Hello Everybody,
Thank goodness it`s Friday because tomorrow morning I can have a well deserved lie in. I`m fed up with having to get up just after 6am and I really need that extra couple of hours sleep. Last night I was in bed an hour early and I didn`t even bother to read my book but it didn`t make any difference this morning, I was still really tired when I woke up, very unlike me really.
Roman is really much better than he was the other day, a bit of a grumpy-bum still but over the worst, it must have been a virus as he didn`t need any medical treatment in the end. He must be better because he sat still while he was having his hair cut today and he doesn`t really enjoy the experience. Jake soon got over the colitis flare-up but I`m still being very careful with his diet as I think his tummy is a bit on the delicate side at the moment. As for me, either I`m getting a summer cold or I have a touch of hay fever. Not great if you work in a garden centre surrounded by plants and flowers all day. I can`t stop sneezing and wiping my eyes and nose, I don`t know what the customers must think with this snivelling woman taking their money...lol!
Guess what ? Our elusive and most unwelcome visitor the rat is no longer with us. One morning last week I opened the door to let Jake out and there it was at the bottom of the garden as dead as a rat could be. The first thing I did was cover it with a heavy earthenware pot so that Jim could deal with it when he got home, there was no way I was going to touch it even with gloves. It looked as though a cat had got it and if I ever meet that cat I`ll give it a nice saucer of milk as a reward.....note: must get a cat...lol!
I`ve been gardening again, and have bought new plants....again. I replaced the rose that died with another red climber but this time it was another make and variety AND I`ve planted it somewhere else where it will get more sun and we will get an excellent view from the window. I also bought another clematis (Paradise Queen), it has huge white with pink striped blooms and will flower all summer long as will the rose too. I`ve also been preparing my pots and planters for the summer bedding so that I won`t have too much to do when when the planting begins, all I need to do now is buy the plants and they can wait until the middle of next month, we can still have some ground frosts and I don`t want to lose of of them.
I`ve been playing around with my new camera and have some more photos to post over the weekend. I`ve managed a couple of bird pics but they could be better, I must ask the birds to be more considerate and to sit still while I take the photos, not much to ask eh? lol!
I`ve given Jake a bath and now he is lovely and soft again with his coat shining blue-black in the sunshine. I don`t know how long it will last though as he goes swimming in Black Park lake every day and goodness knows what`s in the water. I reckon a bath every 6 weeks or so would be a good thing for the summer.
This afternoon Kerry and I went went to Windsor and I bought Jim`s birthday present and card. His birthday is on the 25th and I had almost forgot about it and had no idea what to buy him. I ended up buyimg him vouchers for Marks&Spencer as he likes their clothes and he can decided for himself. In fact we`ve all bought vouchers so he can go out and treat himself whenever he likes. Kerry is at her wits end with Roman who no longer sleeps through the night, in fact he wakes up about four times and just will not go back to sleep however tired he is. She and Slava are worn out through lack of sleep and don`t know what to do with Roman, they`ve tried everything to no avail. I wish I could suggest something but as I`ve had no experince of this I don`t know what else to suggest. Any tips would be very welcome and I can pass them on.
I`m going to say goodbye for now my friends so I hope you all have a lovely relaxing weekend. Take care. :o)

Try some Chamomile tea, might help Roman sleep. I sometimes drink it to help me sleep.

Glad that whatever killed that rat, for a while at least. I wouldn't know what to suggest about Roman. Is he getting to much sleep in the daytime. If he is that could be the culprit. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I can't wait to see some pictures of all your flowers when you everything going good. Hugs, Helen
Hi Sandra glad roman is feeling better.I can relate to your tired feeling in a morning.Well odd mornings anyway lol.Sorry to hear about you getting a cold. It's hardly surprising with the weather changing as it is.The last couple of days have been chilly ones.Hope you feel better real soon.I bet your garden is the envy of your neighbours.LOL that bit about the birds and the camera sure gave me a laugh lol.Happy Birthday to Jim on the 25th.Shame on you for almost forgetting it lol.Have a great weekend.

((((((((((((((((((HUGSTOYOU)))))))))))))))))))Glad Roman is feeling much better,I bet He looks good with His hair cut.I am not a moring person,so,I know how tired is.I dont want to get up in the moring,I am a night person.I stay up late.Have a good weekend.
Hi Sandra,
So pleased that you have got rid of that nasty horrible critter, the rat, good luck with the new rose, hope you get a lie in, in the morning.
As for Roman not sleeping, is he sleeping to long during the day, lavender is very good for helping you to relax, tell Kerry to try giving him a nice warm bath with some lavender in it, also to sprinkle some lavender oil round his bedroom on his pillow and pyjamas, may be a cup of horlicks or just warm milk might help him to sleep, failing this then she has to get cruel, (nasty mummy) and just keep putting him back in his bed without talking to him, hope all some of this helps them to get a decent nights sleep
love Lynne xx
I'm glad you got rid of your unwelcome rat! You've been dealing with that for awhile now.
As far as tips for Roman to sleep better...well...I have none. My son didn't sleep through the night until he was 3 yrs old! It was a nightmare! I was in a daze for that whole time. I wish them luck!
Happy Bday to Jim! I hope he has a good one!
Pam
Sounds more like hay fever than a cold, Sandra. Let's hope Roman's sleeping blip will go away again as quickly as it came.

