THE WAG AND BONE SHOW 2005

Hello everyone and welcome to the Sunday after the long, long day before.  Yesterday Jim, Jake and I went to the Wag and Bone show in Windsor Great Park, and what a fun day we had too.  The show is obviously a day out for dogs, little one, big ones hairy ones and smooth ones, fat ones, thin ones and just about every breed you can think of were there and more besides.  It`s not a championship show with top dogs being preened and presented , but a fun show with lots of classes for all-comers.  Jim and I were snapping our cameras like mad and trying to get the best pictures possible.  It wasn`t that easy though as the scent of all those dogs was driving them all crazy, Jake included.  My shoulder is really painful today from being dragged all over the place by Jake.

At the show there was a games zone and Jake took part in two of them.  One was where he had to fish out a shape from a tank of water, where he won a squeaky toy, and another where he had to select a tennis ball of various colours.  He chose blue and won a frisbee and another squeaky toy.  You had to buy tokens for £1 each for the games and all money from these and all of the classes was donated to all seven animal charities represented at the show.  These included the R.S.P.C.A, the P.D.S.A, Dogs Trust, Hearing Dogs, Dogs for the Disabled and Guide Dogs.   At lunchtime made our way to the food zone and sat down on the grass as all the tables were taken.  Jim stood in the coffee queue for 25 mins, as I sat and ate sausage and chips and chatted to a couple all the way from Newquay, Cornwall.  Jake just lay down with his head on my leg, while what seemed to be the entire dog population of the world passed by.  Every few minutes someone would stop and tell Jake how handsome he is, or ask me about him.  I was even approached by a couple of people I haven`t seen for 10 years.  They remembered me from our daily dog walks with Rosie and Hannah.  It was lovely to chat to them after all this time.  There were a few well known people drifting around.  I saw the actor Anthony Stewart Head from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, queueing up for fish and chips and it seemed that he wasn`t recognised by most people.

The weather was cloudy for most of the day but the sun came out later in the afternoon.  I was very surprised when I got home to find that I was rather sunburned.  That`s the thing at this time of the year, the low cloud can be deceptive.  I have more photos but they are on our camcorder and I have to leave Jim to download them as I haven`t the first idea how to do it myself.  In the last photo collage Jake is in the top left hand corner, he wasn`t sure whether to join those other labs in the paddling pool and decided against it in the end.  Anyway I must go now, we are having some visitors round and I had better get ready.  I hope you all have a lovely day and please take care.

Sounds like a fun time and I think all the dogs were pretty. I picked Jake out of the bunch. Congrats to him for winning two prizes. Love your name graphic. Helen

Cute pictures, I especially like that little white terrier looking dog in the bottom right hand picture. When my kids were young we had a beagle/terrier mix (Frisky) that was the dearest dog.  He allowed a small boy to play with him and never growled or snapped. Even tho I do not have a dog, I still enjoy watching the big national  dog shows on TV.

Oh lots of doggies!!!! We have a dog in most of our family and friend's households - wish I could have them all in one place!!! Funny, Sam always seems to have his head on my knee when food is around and is oblivious to others!!!

I think it's great that Jake can mingle peacefully with all the other dogs.  Jake is such a treasure.  What a great day you had!

By the look of the photo's, a lot of dogs had a fun day out. Jake reminds me of our first dog. A black lab, called Dillan - he was terrified of water! Take care.

The last group of photos on the bottom left has a dog with a part red nose.  Salty my "lab" or perhaps some mix thrown in, has the same face but has tan ears and tan in his coat.  Have to talk about "my dog" after seeing all these wonderful photos of the dog show.      mark
