Hello Everyone,
Welcome to a dull and dreary Saturday morning. What a miserable day it is too, the snow has all but disappeared ( we had loads of it on Thursday) and what`s left is grey and slushy. If only the sun would show it`s face, it might seem a much more cheerful day.
Like I said, on Thursday morning we woke up to find that a blanket of snow had fallen overnight making everything bright and cheery, until of course I had to drive to work and that changed things a little. I decided to clear the snow from my car with a house broom and it took me all of a couple of mins. My neighbours on the other hand were using little ice scrapers and it seemed to take them forever, that`s men for you, forever impractical. I know, I know, you can`t all be that bad...lol! After a slow crawl into work I drove into the car park and it was more like a ski slope. My poor little car went everywhere apart from where I was steering it. Eventually I brought it to a halt and hoped and prayed that I`d be able to drive away again when I finished at 2pm. I think in the course of the day I served just four customers who were brave enough to venture out. I can`t for the life of me imagine what one would need from a garden centre that can`t wait until the roads were safer, it certainly wasn`t a day any sane person would be gardening. I did manage to drive out though it wasn`t very easy and I must admit to being tempted to do a `wheelie` or two in the snow. I thought better of it in case I got stuck and couldn`t get out again, with my luck that would happen!
Jim`s cold has gone and I think I haven`t caught it either, my throat was a bit scratchy but nothing came of it so I think I managed to miss out again. I mentioned on Wednesday that I hadn`t seen the rat, well I still haven`t but I think Jake has. Each morning when I let him out he runs behind the shed and barks frantically. When I call him inside he`s very reluctant t come in again, not like him at all. I know he`s found something but I`ve no desire to investigate, I`ll leave that to Jim....that is man`s work...lol!
This morning I did my usual Saturday morning housework and decided it was time I gave the fridge an extra clean. I always thought I cleaned everything well but I had a shock coming. As I took one of the shelves apart I couldn`t believe the dirt that had got inside it, worse than that it smelled awful. I took the whole fridge apart and scrubbed and cleaned everything twice. I even used cotton buds to get into the most awkward places to make sure I didn`t miss the tiniest bit. Once verythig was clean, dry and back in place I felt so much better. I realise now it must have been where some milk had been spilled and not cleared away properly, though I wonder why there was no smell until I took the edges off the shelf. Also it`s a wonder none of us has had food poisoning.....
I`ve been waiting for a roofer to come and fix the tile this morning, the other bloke didn`t get back to us so he couldn`t have needed the work that badly. This new one hasn`t come either and I`m wondering does anyone want to fix it for us. Jim would do it hiself but he doesn`t have the right ladders for the job. I just hope the roof doesn`t leak with the rain and snow that we`ve had. Jim has fixed it temporarily but it won`t hold forever.
Jim`s at a fishing show today and goodness knows what rubbish he`ll bring home. He doesn`t need any more fishing gear but you can bet he`ll find something he just has to have...a bit like me and my new jacket I suppose...lol! The only difference being that my jacket was expensive and it doesn`t take up too much room. One day I`ll take all his gear and sell it as a job lot on eBay, I`d make a fortune...lol!
I`ve just noticed a cheeky little robin on the bird table outside my kitchen window. He`s been visiting for over a week nowand he seems almost tame. He looks right at me then carries on eating as if I`m not there. I think he must like me because after he`s finished eating he sits in a nearby tree and sings his little heart out. That`s what I call singing for your supper...lol!
Anyway, that`s it from me for today. I have lots of journals to read today so I`d better get on with it. Have a great weekend. :o)

I'm fishing every day but in my DS Lite world!
Glad that Jim is feeling better and feels like going to the fish show. Those dogs really like to try to get those critteres don't they. Patches digs for chipmunks like that. I couldn't imagine going to a garden center looking for something in the snow LOL. I need you to clean my fridge.LOL. It needs a good cleaning. Hope you get your roof repaired soon. Hugs, Helen
Ever watched one of the Naked Gun movies, where Lt Drebin opens the fridge, opens a take-away foodbox and falls over backwards lol
Hope your cold does not come to anything serious and that you havfe a good weekend. Love Joan.
Great entry and great graphics as per usual you've put a lot of work in to it.Must be cos you're a woman and they always make a good job of this sorta thing lol.
You are so brave to drive in the slick snow! I am scared to death of it!!! Good for you for cleaning your fridge out. I really need to do that also!!
Kara :)
I love the Bunny, it reminds me of Spring which I wish was here. the weather here has been very warm lately. Joni
Hi Sandra - yes isnt it a grim saturday weather wise. I bet your Jake knows where the rat is - I reckon we had them at the bottom of our garden as Oscar used to do exactly the same - he used to charge down and bark and jump about. Laine xx

