feel very well, hopefully he`ll be over the worst in a day ot two. Kerry says she isn`t too concerned as he doesn`t have a temperature but is just a little warm, these viruses just have to be given time to clear up. I wish I could pop over and give him a cuddle but since he`s moved away it`s not so easy anymore, hopefully I`ll see him Monday when we`ll all meet up on Reading where we`ll be finishing our Christmas shopping.
The last few days at work have been absolutely freezing. With no heating in the shop I might as well have been working outside it`s been that cold. Even though I wear three layers of clothing under my fleece and body warmer, thermal socks, scarf and fingerless gloves, I still felt cold. Today the weather has been several degrees warmer but because it`s very damp the cold just goes right through you. It`s what I call bone-numbing cold and I was glad to come home to my lovely warm, central heated house....bliss! There have been lots of customers buying their Christmas trees, lights and decorations. The lights are reduced in price by a third and are selling really well. I bought a holly wreath for the front door on Tuesday and it looks really lovely, I must take some photos to show you tomorrow.
Yesterday morning on the way to work there was a terrible accident. A man had slid on some ice and had been thrown off of his motorbike. Two ambulances were there and he was being attended to by both crews, it looked really bad and I`m looking out for some news. The hospital is just a couple of minutes away from the crash site and I hope and pray he`ll be alright. Because of the crash the traffic was badly held up and we had to crawl through the narrow gap between the abulances. When it came for me to go through a car came the other way and the driver was swearling loudly at me to back up and let him pass. I could clearing lip read what he was saying and I couldn`t repeat one word here. Aggressive driving like that is the kind of thing that causes accidents, especially on already dangerous icy roads...it made me very angry to think that man could behave like that when another man was lying on the grass verge badly injured or worse!
Last night Jim and I attended my works annual Christmas dinner. It was held in the pub across the road and the meal was wonderful. I had the traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and for dessert I had a chocolate pavlova, possibly the best tasting chocolate dessert I`ve ever had. If you like chocolate, it wasn`t to be missed. I would go back there just for the pavlova at least once a week...lol! We had to leave at 10pm because Jim had to be up at 4am for work but it was still a nice evening and everyone enjoyed themselves.
I must go now and put the evening meal on the hob and empty the washing machine. Then I can come back and read some journals. I hope you all have a nice evening and a lovely weekend. Bye Bye. :o)

Must be rough working in a garden centre in this cold but perhaps it might toughen you up and you will not catch all the bugs the rest of us catch lol. Poor little Roman, hope he feels better soon.
Glad you enjoyed that meal and oh how I would have loved that chocolate Pavlova but, of course, I never could. Hope the man in the accident will be o.k.

Hope Roman is better soon. I worry about Kevin as he has to travel through to Market Harborough on a motorbike....he has already had one accident (10 years ago )and if he has another he may lose his leg (he has a titanium rod in his left one)......I just cannot understand why a lot of drivers are so stupid when the weather is bad and they can see there has already been an accident!!!
Hopefully you & Roman will both be feeling better by next week. Here in Washington state, they are really coming down hard on aggressive drivers. I guess the rest of us have a accept the fact that there are just some mean & nasty people out there, and we need to watch out for them. Linda in Washington state
I just Googled "chocolate Pavlova" and found a great recipe. I've printed it out and will have to try it. Did the Pavlova you had have fruit on it? This recipe calls for fresh berries such as strawberries, raspberries or black berries. Linda
I hope that your and Roman's cold is soon gone. That's bound to make anyone sick working out in that cold. I hope the poor man makes it who was in that accident. There was no call for that man to be so rude to you. Helen
Hope your colds soon clear up and I hope the accident man recovers well. Eileenx
Everyone seems to fighting off cold lately. Enjoy your weekend.

Feel better soon! Shame on the driver for cursing at you, and you're right. It's people like that who CAUSE accidents! ~~Kath~~
So sorry you're not feeling well, working in all that cold can't help. I love your graphics. Joni
Get well soon, Sandra. Some people just ask for accidents, don't they
Sandra
So sorry about the cold you are suffereing from. I hope your symptoms go away soon. As for the physical cold at work, gee whiz! I cam well imagine how you must relish getting home to the warmth of your house. I can't believe the way that other driver acted towards you. But, in this day and age, perhaps I can. We have them over here in the US that way, too. Such a shame! Glad you enjoyed the Christmas Party for your work and the chocolate dessert sounds yummy, especially to someone like me trying to watch my calories, LOL! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and Jim!

Hello,
That is terrible for that man to act like that and it's scary. I live in Las Vegas and they're are accidents every single day here where someone gets killed. Road rage is by far a contributing factor. Myself, I drive "defensively" and I go the speed limit. I'm always watching out for the other guy on the road because you just can't be cautios enough. For the life of me I will never understand why people have to get so mad behind the wheel. Driving is a (and can be) an enjoyable privelage.
Glad to hear you had a nice time at your companies Christmas dinner :)
Huggers,
Gayla
I think there is no excuse for road rage and I despair at the bad driving at this time of the year. That poor man I hope he is ok. Love Conniex
Hi Sandra. I hope the cold has gone by the time you read this. Enjoyed reading your blog as usual.

Am playing catch up here ,I too have had this cold, a real stinker in fact,I do hope you and Roman are feeling better ,Keep warm ..love Jan xx
That is why I HATE motocycles. The are hard to see, easy to lose control of and people don't pay attention to them. My DH rode them from skooters to big bikes to dirt bikes. He taught me to drive one and I NEVER felt self out in traffic. FINALLY he got rid of all them and now he goes and buys this Indian to fix up. Hopefully he will fix it, ride it a bit and get rid of it. My son wants a Harley and I might snap his neck before HE gets the chance. LOL He has this need for speed. he just sold a car he had been drag racing and bought a truck. I could have jumped for joy.
Try to stay warm and tell me more about that choc dessert. I am SUCH a chocoholic.
Holiday hugs, Barb
Late commenting as usual! I blame the workmen, who have just this morning cleared out of the house. I love to see your journal appearing among my stacked-up alerts; it's like calling in for coffee.
