Hello Everybody,
I can`t believe it but it`s Christmas Eve at last. I`m really into the Christmas spirit now and can`t wait for tomorrow. OK, what`s been going on in the last week....erm...let me think. Oh yes, I have been really busy at work on Thursday and Friday which was useful as it was bitterly cold and at least it took my mind off the fact that I couldn`t feel my feet...lol! I really can`t believe some of these last minute shoppers, many of them having left their Christmas spirit at home with the tree and decorations. If it was going to make them so miserable why not shop a bit earlier. Never mind, I`m off until Wednesday and work for two days then I`m off again Friday until Tuesday which suits me fine.
Roman has been very poorly the last few days, he has a dreadful cold and conjuntivitis in both eyes. On Friday he spent most of the time sleeping on my lap, I hate to see him like that as I feel so helpless and I know he doesn`t understand, bless him. Jake has been limping on and off the last couple of days and I suspect he has early onset arthritis. The vet warned us that as he has mild hip dysplasia it would most likely show up by the time he is 5 or 6. I really didn`t expect it this soon as he`s not 4 until March. What is in his favour is that he is in great shape physically with strong muscled back legs and is the perfect weight for his size. If we keep him fit and slim and don`t over exercise him he should be fine for some time yet. He`d better be as I couldn`t bear to see him deteriorate too quickly.
I`m not a really superstitious person but what I did this morning will horrify those that are. I have broken a mirror, not just any mirror but the tall mirror that used to hang in the hallway. I must admit some quick mental arithmatic told me that I`ll be 61 when the `bad luck` runs out but I soon dismissed it. Me superstitious? Nah....fingers crossed...lol!
This afternoon I`ll be reading journals, peeling potatoes and sprouts ready for the morning. The turkey is defrosting in a bucket of cold water while the bacon and chipolatas are in the fridge. I keep thinking there`s something I`ve forgotten but if I have ,well so be it, I`ve had enough of shopping to last a lifetime so I`ll have to manage without it. This year I`ve made up stockings for Roman, Danny, Kerry, Slava and Salina and I have wait until Dan has gone to bed before I can hang them up. He thinks I`ve only filled ones for Kerry, Salina and Roman but I couldn`t leave the boys out. I just hope they like what`s in them. Jim is working tomorrow but should bve home by 1pm so we`ll wait imtil then to open our presents, it wouldn`t be right to open them without him.
I really want to thank you all, my journal friends for reading my day to day mutterings throughout the year, and for entertaining me with your smashing entries. I do miss not being able to read them as often as I`d like. Also I want to thank you all for the Christmas cards and greetings that you`ve sent me, it was lovely to open them all. Also I must thank all those who`ve made the graphics that I`ve been privileged to use, I have no idea how to make my own and would have had a very boring journal indeed without them. I`m going to find all your names and links and will list you all in another entry. And finally I must thank my wonderful family without whom I wouldn`t have had very much to write about in the first place! And that, my friends was my Christmas equivilent to an Oscar speech...lol!
Anyway, that`s it from me apart from wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and have a wonderful magical time. Take care. :o)
Mistletoe a Christmas poem by Walter de la Mare
Sitting under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.
Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
(Pale-green, fairy mistletoe),
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen - and kissed me there.

A lovely entry Sandra. Well, we did forget something - the sausage rolls, one of the treats that I can eat. Mike did find some of the ready cooked puff pastry type but I dislike those. He has now hastily gone to Iceland to see if they have any frozen ones that you cook yourself but I fear the stocks will be gone. He did the same thing last year and I carefully explained to him what I wanted and not to do it again this year and......he did.
We have not done stockings for anyone. Probably will for the boys next year. Ooops on that mirror. I was brought up to be very susperstitious although most of it is nonsense but I know how upset I would have been.
It is a privilege to read your journal Sandra and to share in your family life. It is the readers who really make our journals, without them there would be little point. I am grateful to all the graphics makers as well.
Well, my dear friend wishing yourself, Jim, Kerry, Slava, Roman and Danny a wonderful Christmas. I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and wishing you all happines. God bless xxxxxx
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. Had my share of bad tempered customers when I worked as I was recalling yesterday in my musings they can be so nasty at times. LOve Joan.
I am sorry that Roman is feeling poorly. Hope he feels better tomorrow and will enjoy opening his pressies. That is sad that Jake is limping. Maybe he just hurt his leg or foot and it's not the starting of anything else. Hope he gets better soon. Merry Christmas to you and Jim and the rest of your dear family. Hugs, Helen
Merry Christmas to you and Jim Poor Roman, bless his heart! I hope he feels better tomorrow. Have a lovely day with your family, I hope Father Christmas brings you everything you want!

P.S. I meant to say I hope little Roman picks up soon, you told me all about it last night. As for Jake, do not worry too much, he might just have pulled a muscle or trodden on something that hurt him. We went through that with Jack recently as you know and after a few days it was fine. You are right, the main thing is to keep his weight under control.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas..... Sandra
Loved your graphics today Sandra, people are so clever aren't they!
Poor Roman, it's horrible when little ones are so unwell isn't it, they don't understand why they feel so rotten. I hope he feels lots better soon, that's the other thing with little ones, they soon bounce back :o) My Mum used to make me up a Christmas stocking, right up until I had J, then she said I was too old :o( She still gives me presents from Santa though :o) Merry Christmas to you and Jim Sandra, and sorry for such a long comment, he he! Have a lovely time :o)

Hi Sandra! I hope Roman feels better for Christmas. Poor baby. Give him extra hugs and cuddles.
Hope Jake is better, too. Maybe he just stepped wrong and pulled a muscle. I'm sure he'll be ok.
How nice of you to make stockings for everyone! I love stockings! I know they'll enjoy receiving them.
Hope you and your family have a very enjoyable Christmas. Take lots of pictures to preserve the memories. And hopefully, you'll share them with us.

The graphics are beautiful. You're more adventurous than me, since I haven't even used them in my journal. Here's wishing you and your entire family the most wonderful Christmas ever, and a very happy New Year. And also hoping that Roman is feeling better real soon. I understand Jim's working on Christmas Day, my dad & my grandmother worked for the railroad and if it didn't fall on their days off...they worked and my mother worked around their shifts. Then my former husband also went to work for the RR, and we went thru the same thing, early morning Christmas breakfasts, lunches and if we were lucky ...dinners. Linda in Washington
Wishing you a very happy Xmas Sandra and all the very best for 2007 Eve x PS snap! The large mirror hanging up on the middle landing of the stairs fell the other night about midnight knocking several pottery things from the bookcase below it and of course they all smashed on the ceramic tiles after thudding and bouncing downstairs. My husband leapt out of bed woken by the racket of breaking glass and pottery. I stood in shock staring at the mess in disbelief! I will be 100 at least before my luck changes now!!
Have a lovely day Sandra and all the family too :o) Do hope poor Roman is well soon conjuctivitis is nasty enuff let alone a poor wee tot like him...Must admit i leave my shopping till last minute now but am not grumpy with it...I aslways wish those who have served me a happy christmas as i pay for my stuff Caff xxxxxxx
