Hello everyone,
I wanted to do a nice upbeat entry but the headache I`m nursing keeps reminding me of what happened yesterday. Upbeat is NOT exactly what I`m feeling right now. I decided a visit to the doctor was in order so I phoned the surgery but couldn`t get an appointment for another week, instead I had a visit to the practice nurse who listened to my symptoms, looked at my notes and then at my eyes and then told me I`m very anaemic. Not just anaemic but that I must likely have pernicious anaemia, not something I really wanted to hear but there you are. She took three lots of blood, gave me an ECG and a doctors appointment for next Thursday. The thing is I`ve been feeling really tired recently, not that I was worried, we all get tired. Then I started getting breathless after climbing the stairs, NOT something that has happened before, then there is the lost of taste and smell, the headaches, then the chest pains and that was it, I HAD to see someone as I knew something was wrong. Anyway, I was told that Pernicious Anaemia was fatal up until the 1920`s before they discovered vitamin B12 controlled the condition, that was when the penny dropped.........I`d been given vitamin B12 injections in 2004, and very painful they were I might add! The point is that my doctor should have had my blood tested 3 mths later to see if the levels were stable, she didn`t and now I might have some permanent damage because of it....I am not impressed I can tell you. If it is Pernicious Anaemia I will have to have a course of injections every three months for the rest of my life, if it`s not I`ll have to have a lot more tests...I`ll find out next week so please think of me on Thursday 1st March, I must admit to being a bit nervous to say the least.
Work has been ok though I think after the Summer I`ll be looking for another job. I don`t think I fit in with the other staff as they`ve known each other for years and I`m still very much the intruder in their little clique. Everyone is polite but there is an atmosphere, I`m sure you know what I mean by that. Things may change but somehow I doubt it.
This afternoon I went to Tesco straight from work to do the weekly shopping. Jim and I have this arrangement whereby he shops when he is on late shift and I shop when he is on earlies. I really don`t mind but today I was exhausted and I forgot loads of things on the list he gave me...probably because of the way I`m feeling at the moment . I did however buy.......wait for it...........an orchid in the sale for £3....I couldn`t resist it because although the existing flowers were dying off I could see a new shoot coming from one of the spikes. Hmmm, they obviously don`t know very much about orchids or they would only sold it for half price, even then it would have been a bargain. When I got home and Jim saw the orchid he just laughed, he`s given up complaining about them....lol!
Anyway, my friends, I will say goodbye and go and read some journals before it gets too late or I fall asleep on my keyboard, whichever comes first...lol! Good night.:o)

My father in law has been suffering with the same thing Sandra. The symptoms sound very much like I feel too.Though I am not a one either for going to the docs only at the last minute.I just plod on and hope things go away. You take Care of yourself and rest and I would certainly look for another job after you feel more fit and well.If you don't feel you fit in there well to me thats the worst thing out when you go to work.So have a rest dear I am sure your lovely Jim will still give you some pennies to spend on your orchids and at M&S and Debanhams now and again LOL!!!!! I know we all like that little bit of our own earnt money, and the extra is nice, but your health and happiness comes first.Take Care God Bless I hope you soon feel a little better and I will certainly give you a thought on March 1st ok!!

I hope those test show exactally what is wrong with you and I pray that it isn't serious. I hope you new orchid comes on out and is pretty for you. Hugs, Helen
I hear an awful lot about doctors and nurses missing a medical problem, Sandra.
By the way, did you buy yourself a moth orchid? They're supposed to stop flowering in February, but they should resume in August. Snip back the flowering stalk. Other name is phalaenopsis.
I will be anxiously awaiting your test results. I hope everything is alright and can be treated easily.
I also hope your little orchid lives and blooms in Spring.
Take care Sandra,
Pam
Hi Sandra...

Hello Sandra,
So sorry to hear about your visit to the practice nurse, it's as well that you did go now though and not wait for the doctor's appointment, I'll be thinking of you on March 1st and I hope the news isn't as bad as you think.
The little present of the orchid sounds a good idea for you at the moment, you can nurture it while looking after yourself. I agree with the others as well about your job, find somewhere where you'll be appreciated. ~~~ Pat
So sorry you have been feeling poorly ,maybe the practise nurse was the better option ,in light of what she found ,they are often better than the Dr if you know what I mean ,?So sorry they are like that at work ,it cant be pleasant ,hope things work out for you ...love Jan xx
Aww bless your heart... nothing to mess with that type of Anemia...I give B 12 injections at work but no one has ever said they were painful..I shall have to ask... sorry you feel left out at work.. not fun aye? Wish we lived closer i think a girls day out and a couple of drinks and a laugh are in order...
Hugs
Lyn
Let's hope they can treat you for what ever it is you have Sandra. It's not nice to feel like that. Sorry you're having problems at work. Some places are very clique-y. The orchid spounds a bargain! Jeannette xx http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels/
Aww Sandra, so sorry to hear that you've not been well, I've never heard of Pernicious Anaemia, I would certainly have something to say to the Drs if you were having treatment 3yrs ago and certain blood test that you should have had wasnt done, especially if perminant damage has been done that could have been avoided, will be thinking of you on 1st March,
LOL at you bying ANOTHER orchid, how many do you have now? I hate it when people at work are clique it makes for a very uncomfortable atmosphere, they should remember that they were new once and should make people feel welcome instead of shunning them,
hope that you feel better soon Lynne xx
I hope you get to the bottom of your problem and start feeling good again.... take care, Sandra
B12 injections shouldn't be painful at all. I get them myself, and give them to patients, and have even given them to myself. Tell the nurse to be more gentle, LOL!! Seriously, I hope you get to feeling better soon, Sandra!
~~Kath~~

