AAAAAGGHHH! It DID Hurt!

Hello Everyone,

Well the tooth has been removed and I can`t say I`m glad either. The pain I was in before is nothing to the pain I was in afterwards. I will explain.

My appointment was at 1.30pm, just 30mins after I`d finished work. Jim took me and collected me from the garden centre where I got changed and spruced myself before the big event. The dentist was late back from lunch, not that I was too bothered as I was thinking about cancelling anyway...lol! Then once I`d had THREE injections to numb the area I nearly fainted right there in the dentist`s chair, I felt such a fool. Apparently the adrenaline in the injection, I think it`s cocaine based, can cause this too happen. I was also told that I should have ate something before I arrived. How could I do ? I work on a cash register and I`m not sure the customers would like to be served by someone with their mouth full of sandwich...lol! And then of course I had to clean my teeth so I couldn`t eat...sigh.

Once I`d come round after my dizzy spell the dentist wasn`t happy that my mouth wasn`t as numb as it should be so it meant another 2 injections before I was ready. It then took 10 minutes to remove the tooth and to do so meant "manouvering"  (His word not mine) the other side of my jaw to help loosen said molar. Well, the pain from the good side of my jaw was nothing short of excrutiating, something I didn`t expect and hope never to feel again. When I left the chair the "good" side of my face really hurt and I had difficulty in signing the documents afterwards. I told the dental nurse, who by the way was really nice to me, that I hoped she would forgive me for saying that I hoped never to see her again. She laughed and I attempted to, my frozen face just wouldn`t allow me to smile properly. I have decided that if I ever need to have such a large tooth removed I will ask for a full anaesthetic because I`m not going through that again.

I did however go into town with Jim afterwards. I needed to renew my car tax and send a parcel to a friend and I didn`t want to leave either until next week. I also bought some extra strength painkillers for when the numbness in my jaw wore off. I took a couple an hour ago and I`m glad to say that they do work.

I`ve also bought myself a new mobile phone. My old one is just that, old, and very unreliable, by which I mean it keeps switching itself or not recognising the SIM card. Also the battery runs out very quickly so it has to go the mobile graveyard....lol! My new phone was a bargain (you know what I`m like) and is exactly what I wanted. It`s a NOKIA as are all the phones I`ve ever had because they are the easiest to use, very important from my point of view. As the phone was much cheaper than I`d budgeted for I have some money for a couple of plants that I`ve had my eye on lately. They are Agerpanthus and they are just coming into flower and I have just the spot for each of them in my garden....:o)

Right, that`s enough about my tooth and my spending habits for one day. I`ll bid you all goodnight and I`ll see you in my next entry. :o)

PS: How can I go without thanking you all for your prayers and well wishes. It means a lot to me that you all care. :o)

PPS: Dan IS seeing Salina again.  I have proof! :o)

Glad that your trip to the mouth doctor (I hate the word Dxxxxxt) went okay, I always used to have loads of jabs before I was numb then I drooled like an idiot for hours on end afterwards!!!! I have a Nokia again now, only drawback is it is on the 3 Network, cheap on the subsciption charge but I keep losing the signal, lol!!!

ahh dear heart I know just what your going through. I have some kind of weird immune system that tends to do the oppisite of what med. are suppose to do for someone. Needless to say it makes it hard for my dr. or dentist to figure out just what will work on me. I have had the multiple shots of novacaine and still been fully aware of the pain. On those visits I suffer. Wonderful news about Dan and Salina. I hope Dan has enough common sense to finally make it official. That girl is worth her weight in gold. (Hugs) Indigo

Oh, Sandra!  What an ordeal you went through with the tooth.  The only up side is that the current pain will eventually go away.  Had you not had the tooth pulled you would have had constant pain forever.  Glad you got the extra strength pain killers on the way home.  I have a feeling you might need them for a day or two.  I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

I can feel your pain. Thats just about like what I went through last summer. It took five shots to deaden mine also and I felt a little woozy after getting them. He had a hard time getting mine out also. I hope you don't have the dry socket like I did. Not even prescription pain killers along with over the counter pain meds touched that pain. I had to get it packed two times before it quit that hurting. Then I had to go back and he took some more bone out and had to sew that up. He told me to take all those meds. Little good they did. We have Nokia phone here also. I hope things work out with Dan and Salina. Also I hope your jaws do ok. Hugs, Helen

I'm so glad for you that's it's all in the past now.  Sometimes I think these medical people just don't think about how the patient feels.  It's nice that you can just go buy pain pills.  We can't do that here without a prescription.  Hopefully you won't have to see the dentist, except for a cleaning, for a long time.  Take care, Joni

So glad your tooth has gone now and you can recover even if it takes a few days. My Agga is just about to flower too am going to move mine later this year and put it in a big pot think it will do better as it is getting crushed. Keep taking the pills. Love Joan.

Oh Sandra that sounds awful.  I haven't had a tooth pulled for over 40 years when the dentist took out my wisdom teeth.  I truly believe you should have been put into a "twlight" sleep or something, so you would have been totally relaxed and you would have not remembered the whole ordeal.  Well, it's over now.  I can't believe you were able to go out & run errands afterwards.  I hope things work out for Dan & Salina...I totally understand ..I have the same thing going on here with my son Jim & Carrie.  Linda in Washington state

Hi Sandra ,that sounded quite a visit to the dentist you don't want to repeat for a long time ,hope its less painful for you now .My phone is a Nokia, like you say its easy to use and text with .Also I have a agerpanthus ,which I've had for many years ,it was given to me by a friend who is no longer with us ,so I treasure it although it doesn't seem to have so many flowers on this year .Hope Dan and Sal are happy, if thats what they both want ........Love Jeanxx

Sorry you had to undergo that traumatic experience at the dentists and sincerely hope you are feeling a lot less pain by now. Take care and try to take things easier for a few days. Shouldn't be too hard - it's going to rain cats and dogs, especially on Friday, which will mean a very quiet garden centre. You might even have time to snaffle a sandwich betwen customers lol.
Love & hugs

If I have to have anything mega done at the dentist's I always have a sort of 'holier than thou' feeling towards the rest of the world afterwards!  Can't help it, I feel so superior having been so brave, I feel 9 ft tall!  Unfortunately the 'slab-gob' stage soon wears off, reducing me to a pill-popping, quivering mass.  Everything's OK with you now though I hope.