I am glad you were able to manage driving to work without getting in trouble on the slick slushy snow. Having gotten your fridge good and clean should be a relief each time you open the door and know its scrubbed. That is good that Jim has gotten over the cold and now you will get to see what new fishing gear he has added to his collection, lol . Hope the tiles get fixed soon by the roofers. mark
I hope you too can have a lovely week end and that Jim gets all the gear he needs.
By the way, my late father was a very keen fisherman. I have seen him break the ice to be able to fish. In his day, he was higly rated and also used, for free, to teach young an old alike, how to fish.
For my part, I could not stand being in one position for long and wanted to go for a walk and I suppose that is where my interest in nature comes from.
By for now,
John.
I hope you are joking about the fishing stuff ,you wouldnt be very popular lol ,YES our snow has gone thakgoodness I havent forgotten I have to email you with an answer lol ,off to clean my fridge now ...love Jan xx
We have had a dull miserable day here as well Sandra ~ the snow has all gone now and I hope for good ~ Lol at you cleaning the snow off your car with a house broom now that is what I call using your initative ~ glad you eventually made it to work safely and made it home safely as well ~ Glad Jim's cold is better ~ I don't think fishermen ever have enough gear ~ Tom inherited Dicks gear and what with his own his garage is full ~ but he still buys bits and pieces ~ Leave that Rat to Jim that is mens work ~ Hope you get that roof repaired soon ~ Ally x
We did not venture out at all on thursday but we did yesterday and once we got on the main roads it was fine, but our side roads were horrendous......today it is a case of 'wot snow?' cos it has rained virtually non-stop!!! I have been trying to sell a fishing reel on ebay for weeks but not managed to hook anyones interest, annoying but I will relist again at some point! Hope Jim doesn't/hasn't come home with more fishing tackle.....it's amazing what they come home with, what happened to good old fashioned rod, line and a fe worms.....its all too high tech these days!!!
I'm glad you were able to drive without having an accident. I just can't drive in snow. I don't do it often enough.
I can't imagine what someone would want at a garden centre in snow, either? A shovel perhaps?
I hope you get your roof repaired, and that Jake chases that ol' rat away.
Have a good weekend.
Pam
Well done for tackling the fridge! I'm hoping Jake will frighten the rat away! I think you'd need that fortune you get for Jim's stuff to buy a new house when Jim divorces you for selling his fishing tackle! Lol! I love robins, they have such lovely sweet voices too! I'm wondering myself why someone would venture out in bad weather for anything for the garden. As for my frig..........Now I can't get off it and I'll probably tear mine apart tomorrow!! See what you started, it's a frig. cleaning frenzy. (Hugs)

Hi Sandra I think you have made us all feel guilty about not cleaning our fridges often enough.Hope you soon get someone to mend the roof........Love Jeanxx
Oh Sandra, I swear that there are refrigerator fairies that come in the night and leave those nasty little messes - especially during the holidays! I shutter to think what I might find in my frig if I emptied it! I am SO glad that you didn't pick up Jim's cold and that he is finally on the mend!
Love,
Susie

Hello, hello! I haven't been around for a bit so it was good fun catching up on a few entries. It gave me cold chills to read about your snow and cold weather driving. I did giggle at your 'wheelie' idea and was happy to hear you thought better of it for safety sake. LOL I hope by now your roof has been repaired. Sounds like your repairmen are like the guys we have here. We are so lucky to find hard working guys who actually show up. Take care and get a picture of you wearing your new jacket - it sounds so cute!
hugs, Kathy
Sounds to me like Jake may be trying to scare up something. Glad to hear Jim is better & you didn't come down with it. We've been fortunate not have had any bad colds this winter (knock on wood). This is the most cold and wintry we have been in a while. I'm enjoying it. Last year we hardly had a chance to wear our winter clothes & coats! I was JUST thinking today I need to give the fridge a GOOD scrub down. I'm scared. LOL Hope you have a good week.
Hugs, Barb
Hi Sandra. Enjoyed reading to-days entry. Dan