Sandra, of course I will be thinking lots of positive thoughts for you. It may be something they can fix simply so thats what I will pray for. As for the job I know what you mean, when I can to this job I'm at in September, I felt the same way.
It took a few months but now I'm starting to feel comfortable. I feel kind of bad because soon I will be telling them I'm retirering (can't spell) in July. Take care and hope you're weekend in wonderful. Joni
I am so sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly. I hate to hear about the initial diagnosis & hope it is something less serious. I will send my good thoughts and prayers your way. Imagine that...Sandra buying another orchid. :o) Get your rest & take care.
Hugs, Barb
Oh no Sandra! So sorry to hear you are so ill! Getting to the bottom of such things is always a frustrating experiance seems no matter where you live! I hope you get the care you need and get feeling better soon.
Kara
Hi Sandra sorry to hear you are not so good just now I always think of you running around looking after Roman working doing the garden and all you housework you usually make me feel old and tired. Hope you can get it all sorted out. Know how you feel about work too been there and had that done to me too. Thinking of you LOve Joan.
My friend has the B12 injections but she still gets a bid under the weather in the last week or so before the next one! I know what you mean about not fitting in....that is how I felt when I did my brief stint at the office at KGH.....they had their own little group and no matter how much they said they thought I was doing a good job I just felt uncomfortable there!!! I'd have got the orchid as well....the one Angela and Brian got me last year is beginning (I think) to shoot again, so fingers crossed for yours and mine!
So sorry Sandra that you are feeling tired and unwell ,lets hope they can sort it out for you .I know what you mean at work ,if a new girl starts at school I always try to help her fit in and try not to leave them out till they find their feet .The bargain orchid is going to a caring home ((Hugs)))..........Love Jeanxx

I am worried about you Sandra...you even sound tired in this entry. I am keeping good thoughts, and plenty of prayers for this condition...sounds very serious. I know you will be fine...just do as they tell you to do...get some rest. Understandable, that you would forget some items at the store...but don't worry...they can come later. Hope you feel better...please keep us posted. Hugs and tons of love,
Joyce
Oh Sandra, I am so sorry that you are ill and there doesn't seem to be an end to the problem in the near future. I will pray for you, sweetie, and keep you in my thoughts. Please let us know how you get on. I love orchids and have four now. All of them are "resting", but one just got done blooming for three months! If you can get a bargain like you did, go for it! Well done, you!

I am very sorry to hear that you are not feeling well and hope that the tests prove to be in your favour and that your health soon improves.
I know what you mean about the people you are working with, it is, in my case, the all important factor to work with people that are friendly.
My guess is, like me, you like to treat people with respect and expect that they too will do the same.
I await your next journal with hope and antisipation that you will find a new job soon.
By for now,
John.
Sandra I'm sorry to hear your news and I'm not surprised that your a little angry at your doctor. How could she make a mistake like that??!! I'm praying that you will hear some flippin' good news on Thursday *hugs* LOL @ you buying another orchid. How many have you got now?
Jenny

Sorry to hear this Sandra, I do hope that it's good news on Thursday m'dear. Know what you mean about the job too, it's no fun when you don't feel you fit in. Have a ((((( ))))) from me. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Sara x
I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts for good test results and I hope you can be treated without any painful injections!
Hugs, Kathy
Sandra, I am so sorry to hear this. We are both in the wars. Do you have a sore tongue or a very sore tip to your tongue. This is a known symptom of pernicious anaemia. That is what first took my mother to the doctor, she was injections for years. Maybe it is not that and something that can be treated with iron medications. I do feel for you, health can be such a worry particularly when things appear suddenly and you cannot explain them. I am here ifyou need me.
Sandra didn't get an alert for this ~ I am sorry that you are feeling tired ~ Hope the news you get on Thursday is good ~ I will be thinking about you ~ Ally x
I'm so pissed off at AOL for bouncing your alert, I'm so sorry I haven't been around. (Hugs) Please take care of yourself hon until you do get in to see the doctor. I'm worried about you. (I'm keeping you in my prayers on the smoke.
Love Ya Indigo
Oh dear, Sandra, I do hope your job doesn't go belly-up on you but the main thing is for you to be happy and get well. The two things go together. Lots of love, Angie, x
p.s. sorry about the late comment
