Puppy Tales and a Leaky Roof!

Hello everyone,

Thank goodness it`s Friday, I can have a much needed rest for the next two days. I have a hairdresser`s appointment tomorrow morning so I won`t be able to get much housework done, never mind I won`t lose any sleep over it...lol!

I`ve been quite busy at work with one thing and another. Customers are buying their Autumn plants and Spring bulbs at the moment.  We have a special offer of two hanging baskets of Winter pansies for the price of one and they are proving very popular. Today I bought a large white Agapathus that had been reduced to half price, I just had to have it as it was such a bargain and with my staff discount it was even cheaper. I can`t wait to see it flower next Summer, it will be gorgeous. One of my orchids is growing a new spike and I`m sure it will be a beauty too. This one is exceptionally healthy with firm waxy leaves and strong roots. A complete change from the sorry specimen I rescued last year. Usually I don`t say anything about customers but today I`ll make an exception. A lady came in with her young son and asked if we had any children`s playhouses in stock. I said we did, thinking what a nice present for her little boy.....wrong......it was for her puppy.....!!!!!  (they are very expensive, the playhouse that is) A kennel wasn`t good enough and he had to have windows and doors. Jake has all of those things of course.....it`s called our house...lol! Sometimes it`s very hard to keep a straight face at work but it DOES brighten up the day. :o)

Yesterday I was driving home after doing the Tesco shop and it poured down with rain. To my dismay I felt a drop of water on my head, and another....and another. Oh dear I think there is a leak in the sunroof`s seal. When I got home I opened and closed the sun roof just in case it wasn`t shut properly and now I`m waiting for another downpour so I know for sure. If it`s a leak it`s back to the garage to see why they sold me a leaky car...sigh.

Kerry is going away for the weekend to my SIL`s in Kent so I hope the weather will be good for them. It will be a shame if Roman can`t go out to the beach while he`s there. Kerry and Slava have heard from their solicitor that it could take FOUR more weeks to finalise the purchase of their house. Their solicitor blames the seller`s solicitor and vice versa. All they want is to move into the house and they don`t care whose fault it is.

I`m hoping that tomorrow afternoon I can plant my Winter bulbs. Then I can start thinking of a few hanging baskets and tubs. Not as many as I have in Summer though, just a few to brighten the garden up through the gloomy Winter months. We need a bit of colour to get us through the grey days.

I`m off now to read some journals. I hope you all have a great weekend, bye for now and take care. :o)

I hope your car leak is not going to be one of those things that nag you for ever and that the dripping soon stops.

When I was a young man, I had a leak coming through my wind screen and, as a temporary measure, I borrowed my girlfriend's clear nail varnish (Now my wife) and the trick, after painting the varnish on the outside of the screen, got us home without getting wet.

The other point I want to let you know is that I have changed my blog server to
www.thoughts.com/oldjohn

If you wish to make a reply all you have to do, I think, is to click on Blog Title, scroll down to the Add Comments box and then click on submit when you want to send the information.

By for now.

John.

Keep wishing we can get a house move sooner rather than later. Haven't bothered with any bedding plants here this year, but it's made the place look so dull. Enjoy your weekend.

I bought some daffodil bulbs today that have a pink tinge to them.  Haven't decided where to plant them yet...maybe in a pot so I can put it up close to the house where I can see them.  I've planted tulips & daffodils clear into January, so I'm no in a hurry to get them in the ground.  Have a good weekend,  Linda in Washington state

Wow, that was something that the playhouse was for the puppy.  How true it is that our pets have OUR HOUSE for their playhouse...so right you are!  LOL
Hope things can move faster for Kerry and Slava to move, here they are all packed, ready to roll.  Hope she has a nice trip...you enjoy your weekend, Sandra...hugs and love,
Joyce

I hope the puppy appreciates the playhouse! I've never seen a white agapanthus, only the blue ones. They're very big and bold, I love them. Hope the sunroof isn't leaking, maybe it just wasn't shut tight. I think a good weekend was forecast weather wise for the south coast, hope Roman gets his beach outing! Jeannette xx

Sandra I laughed at the Lady wanting a playhouse for her puppy ~ Our Boys use the house as their Kennel but I am sure they would appreciate a Play House just for them :o)   Hope it was only needing to close the sun roof to stop that leak ~ and I Hope the weather holds out and Roman gets to go to the Beach ~ and they will all be in their New home Sooner rather than Later ~ have a lovely weekend ~ Ally x

Ooh,  I didn't know you could get white agapanthuses (or is it agapanthi? - lol).  Huse buying is the very devil - mum had no chain either side and it STILL took 3 months before she could move in.

Hi Sandra. Just popped in to see how you are. By the sound of it you appear to be OK. I am thinking of using my Blog Dan's Images again. I try to attach some of my personal photos to e-mails but they are too big. Will send everyone an alert when I do. Dan

Well those pets must be really pampered with her buying a playhouse for them, still I suppose they can go in there when it rains.  I hope the leak in the car roof does not turn out to be too costly and that Kerry's move goes smoothly.

You sure are a plant expert! I am lucky to keep my grass green! Hope Kerry gets to move into her new home soon. I know how exciting that can be. My ex hubby and I bought a new home and watched it being built. We were out there each weekend to see the progress on it. It was an exciting time.

maybe you are the person I should ask. What do I do with a plant that is all skinny and long, not branched out like it should be? And if I have some priennnials that are through blooming for this year, can I cut them back to the ground and plant something else for a season? Will they still come up next year? I have the oddest mums. They bloomed like crazy all summer and now that it's fall and they are supposed to bloom theyare all tired and bedraggled>

A house for a puppy. Hmm. I guess some pups need the very best!
Oh I hope your new car doesn't have a leaky sunroof.
Hope you get your chance to get your planting done.
Take care. Hugs, Barb
P.s. Hope your leg is OK.