Goodbye ole Rat. We knew ye well. LOL Hope you can get some relief for your cold or hayfever. Poor Kerry & Slava with the little man not sleeping. Maybe he is growing. Or teething? Hope it resolves itself soon. Feel free to ship him to me. One more for me to rock would be just fine! Have a wonderful weekend and give that Jake a scratch behind the ear from me.
Hugs, Barb
I am so glad that the rat problem is sorted. We had two climatises die this spring. I was really disappointed. One actually made a small go of it this spring and then just fizzled out. We had them along the fences. Oh well.
Hope you got your lie in today!
Love,
Susie

I am so pleased Mr Ratty has gone ~ if you find that cat you should give him the cream from the milk :o) ~ Hope Roman is feeling better hope he soon gets back to a regular good nights sleep poor Kerry and Slava must be worn out ~ Glad Jake is feeling better ~ sounds like you have a touch of Hay Fever not good when you work with plants and flowers ~ Look forward to seeing all your Photographs ~ (Those birds have no consideration for us humans) glad you remembered Jim's Birthday ~ Vouchers are good idea Jim can choose whatever he likes with them ~ Hope you have a good weekend ~ Ally
I hope Jim has a lovley birthday and that your sneezing is soon over.
John.
Hi Sandra !!!!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoyed your Friday. What book are you reading at the moment ? I do hope Roman is feeling better. I would like to say hello to you and your family. The pollen isn't as bad as used it to be it is settling down quite a bit. My mom and I washed off our deck a few minutes ago because it was covered in pollen but its all gone now.
We have rats outside of our building at work but there are some people who want them trapped so they are working on getting rid of them.
My flowers that I bought at Home Depot are still alive and well. I don't have a green thumb but I thought that I would give another try at keeping flowers alive. So far so good. My Lavender plant is also doing well on our deck it is still up and kicking and it smells wonderful.
I am glad to hear about Jake I wish I was there to meet him face to face. I also wish I was there to meet your family. Tell Jim HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me. As you know Sunday is my birthday.
That's all for now. Take care Sandra.
Hi Sandra:
So glad the rat met his end haha! I would be horrified as I can not deal with rodents hehe! Tell Kerry and Slava not to do a thing and let Roman cry and cry. He will eventually give up and go back to sleep. Wyatt used to go through phases like that and it was really hard. I would go in every 10 minutes of him crying and pat his back and say "it's OK baby, go night night" and then I would leave. Took a good week and a half but he quit. Very hard on your heart as a Mom but chances are he is Ok and is just testing Mom and Dad.
Kara :)
Cats are known to kill mice and in your case a large rat, and bring them to the doors of the owner or where they will find them. I find mice that my neighbor's cat does at my home. Voucher's for Jim is a great way to give someone something that is exactly what they would want. I found that Salty's yelping over his area of pain in his stomach groin area is probably muscle's that he strain's. I talked with the Veterinarian about it and he said it was too far back to be hernia and it is not in the stomach. Jake is doing well with his swimming activity and I hope his colitis is able to be managed and doesn't cause him too much discomfort. That must be difficult for Kerry and Slava to lose sleep every night with Roman waking up and not going back to sleep. mark
I hope Jim has a happy bday. I love clematis. I had one, i looked at it, it died. SIGH.
I hope you are feeling better and i wouldnt have dealt with that rat either. EWW!
XOXO lj
Hope your feeling better soon hon with whatever it is you have going on. Talking about Baths Pickles is in need of one, perhaps tomorrow. She has been outdoors playing with the warmer weather. Sitting in all the dead winter weeds, I have been cleaning out of my own flower beds to get them ready for planting soon. I went to pet her and ended up with a cloud of dust that would even have Pig Pen from Charlie Brown envious. As for Roman sleeping , try warm milk with a touch of honey. It worked like a charm for Skye when she was little. (Hugs) Indigo
Ooo er hope you haven't got hay feaver like you say working in a garden centre is not a good place for that!! Hope Roman is sleeping better now ~ poor Kerry and Slava can't be good for them to keep getting up :( Good news about the rat though.
Jenny
Hi Sandra. . love your photos as usual. And your pretty graphics too.Working in a day nursery I see many tired parents and look after some very tired toddlers too.Ive heard a lot of parents rave on about the "controlled crying" method. . .everyone says it works .
