Breaking Glass and other Tales

Hello my friends,

So much for me telling you all about Thorpe Park as I haven`t even posted an entry since Sunday. Really all I can say was that we had a terrific day out with all of us enjoying ourselves. I didn`t go on any rides except for the little ones with Roman and one called The Flying Fish which I call the rollercoaster for the cowardly...lol! Long gone are the days when I risked life and limb for the thrill of the most scary ride that I could find. Though I have to say that I agree with the comment that Jeannette left on last weeks entry, the rides were never as big and scary as they are today. There is a beach play area called...ummm, I forget now but Roman absolutely loved it and we spent over an hour paddling around in the warm shallow water, with the Little Man having great fun splashing water all over me...lol!  As we took our own food we hardly spent any money apart from the admission fee except for icecreams and coffee. The highlight of my day was getting accosted by a group of manic clowns! I was about to take a photo when one of them grabbed my camera and another started waving a rubber chicken in my face. Good job I wasn`t one of those people who might have told him what he could do with the flippin` chicken...lol! It certainly made Kerry and Roman laugh as I made a hasty getaway and let the clowns pick on someone else...lol!  At the end of the day I for one was exhausted and all I wanted was to sit down with a nice cup of tea, which I made as soon as I got through the door.

On Monday the chap who is fixing our roof, Jason called to say that the scaffolding was going up the next day but because of the drastic change of weather the work (due to begin on Wednesday) would have to be cancelled till Thursday. It was still wet on Thursday so he won`t be able to start till Monday. Never mind, it`s not as though we`re in a rush to have the work done, it`s not as though the roof is leaking.

On Thursday I broke another pair of glasses, my third pair in six months! Now I have just the one pair left and will have to visit the opticians after we get back from Dorset next month. I can`t believe that I could be that careless, it`s not something I`ve ever done to one pair let alone three. Also my sunglasses are about to fall apart so I`ve had to invest in another pair. I have had them for about six years and they weren`t cheap either but I suppose I`ve had my monies worth out of them. I suppose I`ll just have to get used to this new pair and hope I don`t break them too.

I`m nearing the end of my course of antibiotics for my jaw infection and I`m pleased to say it`s almost completely better now. I say almost because I won`t know if they`ve been successful until after I stop I finish the course but I`m very optimistic. Anyway, I`m heartily sick of the dentist and won`t be going back there in a hurry...lol!

Yesterday evening we hung the new mirror and the pictures in the living room. It`s nice to have something to look at on the walls again and the mirror really makes the room look bigger. Because the mirror is quite big and really heavy Jim and I did it between us, mind you with my track record of breaking glasses I wasn`t the best person to help with a mirror....lol!

This morning we went to see Kerry and Slava`s new house in Tadley. It`s in a nice area that is fairly rural that is about 35 miles from here. The house itself will be really nice once it`s had a good clean (I`m not at all impressed with the present owners` housekeeping skills) and tidy. Later on when they are nearing completion we will be going over there armed with cleaning products and vacuum cleaners to give the place the once over. The kitchen is thick with grease and I won`t even begin to describe the inside of the oven!  It`s nothing that we can`t put right and I know once they are surrounded by their own things they will feel right at home. The garden is in need of a major overhaul but it won`t be too difficult as it`s not very large. The first thing will be to dig up what`s left of the lawn and re-seed it before winter sets in. The owner has thrown seed over it but I`ll be getting rid of that as soon as possible, along with the stinging nettles that are growing all over it. I forgot my camera as I wanted to get as many before and after photos as possible but I`ll take it next time....hopefully!

Right, I must go and prepare some dinner but I hope to post again within the next couple of days.....if I remember...lol!  Bye for now and have a great weekend. :o)

Great pictures Sandra, so glad you had a good day out.  How about a picture of your new mirror, it is nice to have things on the wall and I remember when we hung our mirror.  I do not fancy those manic clowns.  I was never keen on clowns, hated them even as a child and never found them funny, only scary.  Hope your jaw is totally cured by your tablets. xxxxxx

Roman looks great inhis new gear Sandra.Bless him. Those large mirrors do take some hanging, when we hung ours,I was sat all night expecting it to fall LOL!! It's been ok so thats good.Scaffold up and ready.Your home looks like a fiend of mines X local authortiy which she bought.Same style same frontage windows etc.Pebble dashed the same too.I thought I was looking at hers.Haaaaaaa.I know the feeling about the house Kerry has taken been there done it all loads of times and it's something  I hate doing is cleaning someone elses dirty things.I don't mind cleaning other peoples homes as such, but not the empty type you mention what people have left.As for specs.I have broken mine a thousand times, but there the sort where the lenses slip back into very fine nylon cord, which is hardly visible .So luckily I  can do it myself, after I forget and sit down on them Haaaaaa and the frames never break if I sit on them,I believe the optician did say something to that effect when I chose them. Expensive, but all I am fit for Haaaaaaaa. My sunglasses are my last pair of reading specs I had which the optician just tinted the lenses to suit me ,as I loved the frames.Which saved me money having to buy the complete lot.Have a good week/end.Take Care God Bless.

Roman looks so cute in his blue raingear, I'm sure you'll get some rain for him to try it out, I know you would here, not now though.  He sure has grown since I started this journal in Sept last year, what a cutie.  Your flowers are beautiful.
I'm behind in posting too, maybe today.  Joni

Hi Sandra !!!!!!!!!!

Its nice to hear about Roman and to hear from you. I wish I could be there to join you. I went out shopping today at Walmart which you might read about in my journal. I'm quite careless to I recently lost my bank card but I got a new one in the mail. I'm glad to hear that your jar infection is almost better now. Do tell your family a j-lander in Georgia says hello. Its been pretty hot here so I haven't really done anything in our yard these days. I am waiting till it gets cooler here. I just thought I would come by and say hello.

Roman looks very dapper in his new wet weather gear, he'll certainly get some wear out of it this summer! I couldn't agree more about dentists ~ horrid people! Lol! I hope your new glasses last some time this time! I went to Thorpe Park a couple of years ago, Andy goes on the rides but I sit and watch! Have a great weekend! How ironic the roofers seem to be taking their time when you could use them the most. I loved the pictures. Jake was ever the watchdog guarding his little man. Roman is beginning to look a bit more like his dad these days. Looking forward to seeing pictures of Kerry and Slava's new house. You are hard on glasses dear heart! I've had my current pair for the past 5 years. Speaking of which it is about time for me to get my eyes examined. In all fairness I just use my glasses to see when I first get up in the morning. Otherwise I generally wear contact lenses. (Hugs) Indigo

Oh my goodness.  Roman is getting to be so big.
So cute in his blue rain slicker.
I'd hate to be a roofer.
Like staying on the ground.  LOL
